Primitive Stoneware Lined Wooden Water Drink Jug w/Tap Camp Trailer Folk Art
Offered is a 5-sided primitive drink dispenser from the early 20th Century. It is made of wood lined by a stoneware jug with a metal tap or spigot. There is a tin lid and another tin and rubber piece that is a seal. I can honestly say I have never seen another like it. The spring tap turns well. On& off, but not too loose, and there are no cracks or chips in the stoneware liner. There is a bit of cracking and wear to the wooden exterior side under the tap. And dents to the tin lid, but otherwise. It looks great, even though it hasn't had much more than a wipe-down. It does not leak. It is 14" tall with an additional 2" for the tin lid. Approximately 10" in diameter and weighs 15 lbs. I can see this being right at home in a vintage camper or at a rustic lake cottage. Since this is so large. Heavy and breakable, it will ... moreprobably be shipped via UPS Ground. The price shown for shipping is based on 15lbs. This will be super padded for shipment and very safe in transit. Stoneware Crock Jug with Handle GB & RH Fraser Hudson St. Albany 1844-45
Stoneware Crock Jug with Handle GB& RH Fraser Hudson St. Albany 1844-45 Some chips in the finish. But still a nice looking jug. I see no cracks or splits in this one. Finish has come off in a small patch along the bottom. See pics. No chips or missing pieces along opening on top which is uncommon. Cannot come up with anything on Fraser in Albany, so assuming this was a merchant on Hudson Street. Great handle on this jug that is still intact. Most of the glaze is still on this one with exception of note below. Made in the 1844-45 period per an eBayer whom knows more about stoneware than I. Great logo from the maker or end user impressed into this one and then painted blue. No other designs on this jug that I can ascertain. Not sure if the number 58150 written on the bottom is original or after the fact. The jug is 11.75" tall. By ... more8" across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Heavy cobalt glaze stoneware pitcher jug late 1800s early 1900s white interior
Limmer Lane Antiques Welcome To Limmer Lane Antiques! Heavy cobalt glaze stoneware pitcher jug late 1800s early 1900s white interior Nice older pitcher. In style and form it is hard to put a date to however the base and top rim show wear that is consistent with an older piece. I'm going to dare to say that it dates to the late 1800's through the earlier part of the 1900's. Overall condition is great with no chips or cracks to make note of and only the before mentioned age related wear. From the top edge to the base rim measures about 7 1/4" and the top edge is 5 1/4" from the handle to the tip of the spout. I'm afraid that the pictures did not do justice to the heavy cobalt glaze.Looks a bit richer in person. The pitcher weighs about 3 pounds un-packaged. ♥Take a look and feel welcome to ask any questions/make offers. All ... morereasonable offers are considered! Like our shop? Antique Large 19th C. Stoneware Jug Large Norton Cobalt Bird MINT Condition NR
A wonderful large 19th c. three gallon stoneware jug with a large bird on a branch cobalt decoration on the front just below the maker's stamp. It is signed J.A. C. W. Underwood. Fort Edward New York, this maker was located 40 miles from the Norton Factory in Bennington, VT. It was common for potteries to use the same decorators in the nineteenth century. This design is synonomous with the Norton pieces from Bennington, if you google Norton Bird you will see other examples from the Norton pottery with the exact design. This piece is in excellent untouched condition, no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs& there doesn't appear to be any staining. It is quite impressive, standing 15 1/2" tall, the top opening is 2 3/4" in diameter& the bottom measures 9 3/4" in diameter. The bird design is over 8" from tail ... moreto beak& stands just over 7" tall, the design takes up most of the front of the piece. The cobalt design is very thick& well executed& the stamp is nicely impressed, very clear. The handle was applied perfectly& is very thick at 1 1/2" wide. This early piece of stoneware is pictured on top of a large early 19th c. candlebox, which is not included in this listing& is offered in one of my other auctions. Antique Cobalt Blue Decorated Stoneware Jug signed WHITES UTICA NY slip trailed
Here's a beautiful but significantly damaged stoneware jug up for bids without reserve. It's marked"Whites Utica NY" and has a gorgeous. Slip trailed, cobalt blue decoration that was hand applied back when this piece was made between 1850 and 1870. Unfortunately this piece has a big, old crack that starts above the decoration and goes counterclockwise all the way around the back, under the handle and ends at the bottom edge on the left side of the jug. It has darkened with age and no attempt was ever made to repair it. The previous owner put some round, felt, cushions on the bottom to keep it from getting worse and just displayed it as-is. Despite the bad crack, it's still a piece of Americana that was made by a well-known, 19th Century pottery that looks nice displayed with primitives and country antiques. Even though ... moreit's fragile, we believe it's still something that should be preserved and enjoyed. We'll pack it very well to make sure nothing happens during shipping and start the bidding at 1 cent. This piece needs a loving home. On Mar-01-13 at 20:10:21 PST. Antique Cobalt Blue Decorated Stoneware Jug; Old Salt Glaze 19th Century Pottery
