Antique Stoneware Jug A.K. Ballard Burlington. VT Search This is a wondeful RARE A. K. Ballard Burlington. VT 2 Gallon Jug. It is 15 1/2" tall and ... more29" in circumference, and 8" wide. The top of the jug is 8 1/2" in circumference and 2 3/4"wide. The handle is in pretty good condition although it does have a 1" chip out of it. It is marked: A.K. Ballard. Burlington, VT, 2" Here is a list of the issues: It has 5 chips on the spout. One is 1 3/4" long and the second one is 1"long. The others are 1/4" long or less. There is also a chip on the handle that measures 1/2" wide. It has a beautiful cobalt design and overall it is in pretty good condition for it's age. There are several places where the glazing has flaked off around the middle/bottom, exposing the pottery underneath. I would say the condition is good but it does have spotting, staining and chipping. There is a surface crack in the glaze that is 6" long and there are about 4 rust stains. IT HAS A WONDERFUL LARGE OVERSIZED AND DEEP BLUE FLORAL DESIGN. The F.B. Norton Pottery was operated in Worcester. Massachusetts from 1858 to 1894 by Franklin(Frank) B. Frank’s Norton Pottery made utilitarian stoneware. Including crocks, churns, jugs, jars, pots and similar wares. From 1858 to 1876 the firm operated as F.B. Norton& Company. In 1876 Hancock sold out and the firm was renamed Frank B. Norton. When Frank died his sons, Myron and John, operated the business as F.B. Norton’s Sons until 1894. Three known incised marks for the pottery are: F B NORTON& CO.WORCESTER. MASS. FRANK B NORTON/WORCESTER, MASS. and“F.B. NORTON SONS/WORCESTER, MASS. J.H. CONRADT & CO. STILLINGS, MISSOURI 1/2 G. Red Wing Stoneware Advertising Jug
For your considTeration is an advertising jug manufactured in Red Wing. Minnesota. This 1/2 gallon jug is unmarked, but the shape& style of the jug and the shape and style of the underglaze, stamped ad convinces me that it was manufactured in Red Wing, Minnesota sometime after 1895, but before 1919. The underglaze advertisement is oval in shape and is in black. This advertisement is approximately 4 1/4" wide and approximately 2 3/4" tall. The advertisement reads: J.H.CONRADT& CO. symbols) STILLINGS. MISSOURI. symbols) THIS JUG MUST NOT BE SOLD. The wording"THIS JUG MUST NOT BE SOLD" leads me to believe J.H. Conradt& Co. were involved in the liquor industry. This jug has a total height of approximately 8 5/8" This jug has 0 cracks. However on the shoulder are two chips big enough to photograph and 6-7 minor ... moreto insignificant chips. Around the bottom edge, is some roughness, but it is all minor to insignificant. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. The buyer is assured this1/2 gallon advertising jug will be well packaged and shipped promptly. I will try to answer any questions. I'm very easy to get along with, if commnication is adequate; I check my email several times a day. I ship worldwide. In some instances, an item cannot be shipped to certain countries. Also the postage is usually higher; sometimes much higher) The best thing to do is a get a quote while the listing is active. This 1/2 gallon advertising jug will be shipped by USPS Priority Mail. Shipping for this 1/2 gallon advertising jug is based upon 6 pounds to the zip code of the destination. I prefer PayPal, but if the buyer chooses to pickup this 1/2 gallon advertising jug and wants to pay at pickup, that is OK. Payment is expected within 7 days of commitment to buy. If payment is not received, I reserve the right to void the contract to sell this 1/2 gallon advertising ju
Antique Cobalt Blue Decorated Stoneware Jug signed WHITES UTICA NY slip trailed
Here's a beautiful but significantly damaged stoneware jug up for bids without reserve. It's marked"Whites Utica NY" and has a gorgeous. Slip trailed, cobalt blue decoration that was hand applied back when this piece was made between 1850 and 1870. Unfortunately this piece has a big, old crack that starts above the decoration and goes counterclockwise all the way around the back, under the handle and ends at the bottom edge on the left side of the jug. It has darkened with age and no attempt was ever made to repair it. The previous owner put some round, felt, cushions on the bottom to keep it from getting worse and just displayed it as-is. Despite the bad crack, it's still a piece of Americana that was made by a well-known, 19th Century pottery that looks nice displayed with primitives and country antiques. Even though ... moreit's fragile, we believe it's still something that should be preserved and enjoyed. We'll pack it very well to make sure nothing happens during shipping and start the bidding at 1 cent. This piece needs a loving home. On Mar-01-13 at 20:10:21 PST. Antique Stoneware 1 Gal. Wiskey Jug-Salt Glaze
A very nice and authentic 1-gal. antique wiskey jug. As you can see someone has added a old transefer print of a dutch girl to the front. This could be removed but I feel it adds to this piece. Approximately 9" tall and 7.5" wide this jug is in good shape with only a tiny old chip on the spout. A heavy salt glazed piece that would make a great decrotive piece. No international shipping.

