Antique Jug This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique stoneware jug or crock that has a really nice salt glaze finish. The jug is rather ... morenarrow and it’s a very early model. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Great piece and guaranteed old! I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents- sorry. It's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules: If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously. Vintage West German Pewter Lid Beer Stein Wick Werke Saltglaze Party 15" Tall 2L Deal4It Technologies Widget- D4I Ver2.0 German Pewter Lidded Earthenware Beer Stein Celebration/Wedding Wick Werke– Saltglaze? Up for your consideration is a vintage beer stein from Wick Werke in Western Germany. This earthenware stein measures 15” tall with a 2L capacity. Earthenware steins range in body color from pale ivory to dark brown; this stein is pale ivory. The decoration is relief. Showing a celebration or wedding with couples dancing and a gentleman sitting at a table. Under the handle is a relief of a mountain home. The predominant background color is cobalt blue with brown and green highlights. The spun pewter lid is made from a single cone-shaped mold with knurling ridges inside. The outside is imprinted with swirls. Leaves and crosshatching; ... morethe thumb lift is intricately designed and in excellent condition. Pewter darkens with age and exposure to the air. The inside of this lid. Which is not exposed, has remained shiny and bright. Around the base is the motto“Bei Scherz Und Spiel Trink Nie Zu Viel Bei” which translates“With joke and play drink never too much. The letters are ivory with a cobalt blue background. The handle is over 6” so you have a good grip while you’re indulging in your favorite drink. It is also ivory with cobalt blue detailing and a swirl where it joins the mug. Above the scene is a border with raised leaves and dots with a forest green wash behind the ivory design. There is a lot of crazing throughout this piece. Which I think is because of its age. I think the crazing gives it character and makes it more valuable as a collectible- it was definitely not a modern mass-produced beer stein. The base measures 5 ½” diameter and has the Wick Werke insignia impressed in the bottom above the numbers 25 and 8508. Above the insignia is the stamped“Made in Western Germany. The firm of Merkelbach& Wick operated from the 1880's until dissolving in 1921. After the firm dissolved in 1921. The Wi