Up for bids we offer a beautiful. 19th Century, 2 gallon, stoneware jug in exceptional condition. Right out of an estate, this salt glazed piece has a folksy, cobalt blue floral decoration on the front as well as an underscored number"2" above it. It was found in the western New York region and isn't signed by the pottery that produced it but there's a good chance it is a Lyons- Fisher or Burger jug. It has a gorgeous, dark, and earthy coloring along with that speckled, salt glazed surface. This piece is very well preserved and has only one small pitted type flaw near the handle. There are no other chips, not even around the spout or the bottom edge. The handle hasn't been broken and there aren't any cracks or hairlines anywhere on the piece. As a little bonus, we'll include the very nice, hand-carved wooden ... morestopper it was found with. The jug measures about 13 1/2 inches high with a bottom diameter of 8 1/4 inches while the very top measures 2 1/4 inches across. As far as condition goes, this is the nicest piece of decorated stoneware we have ever found. It would make a super addition to any collection and also a top notch example to start one off! We offer this quality piece of 19th Century Americana up for bids with no reserve. Good luck! On Mar-01-13 at 20:29:29 PST. ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. I have a lot of Mission furniture and this is a nice accent piece. This is a thick, heavy little jug, thus the shipping cost. This is a great price as

Vtg Early 1900's Estate Find ~ Lg CROCK JUG Salt Glazed Stoneware w Blue Stripes
Large Antique Early 1900's or Late 1800's Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Jug w/ Blue& White Stripes ================ It has a great putty colored salt glaze with an applied handle It has 3 rings at the top and bottom of the body of the jug. 4 blue 2 white. The bottom shows a lot of age in the clay. The applied handle has some cracks.it seems to be held together securely.may have been fixed previously in the early years.I am unsure. There is one small chip on the lower bottom edge.there are a few very timy nicks scattered on the jug.none very significant.I just wanted to be totally honest. This early jug is a beautiful decorative piece. =============================== I have a suggestion for the crack in the handle. It would not be noticeable sitting on a shelf.but should you decide to display it in a more prominent visible area( I ... moresuggest placing a ribbon and floral bow on the handle) It would totally be invisible then. I would suggest not carrying it by the handle.but otherwise picking it up from the bottom. ===================== BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE CROCK JUG! ================ MEASURES APPROX. 12" TALL 6 1/2" DIAMETER ==================== Check out my other items! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~- NO RESERVE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE item PICTURED IS THE ACTUAL item YOU WILL RECEIVE! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ====================================== SOMEONE MAY GET A"SUPER" BARGAIN! Antique 2 gal G I Lazier Picton CW Ontario Cobalt Flower Decor Stoneware Jug
G I Lazier. Picton, Canada West, circa 1850, 2 gallon Stoneware Jug THIS JUG HAS NO HANDLE and is being offered AS-IS. The notes that ceramic tablewares were primarily imported into Canada from the UK and France all through the 19th century. And that only utilitarian wares were actually produced domestically, and only from the mid-century on. George Lazier, and others like him, were the pioneers of the industry. The same article notes that in the early stages of the industry in Canada, the clay itself was as often as not imported, much of it from south of the border. This stoneware jug. Ever so slightly lopsided, thrown in the pottery of George I. Lazier, in Picton, Canada West, sometime around 1850, has only one problem. its handle was broken off. The jug is 11-1/2 inches(29.2 cm) tall. 9-5/8 inches(24.5 cm) in diameter at its widest point ... moretapering to 8-1/2 inches(21.6 cm) in diameter at the base. The tapered form of the jug is noteworthy because by the 1860s stoneware potters on both sides of the border had given up the ovoid form in favor of straight-sided jugs and crocks; in ten or fifteen years potters had learned two important things, how to modify the clay mix so that it would slump less during firing and to take advantage of the fact that more straight-sided vessels could be fitted into the kiln each time they fired it. Although well on the way to being a straight-sided vessel, this is still a relatively heavy jug(9.04 pounds/ 4.1 kg) slightly ovoid, thick-walled, and it did slump somewhat during the firing, all implying that it reflects production in the early part of the period, closer to 1850 than to 1867. What is most interesting is that the scar the broken handle left where it should have been joined to the body is completely smooth, indicating that the handle was never adhered properly to the body in the first place. At the neck there was good melding with the handle so that scar is appropriately rough, but the only thing that ultimately held the handle onto the body was the layer of glaze
