SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 145 millimeters(5 3/4 inches) Breadth: 79 millimeters(3 1/8 inches) Thickness: 80 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) CONDITION: Very good. No repairs but the majority of glaze is gone. A little wear and a few blemishes consistent with any decorative item which was buried for over one thousand years. A very thick alkaline soil deposition layer. Not flawless, but certainly in a better than average state of preservation– and unrepaired! Stands on its own. DETAIL: A nicely preserved clay statuette so wonderfully characteristic of Tang Dynasty statuary. Sancai. Or three-color glazes principally in yellow, green and brown was a development of the Tang Dynasty(618-907 AD) Sancai(three-colored" wares were first made for burial, using lead-based glazes that produced mottled and streaky effects in green, amber-brown, and cream, with an occasional addition of blue or black. The production of such exquisite porcelain items required multiple firings of fine white clay at temperatures near 1000c(1800f) degrees. A wide variety of statuettes were commonly produced such as musicians, chamberlains(butlers) maids, cooks, even animals; all designed to serve their deceased master. In early Tang dynasty. Production of sancai pottery figurines dominated the pottery scene, and their production continued well into the Ming era which advanced the art with more intense colors and finer porcelain clay. Pair Genuine Victorian STAFFORDSHIRE Figures Figurines Highlanders Hunter Piper
This auction is for a fine pair of genuine Victorian Staffordshire figures. They are made from glazed white pottery with traces of gilt highlighting and depict a Highland piper and hunter. Both figures are dressed in green and wear kilts. The hunter is shown resting against his gun with his dog at his side. He has a feather in his hat and a cape over one shoulder. The piper is wearing a sporran and is holding bagpipes. The figures stand 15' high and measure 8' from side to side and 3 and 3/4' from front to back. Both are in very good condition given their age(and the fact that we brought them back from England in hand luggage! with no chips. Cracks or flakes. The paintwork remains good. There are no manufacturers marks but are genuine Staffordshire Victorian period. Victorian Era Hand Painted French Colbert Bisque Boy & Girl Clamming Figurines
Victorian Era. Hand Painted French Colbert Bisque Boy& Girl at the Seashore Figurines What a wonderful pair of scarce Victorian era(late 1800s) hand painted Bisque child figurines. Rich colors and gilt detail trim. This young pair appear to be at the seashore. Standing with pail and shovel in hand searching for clams or seashells! The young girl has a shovel in her left hand and a bucket in her right hand. The young boy has a shovel in his right hand and holds a bucket in his left hand. Both figures are incised on the reverse side of the base with Colbert's distinctive signature. The children have exceptional details with blonde colored hair. And they are wearing adorable swimming attire, in pale blue with periwinkle blue accents. The girl’s swim dress is adorned with delicate blue flowers on it. The dress is trimmed in gold. Her ... moreface is lovely and she has blue eyes. She is standing in her bare feet and has her dressed pulled up to keep the hem from getting too wet. The boy also has blue floral design on the front legs of his swim attire. Rich colors and gilt trim enhance the delicate bisque and finely colored detail of the face and eyes of these figurines. The toes. Hands and face are exquisitely molded with outstanding detail. They are so realistic and well made they seem almost ready to come to life. The bases feature molded cresting waves and shore in pale blue with light tan accents. The boy stands 12” while the young girl is 11.75” tall. They both measure 6” at their widest point on the base. These pieces have no chips. Cracks or repairs. I believe that each has a slight flaw which probably occurred during firing. There’s a small spot on the boy’s face(see photo#4) and a dark spot on the girl’s left arm just below where her sleeve ends(see photo#5) These very hard to find pieces are priced considerably below their value. The G in Germany is made like an S. I have tried to identify these pieces online. And have had no luck. There is an X hallmark below the numbers. One side of the woman's hat has been chipped off. There is a superficial. Hairline crack on the back of the man that does not go all the way through the piece.