Rare Auman Pottery NC Saltglaze 1 Qt. Stoneware Jug 1917-1920 NICE!
Here's a very rare NC Pottery saltglaze stoneware jug. This is a 1qt size. Which is also extremely hard to find. Jug was made at C.R. Auman's shop at Seagrove. Hard to say for sure who the turning potter is. Could be Cecil Auman, or it could be either Wren or Jace Cole. Jace(J.B. and his son Waymon were known to have worked at Auman, but mostly their duties were firing the kiln. But we do know that JB was a well seasoned potter at that time, too. Auman pottery was established by Charlie Auman in 1917, and for the first 3-4 years, all they produced was utilitarian wares, mainly in saltglaze and Albany Slip. This jug stands 6.5" tall by 5.5" in diameter, and is loaded with those"pink" spots that Mitchfield clay was noted for. The jug is in near mint condition, with just a tiny nick on the spout. The size o,5 L(Liter) is incised near the rim. This is a very nice Grey Stoneware item, with bands of rope, separating designs of Cobalt Blue. EX Rare Signed Arie Meaders GA Saltglaze/Cobalt Decorated Chicken Rooster, But..
Here is a very rare Southern Pottery figural chicken or rooster. It is saltglazed stoneware with cobalt decoration. And signed with the initials AM. I know some of you may have already seen this on a friend's Facebook page, and we do have several confirmations that it is indeed by GA potter, Arie Meaders, and that the signature is correct. That being said, it is being offered in AS FOUND condition. You'll get it like you got your mother-in-law. warts and all! We picked this out of a little Crafts and Antiques shop in Stokes County NC last Saturday, so it's fresh to Ebay. The chicken stands 9" tall by 9" long by about 5" wide, and about 4" diameter at the base. It has 2 chipped tail feathers, and most of the comb is broken off and missing. It almost looks like the comb popped off in the firing, but regardless ... moreof cause, it is gone. This probably stood closer to 11-12 inches tall to begin with. The bird is well defined, and free of any cracks or repairs. I don't usually deal with Folk Art Pottery, but nobody in his right mind would pass it up for what was on the price tag, even if it IS damaged. This will be a 5 DAY auction with NO RESERVE, NO BIN, and will NOT end early. High bidder owns it. We would appreciate NOT having to take Paypal, but we will if we must. Item will ship Double Boxed, Priority Insured Mail. Item may be picked up in person if you wish, but cash on the barrel head if you choose to do so. Thanks for looking, and good luck should you choose to bid on it. Ed:RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28e013%3F%3E%3A-14784dc8f86-0x107-
American Pie stoneware grey ROWE pottery WORKS blue trim pie plate saltglaze
About 1 1/2 inches tall by about 10 1/8 inches diameter. Overall glazed grey. The bottom shows the clay is red, the glaze treatment is"saltglazed" and the pie plate has been embellished and decorated with coblat blue trim, and blue band and a drawing of a piece of pie decorated with American Flag details, and the title of the pie plate"American Pie" The rim was thumbprinted to give it the tradtional look of a pie's crust. There is an official Maker's Mark on the side of the pie plate. It looks as though the artist who added the cobalt blue trim decorations made a maker's mark as well. Made by Rowe Pottery Works, Cambridge, Wisconsiin. ABOUT ROWE POTTERY WORKS: Rowe Pottery began production in Cambridge, WI in 1974 as a one man potter’s studio. We have grown over our nearly 40 years in business but have always ... morestayed true to the craft’s traditions. Our factory continues to bustle with people, a lost art of its own these days, all using traditional methods and techniques of pottery making. Each piece of pottery begins as a raw lump of clay that is transformed into a mug, platter, vase or dinnerware piece by an artisan. Each piece of greenware is ready for firing after it has been glazed or hand decorated. In the back room of Rowe Pottery stands a kiln the size of a small garage. Carts, known as cars are stacked high with greenware, and are ready for the final 14 hour firing process. A fully loaded car is pulled into the kiln where the temperature is slowly raised to drive out the water and burn out the impurities in the clay. When the kiln has cooled again after the firing process it is opened. There is always an element of surprise as each piece is taken from the kiln. The firing process accents the glazes and the decorator’s brush strokes, highlights of the touch of the potter’s hands burnishes the color of the clay or glaze to a unique complexion making each piece individualized. 1800's NC Pottery Saltglaze Small Pitcher attr. Shop of JD Craven
Here's a neat little 1800's NC saltglaze stoneware pitcher that we found at a yardsale over the weekend. The pitcher stands 4" tall by 3.5" in diameter. And it's in near mint condition. I see no damages or any repairs. The pitcher has incised rings on the shoulder, and a strap handle. It is not marked in any way, but the basic shape, handle, rings, and turning would seem to indicate it came out of JD Craven's shop. Pitcher was probably made 1870-1890. Amazing that it has survived all these years with no damage. Pitcher ships USPS Priority OR Parcel Select(Economy) Insured Mail, your choice. Thanks for looking, and good luck should you choose to bid on it. Ed

