Above the shaped bases is 4 picture frame like decorations each containing a different hand painted reserve. The front of each cachepot has a signed painting of Cupid and Phyche. Both are signed by the artist"JACOBE" The other 3 reserves have floral bouquets. The color combination used here is very rich. The main background color is what Sevres called celeste blue. The secondary color is Sevres cobalt blue. Note that the flower reserves have a very unusual deep gray background. The female figure holds a song book and is singing to the tune of the lute. The male figure was professionally repaired many years ago and broke off around his knee region. Unmarked but probably French, and dating to the latter half of the 19th century. The 2 piece vase is baluster in form with a bronze neck collar. Twin bronze handles& rim mount, and sits on a bronze pedestal base with acanthus decoration. The vase has a hand painted on transfer panel depicting a girl& boy to one side and a floral spray panel to the other. Both enclosed in gilt scroll borders, and all on a turquoise blue ground. The neck is decorated with a floral wreath. Dimensions: Approx 10 1/4" 26cm tall. This is a very fine hand painted porcelain figure of a handsome gentleman created by Sevres. France. He is 7 1/4 inches high and displays beautifully with fine detailing and gold gilt trim. His sword is broken off at either end in the back and he has some small chips to his lace trim, otherwise very good/excellent condition with no major repairs. Very Old Antique HP French Cabinet Plate Cow Scene 19th C Sevres Porcelain Style
Found this beauty at an estate sale today. And could not believe it was handpainted until we got home and checked it out. Measures about 10" across, and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The back has some impressed marks that we cannot make out except for what appears to be a triangle inside a circle. Also has a written mark/date of 1815 on the back, though that may be just a pattern or order number. Absolutely GORGEOUS artist work on this one, but we cannot find a signature. Certainly by a top-notch firm, and most likely French. USPS shipping!
