Masonic Antique Sunderland Lustre Pitcher 19th Century Freemasonry Lodge
DUE TO NON-PAYMENT THIS LOT IS BEING OFFERED AGAIN* Nothing has changed.Same Condition Description.Even Older Than When First Listed! I only tried cleaning up spelling/ punctuation and added a few details from first listing Outstanding 19th Century Masonic themed Sunderland Lustreware pitcher apparently made for export and sold to Lodges. Decorated on both sides as shown with motto"Sit Lux Et Lux Fuit" or"Let there be Light and there was Light" as well as a Masonic poem reading in part"Hail! Masonry Divine! Glory of ages shine. Long may'st thou reign! Replete with Masonic imagery and symbols as shown in photos the pitcher is in very good structural condition with no obvious or apparent breaks or repairs. The spout and handle appear in good shape and are not chipped or repaired but the spout shows age related wear ... morefrom use as shown. I have included a close-up photo of spout showing such wear. The glaze is obviously crazed both inside and out and I have photographed the interior to show same. The glazed bottom is unmarked and the rim appears unglazed as shown in photos. All in all. In remarkably good shape, especially considering this was made as a utilitarian object, albeit decorated as a piece of art with meaning and significance to the users. I know very little about Freemasonry, but this piece strikes me as fascinating and interesting. I am glad it survived in reasonably good condition to be appreciated for years to come. Three more photos can be added if requested. Auction only with no reserve and free domestic shipping. I strive for 1000% customer satisfaction both before and after sale so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. ANTIQUE SUNDERLAND LUSTRE CREAM AND PINK TEAPOT CIRCA 1850 ENGLISH
ANTIQUE SUNDERLAND LUSTRE TEAPOT CIRCA 1850 ENGLISH This teapot is hand painted with a lustre shine. The colors are pink and cream with green leaves with blue and berry colored flowers. Trimmed in pink lustre around the complete teapot. The spout, handle around the top of the teapot. Needless to say all around the opening is painted in pink lustre. I have had this piece also for over 30 years and its time to part with some of my treasures! I bought this piece in 1995 and has sat in my curio cabinet since. Inside the lid has a little peeling from age but what do you expect for something that's around 200 years old. Maybe President Washington and Martha had tea with it. Who knows about these things. SUNDERLAND (?) VINTAGE COPPER LUSTRE CUP AND SAUCER #1
Up for your consideration is this nice little cup and saucer. I believe it is Sunderling. Based on the handle shape. The saucer is 5 5/8" across and the cup stands 2 3/8" high with a 3 1/2" diameter. They show typical wear from age and use. There is fading and wear on the copper banding and there was initially a flower in the center of the bottom of the cup as well as the center of the saucer. These are now very faint. The cup and saucer displays well and would be a great addition to your collection. Please look carefully at the photos. They are part of the description. Staffordshire Sunderland Pearlware Pink Lustre Prattware Pitcher c1830 NR
Untitled Document A Staffordshire or Sunderland Pearlware Pink Lustre Prattware Pitcher circa 1820 ~ Moulded and Lustred with Icicles. Daisies, X's and Acanthus Leaves ~ About 5 1/2" high ~ almost 7 1/2" from spout to handle A milk pitcher with the same mold is described and illustrated in Michael Gibson's book'19th Century Lustreware' on page 28. He dates it to 1820 Staffordshire. The bottom row of decoration is embossed standing acanthus leaves that are alternately lustred. Above that in the center band is three rows in a raised checker pattern, the top and bottom with button like daisies and the center with'x's or perhaps they are meant to be simple flowers. Above that is a row of stripes, all lustred in pink and the top from the rim down is molded with a varying length of'icicles. The handle is also ... morenicely done with knobs at the end and thumb rest and edged with molded roping. ~ This jug came from the collection of Dorothy Lee Jones and deaccessioned from the Jones Museum of Ceramics and Glass in Maine, the black numbers painted on the bottom are their inventory numbers. ~ In excellent condition; the lustre only has very minor wear for the most part. There is more wear around the rim and one 1/8" minor flake at the rim. There is crazing to the glaze which you notice in the closeup pics but not really on display, this looks great on display, very clean and colorful. Thanks for looking. No Reserve!