Large Unsigned Jonah Owen Steeds or North State NC Pottery Saltglaze Vase
Up for auction is this big old NC pottery vase made in the 1920's. By the fine turning and the rolled lip. We can confirm it was made by Jonah(Jonie) Franklin Owen. It is unsigned, and could have been done at North State(1st or early 2nd stamp period) but I believe he made it at his father's(JH Owen) shop in Steeds. It is saltglazed stoneware, but if you look down inside, there's a lot of"pink" spotting. That is something usually associated with the clays in use in the Seagrove area, rather than the Sanford area. The vase stands 6.5" tall by 8" in diameter at the shoulder. It is in perfect condition. No damage, no repair. Vase ships USPS Priority OR Parcel Select(Econpmy) insured Mail, your choice. Thanks for looking, and good luck should you choose to bid.
Vintage Gerzit German Lidded Stein Blue Saltglaze Fox and Hound
Beautiful salt glazed lidded stein. Gerzit Germany. It is about 6 3/4 inches to the uppermost metal on the handle. Looks like a hound with a fox in his mouth on top of a crown on one side. Castle on the other side. It looks like it was never used but does have a flaked off part of the bottom rim. I will add a closeup picture of it. Smoke-free. Thanks for looking!
Very Rare Unique Early German Decorated Saltglaze Stoneware Jar - Museum Quality
Very Rare early German Decorated Saltglaze Jar- Museum Quality 6 7/8" high Beautiful pristine condition Very Low opening bid This is a 5 day auction Postage to N.A. 22.00 Overseas more Good news for US buyers. Since ebay devised its Global Shipping Program.Canada postal rates are now actually cheaper than the US. Reason: Most US sellers have now been convinced to get on to Ebays Global Shipping program which has made International sales to Canada from the US 2-3 times more expensive and much slower for delivery than the traditional method of US sellers just using the regular US Postal Service. I think Ebay also offers the Global Shipping Program here in Canada.but I'm not on the program.and will never get on it. so that I can continue to offer my lower duty free postal rates to US buyers Postage to N.A. estimated 15.00.I only charge ... moreexact postage.so if you ever overpay for postage I give a same day refund. Please understand before bidding.that buyers must accept a shipping option that provides a tracking number. Note to overseas buyers.Overseas postage is always more than North American quotes. Best to check with me before you bid to avoid misunderstandings or bad feelings. Also.due to problems with false Paypal claims.buyers must now accept the type of shipping options that supply a tracking number. 643.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E643-147f4bce3d9-0x115-

19th C one gallon Boston incised advertising saltglaze stoneware jug *
Offered here without reserve is this one gallon(9 1/2" tall. 5 1/2" diameter at the base) saltglaze stoneware jug that, while it has no cobalt advertising, has incised advertising for a Mr Tempi whose shop was at the corner at Shawmut and Milton streets in Boston. The sole apology is a chip at the spout as seen in my 3rd picture. Beyond this my pictures tell the rest of the story. Again, there is no reserve but buyer pays $16 for domestic USPS shipping.

2 gallon 19th cantury saltglaze stoneware crock w. cobalt
I appreciate of course that the cobalt here is hardly decorative. Limited as it is to the numeral 2. But this crock has one thing going for it- there are no apologies, no cracks repairs and nothing but some minimal flea bites around the inner rim. So my pictures tell the whole story of this 11 3/4" high 8" diameter 19th century crock. There is no reserve but owing to weight, domestic USPS shipping will run $20.

A Martin Brothers saltglaze stoneware art pottery orb - Clement Martin 1930.
A rare and unusual piece of Martin Brothers saltglaze stoneware art pottery- although the purists might not agree. The last surviving of the brothers was Robert Wallace Martin who died in 1923.Robert's son- Clement Martin- had worked in the pottery from an early age and although not as proficient as his father or his uncles gained a good grounding in the various skills required to throw.Decorate and glaze the pots.In 1928,in partnership with Captain Butterfield(a long time patron to the Martin Brothers) he tried to re establish the pottery. He often worked with previously unfired pieces as well as producing his own work. The venture lasted into the 1930s but was not especially successful as by this time tastes had changed and the Martin Brothers designs were no longer desirable. This piece is an Orb- one of the ceremonial jewels carried ... moreby the British monarch as a symbol of power and authority.Modelled as a lidded jar- the top bears the Royal Crown. The lid locks into the base using a small recess(see photos) Coloured in light brown/stone grey glazes overall- the crown in darker brown. Signed to the base- R.W.Martin& Bros Southall and dated 1930.Height- 6 inches. Condition- overall good- there is a loss from the top of the crown and one or two other minor chips(see photos)