Beautiful Stoneware/Earthenware Jug/pitcher**Rare Shape** No Reserve**
This is a RARE beautiful antique stoneware jug! It is gray with a blue raised design all over it. It has two different crests on the bottom and top and there is a very scary face right next to the pour spout. I could not find another like it online or at antique dealers. Years ago when I had an antique dealer look at it she said it was made in the early 1900's. She said it was made to hold alcohol(Wine) or water. She estimated a $400 value. since then I have not found one like it. It is quite heavy around 8lbs. Stands 18" tall and is 10 1/2" at its widest point. There are no markings on the bottom except for the#78. If anyone has any info at all on this jug I would appreciate it. Vintage Price Bristol Stoneware Crock Jug with advertising Nice!
For your bidding pleasure I am offering an excellent example of Price Bristol Stoneware. This jug measures approximately 12 inches high X 7 inches in diameter. With a 1 inch hole opening. I really can't find any flaws on this. The Price Bristol impression, isn't very deep as you can see part of Price does not show up. I don't know the age of this. But I'm guessing at least 72 years old, because wha t little research I did. Says there was no more production after 1940. The jug weighs 8 pounds and 7 ounces, but will ship at over 9 pounds to allow for packaging. Shipping price includes Delivery Confirmation. Email if you have any questions. Antique Stoneware: *NR* Jug, Sam Pewtress, Fair Haven, Connecticut, ca.1870
A great. Little 1Gal. Jug, lightly impressed with a cobalt-washed stamp that reads: S.L. PEWTRESS, FAIR HAVEN, CONN. This is the mark of Samuel Pewtress, who operated a stoneware manufactory down on Chatham Street 1868-1887. Most of his later pieces are marked"New Haven" so this Jug was probably made around 1870. This one has lots of early character, mainly from imperfections that were created in the kiln. These include a few clay inclusions, glaze skips, stone pops and stack marks. There is a small chip on the right side(center) that probably occurred post-production. The indentation on the spout is glazed-over(see close-up) No cracks, repaired damage or restoration work. See photos for further description and details. Measures approximately 7-1/4"W x 11-1/2"H overall. No Reserve. Posted with

2 Antique Selters Nassau Water Bottles Salt Glazed Stoneware 19th c M Num 59 Jug
These two salt glazed stoneware bottles came from an auction in Vermont. There is a slight difference in size. The larger one measures 12" high and 3 1/2" across the base. This one has a couple of chips on the top rim. Two surface chips over the emblem, a chip on the handle and a rough edge on the bottom. One spot on the base appears to be a chip, but it is glazed over. M Num 59 is imprinted under the handle. It has the impressed seal with Selters Nassau around a German eagle with the initial FR on the shield on the eagle's chest. I did some research and found out that the bottles were exported to England from Germany by at least the early 19th century. The smaller bottle measures 11 3/4" high and 3 1/4" across the base. There is a small chip on the top rim and some chipping on the bottom rim with rough edges. The ... moreimprint on this bottle is not clear, all that I can make out under the handle is Num. Very Nice 19th Century Newark NJ Decorated Stoneware Script Jug!
Up for sale is a Nice 19th Century NJ Stoneware Script Jug with Cobalt decoration. The script is an individuals name and address which looks like a rural route in Newark. NJ. The jug has been repaired but difficult to see unless you look very closely and know what you are looking for. When I purchased it many years ago. I was not aware that it was repaired. The repair appears to be around the top rim(photo#9) where maybe a chip was repaired and also on the side of the jug where a hairline was repaired. The hairline starts at the bottom rim of the jug and travels up about 4 inches into the body. I tried to photo it in photo#10 but as I already mentioned, it is very hard to see. It looks like it was a very tight spider line as the jug is Very Stable and shows no physical effects of the line. There is a minor factory dimple in photo#8, but besides ... morethat the jug is very clean without a lot of staining and discoloration. This is a very nice decorative jug and can be yours for a very good price. I am offering at a low starting price and NO RESERVE. It is guaranteed to be as described or a full money back return if returned in 3 days. My goal is to offer and describe a piece so the buyer has no surprises and is happy with the purchase just as I would want to be. I accept Paypal and personal checks as forms of payment. Good luck bidding! The jug stands 11 1/2" tall.