They are 9 1/2" high overall and the figurine it's self is 6 1/2" high, 4" wide, and 3 1/2" deep. These lamps both have the original cloth covered cords that they first came with and will have to be replaced if you intend to use them. There is no chips cracks or scratches on these wonderful pieces. They would be great in a girls room or up in a lit shelf and proudly displayed. Insurance will be included with shipping. These are Dresden from Germany. Their attire was made by painting porcelain on lace. It is very fragile and so few have made it thru the years without damage. These. Unfortunately, are 3 of the damage ones. They are still beautiful and at a distance. You don't notice it. The one is pix. 4 x 2 1/2" has 2 finger tips broken and a tiny hole in the back of her skirt. Must look very closely to see either. Picture 4& 5. 5 1/2 x 4" shows where the woman's arm is completely broken off. Her neck has been glued and there is a piece of her collar and some skirt ruffle missing. The man some some missing digits as well. The last one. Starting in pix 7 is so pretty. She is 6x8. There are large pieces on both side of her skirt that have not endured. Otherwise, she is great looking. LOVELY PAIR OF BISQUE FIGURINES VICTORIAN LADY AND GENT
This is a lovely pair of handpainted bisque figurines of a Victorian lady and gent. Soft colors and nice details in the clothing. Very good condition with only a tiny flake on the back corner of the lady's fan which cannot be seen from the front. Each measures 8 3/4" tall. They are not marked. But most likely European! I have been an occaisional seller on eBay since the late'90's and an antiques dealer for over 27 years. I try very hard to be accurate in the description and condition of the items I offer. They have very small chips in different areas which can be seen by viewing all photos. Apon very close inspection with a magnifying glass. It looks as though the man MAY have possibly been repaired at one time right where the top of the puppy's head meets the bottom of his coat. It is quite difficult to tell because there is some crazing on these pieces due to their age. This. Of course, is exactly the way many of us Shabby Chic gals like our pieces! Sutterfield Consignment is pleased to offer this pair of cherubic Parian Ware children DESCRIPTION: These sweet little naked children are intensely studious. The boy writing on his tablet and the girl reading from an old-style book. They are made of Parian Ware which has the feel of marble. These are a wonderful example of the finest Parian Ware produced during this time. The detail is spectacular from their toes and fingers to the pages in her book to the curls on their heads. This is the very exciting part. Helping to document the age of these two pieces are a set of 4 original photographs dating back to before the turn of the 18th century. These are circa 1890 and have been in the same family since they were done. We have included in this listing 4 original. Old photos. Andrea S Occupied Japan Bisque Victorian Figurines
ANDREA S bisque pair of figurines- only sold as a pair. These delicate bisque porcelain pieces were made in Occupied Japan during the late 1940's and bear the mark Andrea S. The pieces measure 7" tall with a 5 1/2" base. The details of each piece are very intricate. Including the faces, expressions, clothing, and stance. Although they appear to be reverse images, on second look small variations can be spotted; i.e. the tilt of the heads, number of folds in the lady’s skirt, the skirt ruffle, intricacies of the hairstyles, and the details of the men’s waistcoats. There are no chips on these lovely pieces. Hand-painting with added gilt outlines enhance the bodices. Sleeves, table, tea service, and base of each piece. Two Antique 19th Century Folk Art Hand Made 5" Victorian Dolls Figurines
Up for bid are two charming and unusual 19th century hand made Victorian dolls/figurines. The dolls heads are hand painted and made of chalkware. The heads are fancy. Lady rabbits as opposed to a human female head. Their clothing is made of the Victorian style hoop dresses and is all original clothing from when the dolls were made in the late 1800s. The bodies, under the dresses are made of a thick pipe cleaner type material. The doll in the pink dress is walking her dog, which is also made of a thick pipe cleaner. The doll in the yellow dress is carrying a small umbrella. The ears on the rabbit heads have some flaking which can be seen in the photos. Victorian German Paper Punch Embroidery Motto with Celluloid Figurines
This beautiful Victorian paper punch motto was found in the attic of my aunt and uncle’s house. And had been there for many years. The words written on the piece are German. And I do not have a translation for the saying on the piece. It has four celluloid pieces– Jesus, the inscription on the cross above his head, two women standing together in one celluloid piece, and another woman who is sitting or crouching down. According to The Gospel of John, several women and one disciple stood"near the cross" and that Jesus spoke to them from the cross. The women are identified as Jesus' mother Mary, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clophas(or Cleophas) and Mary Magdalene. I assume that the female celluloid figures in this picture represent those women. The celluloid Jesus and his mother Mary are detached from the paper. And ... morethe piece with two women standing together is attached by one string at the top. These items would need to be reattached to the piece, and I do not have the appropriate materials true to the period in order to reattach them myself, so I left them as-is. The correct placement of these pieces is very obvious, due to the light color of the paper beneath them. The last sentence on the paper is missing the majority of the thread that was originally used on the piece. There is still some red thread on the last word in the sentence, which could be used to match the color, if someone were interested in repairing it. There are two significant notches out of the bottom and right side of the paper, and three along the top margin. There is also a tear in the lower right corner, which is still connected at the bottom of the piece. All damage has been documented in the photographs provided. The original cardboard backing is available, but the original frame is gone. The paper has some dark aged areas, primarily through the middle, which I believe adds to its beauty as an antique piece. While unmarked. These large bisque figurines were made in Germany during the late 19th century, c. 1890. The intaglio eyes and facial painting look very much like Gebruder Heubach. They measure 15" tall and are very heavy! They are dressed in colonial-inspired clothing which is very typical of Victorian bisque figurines. With the exception of a few minor flaws, they are in excellent condition. The girl has one broken missing finger.the pointer finger on her left hand, over the fan, is missing. There is a factory line across the back of her hair, near the neck, which occurred during the firing and is NOT damage. Other than that, the girl is perfect. This larger set of Victorian bisque figurines was made in Germany in the 1890's. They measure 12" tall and are in excellent condition with no noticeable damage or repairs. They depict a boy and girl dressed in blue outfits with peach and yellow trim. It is also interesting to note that the boy has brown eyes and the girl's eyes are blue! I believe this was made by an individual who signed it Poole on the bottom. I don’t know when it was made but I acquired it from someone who said it belonged to their grandmother. Porcelain Victorian lady and gentleman figurines and tea pot, table
This is a 3 piece set of a Victorian lady and gentleman couple and a tea table with a tea pot and 2 cups. As you can see in the pictures the table and tea pot and cups were obviously cast in 2 parts that were not matched up properly and is uneven as you can see in the pictures. Also there is a few minor defects in the lace on the gentlemans cuf and the ladies dress as you can see in the pictures. These I am sure are in the mold as these figurines are not the highest quality. But they still look good. These will be double boxed and shipped priority mail with tracking and insurance.