Rare and early Martin Brothers saltglaze stoneware wall pocket.Lady in bonnet.
A very rare piece of English art pottery- a Martin Brothers wall pocket made from saltglaze stoneware circa 1875.An early example of their work. The wall pocket is very much in the Gothic taste common to the later years of the Nineteenth Century.Of shield form.It features the face of a bonneted lady- the well of the pocket lies behind her head.Beneath her chin she has a tied bow.Coloured in typical Martin Brothers glazes of this period- a grey/blue face,a brown frontage to the shield and cobalt blue edgings. Essentially the piece is in perfect condition although there are minor blemishes typical of salt glaze firings. Two small firing cracks- one at the back and one to the inside rim edge of the well. Please note the last photo shows what is a mark in the clay- it is not a crack. Incised mark to reverse- R.W.Martin Southall. Length from top ... moreto bottom of piece- 6ins.

An English Staffordshire Salt Glaze Stoneware Creamer with Enameled Flowers c1770 ~ Three different flower sprays Enameled in Famille Rose Palette ~ 4 1/2" high and 4" from spout to handle An 18th century Staffordshire small pear shaped cream pitcher made of white salt glazed stoneware with a reeded applied handle that is pinched at the end. It is enamel decorated with three long sprays of flowers in the Chinese export porcelain famille rose palette. There are two collector's labels on the bottom; the Zeitlin and the Eugenia Cary Stoller Collection. The colors are still very vibrant and lovely on this jug. There is an old restoration to one side of the spout that is turning beige and peeling. This was there when I bought it but I believe it was to restore a small chip on the spout. The jug still looks great from 2 other sides ... moreon display. There are no other restorations seen under a black light. The pinched point at the end of the handle is chipped off. But this is only noticeable on very close inspection. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Antique 1850 - 1899 Doulton named saltglaze stoneware sprigged hunt jug
We are listing this mid to late 1800s saltglaze stoneware jug sprigged hunt jug marked on the front with the impressed name J. Chapman. The jug is only marked on the bottom with an impressed letter A. But the terminal of the handle is the standard one that Doulton used from the mid to late 1800s(see the close up picture) The jug is almost 5.5 inches tall and 4.5 inches at its widest point. In addition to the stag hunt sprigs around the bottom, it has the toby, smoker, drinker, tree and windmill sprigs typical of Doulton hunt jugs of the period. The jug displays well(and named ones are fairly hard to come by) but it does have its flaws. There is a hairline crack running across the bottom of the handle above the terminal, a small piece of sprigging missing off the end of a windmill blade, a repaired area on one side of the rim, and a y hairline ... moreon the bottom that then turns into another y hairline up the front with another thin hairline near that(see all the closeup pictures) All this sounds horrible, but the jug is quite sound and you can only see the flaws when you are close up. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending. Be sure to check out our other current and upcoming auctions of hundreds of antique and vintage objects in glass. Vintage Pottery Cow 1998 - Florida Saltglaze? Lakeland
I'm no expert. But I was told this is an excellent example of Florida salt glaze pottery. I do know that this cool pottery cow was purchased at Brooks Pottery in historic downtown Lakeland Florida FL in 1998 and has sat on a shelf since. I can't read the maker's mark, but I can see the date clearly- 1998. Bid early and bid often for this great collectible for your pottery. Florida, cow, or farm animal enthusiast. No chips, cracks, crazing, repairs or damage. From a smoke-free home. Original price on the bottom is $24.
Antique stoneware blue saltglaze lid for German beer stein, tankard, pokal, ewer
I have some nice steins up for auction this week. This item up for auction is actually an antique lid that belonged to a antique stoneware salt glaze pokal from Germany at one time(only the lid is up for auction) Alas. Someone who didn't know how to properly ship a fragile item sent it to me in a box about the same size as the pokal and lid, and, well, as you can guess, the pokal arrived in a million pieces. Sadly. The beautiful pokal is now at the bottom of a landfill, but I thought someone may be able to use the lid. Fortunately, the lid mainly survived with minimal damage(does have one of the'peaks' that chipped off, and some flakes near it) This can be displayed with the damaged area in the rear so you don't see it(or it would probably be a simple repair for those who know how to do that) The lids 4 1/4" tall while ... moresitting on a desk(would be 4" on top of a stein/pokal) It is 3 7/8" wide from edge to edge. The raised portion on the underside of the lid is around 2 3/4" from outside edge to outside edge on the inner part that goes inside the stein. You can see the inside part that would be inside the stein some areas are a bit rough. But this would be inside the stein and out of sight. This lid was designed to set on top of a stein, pokal, etc. The chip on the one peak is 1/2" long and can be seen in the 2nd picture(it's on the left and is the white part hilited by my flash from the camera) I'm hoping someone will have a stein or pokal needing a lid so they can make use of it(would seem like a waste to throw away an antique useful lid made in the late 1800's in Germany) Please see the photos and let me know if you have any questions. All items are carefully packed and fully insured for the winning bid price. I will ship worldwide– bidders welcome from everywhere.shipping will be more outside the continental USA) Paypal gladly accepted. Will also take other forms of payment from USA bidders(bidders outside the USA must use Paypal) Returns gladly accepted only