C. 1670 WESTERWALD SALT GLAZED STONEWARE JUG APPL. BANDS MASK SPOUT ENGHALSKRUG
ww17es C. 1670 WESTERWALD SALT GLAZED STONEWARE JUG APPL. BANDS MASK SPOUT ENGHALSKRUG On offer an early and highly decorative antique ball belly and narrow necked jug. Made from grey stoneware in the Westerwald, Germany, around 1670. On the belly it is nicely decorated with applied vertical bands with mould-pressed alternating faces of bearded men. Between the bands it is painted in cobalt blue as wll as the mask spout and the neck. The handle ends in a swirl as it is typical for the 17th century jugs. The jug is now in very good restored condition. But it had a breakout on the neck when I got it. I decided to have this damage restored. As the mask spout was fully present and just plain areas were affected, and I made some pictures before the restoration, so that you will have a true impression about its extent. There is an old star hairline ... morein the bottom, but its completely firm. There are no other cracks or chips on the jug. The jug stands about 8 5/8" 220mm) tall. Diameter of the belly is about 4 3/4" 120mm) and it weights 690 grams. A VERY INTERESTING EARLY ITEM FROM THE HIGHTIME OF WESTERWALD STONEWARE! I hope the pictures tell it all. If you have any questions or need a translation, don´t hesitate to ask!

Bottom Marked Stoneware Cone Top One Gallon Jug by Buckeye Pottery
For your consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made by the BUCKEYE POTTERY of MACOMB ILLINOIS. This jug is a one gallon size and is the cone top style. I do not know much about this company. What I do know is this company was formed in 1882 and was sold in 1941; I beleive this jug to have been manufactured during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1882, the technology to use this type of glaze had not been invented. The companies that I have studied got the technology to use this type of glaze between 1894 and 1901. From the table to the shoulder is approximately 7" This jug has a total height of approximately 10 3/4" The bottom is slightly over 7" in diameter. This jug has a crack on the cone, not far from the handle. It has a chip on the shoulder and another chip on the lip. There are three minor to insignificant ... morechips where the sides meet the bottom. This jug displays wonderfully, but is not perfect; before purchasing, please carefully look at the photos. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. The buyer is assured this jug will be well packaged and shipped promptly. I'll try to answer any questions. I'm very easy to get along with, if communication is adequate. I check my email several times a day. This jug will be shipped by UPS Ground. Shipping for this jug is $12.74.

Antique Stoneware Jug Nordhausen Kornschnapps Port Dundas Glasgow Pottery
Antique Nordhausen Kornschnapps Jug ~ Stoneware ~ The following comes from a blog/website about Jugs: The jug shown here is pre-Prohibition. The one sure confirmation of age is the Nordhausen Kornschnapps jug featuring a chalet. An illustration of it appears in a 1902 liquor ad from Chicago dealer Simon Hasterlik. Prohibition brought the sale of alcoholic beverages to a screeching halt in the United States in 1920 for about 15 years. After the end of the Dry Era. All liquor containers required a federal warning for the ensuing 30 years. No kornscnapps jugs have it. Conclusion: The marketing of kornschnapps in quart ceramic jugs ended in the United States with the Volstead Act. this is in pristine condition ~ almost 8" tall with the wording in black ~note: as made. The black coloration is inconsistent with areas of heavy shiny glaze and ... moreareas of a more matte-like appearace which is not wear or damage but simply imperfections at the time of its production ~ International customers. Antique Vintage Primitive 2 Tone Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug/Lamp Hand Painted
This is a wonderful old brown top salt glazed whiskey jug measuring approximately 11 inches tall and a diameter of approximately 7 inches. The jug has no cracks but does have a few chips. 4 around the ledge of the jug, 2 of which are not that noticeable because they are located almost right on the ledge and blend in very well. The other two are just below the ledge(see picture 3) This jug also has a small hole drilled at the bottom of the back side for an electric cord(see picture 3) to be used as a lamp. The front side of the jug has an hand painted apple motif. Some of the paint has rubbed off but again does not in any way take away from the beauty of this jug and in fact would be expected for the age. The handle is perfect and the jug has had no repairs. There are some manufacturers defects(see picture 4) the most apparent which looks ... morelike a dent. I think it enhances the charm of this old jug. A beautiful jug for any collector or for decorative purposes.