ANTIQUE/ VINTAGE SALTGLAZE STONEWARE--SNOWFLAKE DESIGN-ONE FREE--SPLIT SHIPPING!
These two pitchers have such a unique design-FLOW-BLUE SNOWFLAKES- that we could not find another-anywhere on the Bay or in other research. If anyone KNOWS-PLEASE do inform us! Someone said they thought a US pottery Co. Like Hull or McCoy may have featured this design- The larger pitcher is 6&1/2 inches tall, and 6&1/2 inches across, from handle to lip edge. A small hairline, near rim. The smaller is just about 5&3/4 inches tall by the same across. The handle has been pieced together and repaired. We were going to toss it, but it still shows very nicely with the other. The snowflakes are each a unique design. We offer SPLIT SHIPPING-so please wait for invoice, to reflect savings.

Here's a nice old saltglaze"XXX" Whiskey jug that was made by Morris Brown. I don't know an awful lot about him. Other than he was making pottery in the Seagrove area back in the 1970's. Hand Painted Blue and Gray Saltglaze Stoneware Handled Jug
This stoneware jug is German. Made in Westerwald, purchased 30+ years ago. It is like brand new, deep blue hand painted floral patterns. It is 10" high, 7& 1/4" across the bottom and the mouth opening is 2" The jug has 4 impressions that the potter placed in it around the main body. This is a great one for you saltglaze collectors. It probably is a gallon, I'm not good at those measurements. I have been the only owner for the past 30+ years. No marks and cannot remember potter's name.

Antique 1820s-1850s English saltglaze stoneware molded gin flask
We are listing this 1820s to 1850s English salt glaze stoneware molded gin flask. You can see a picture and description of one of these style flasks(only with a pub name on it) on page 29 of A Collectors Guide to Reform Flasks- they call it a moulded hip flask. Many different versions of these English stoneware gin flasks were made in the 1820s through the 1850s. Until they were gradually replaced by glass and metal versions as the industrial processes improved. This flask is decorated on the front with a pair of drinkers sitting at a table, and it was made by an unknown maker. It is marked on the bottom with a hand incised ER, but those are probably the owner's initials. There are four sizes of this particular flask known- this one is 5.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches across. The glaze is rubbed around the rim(too much use I guess) but ... morethe rest of it is in excellent condition. Typically these old flasks are more beat up, due to their functional use. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending. Old NC Saltglaze Stoneware Wax Sealer Quart Jar Poss. Woods/ Loy
Up for auction is this neat little quart sized saltglaze stoneware wax sealer jar. I don't sell a lot of stoneware anymore. But I have a number of friends out there who do. I've been told this is probably from Alamance County NC, and could be an unsigned jar by either the Boggs, Woods, or Loy family. I can' t say as I have ever sold a Woods or Loy, but I have sold a couple of Boggs pieces over the years, and the shape is quite similar. You stoneware buyers will certainly know more about it than I do, so please feel free to correct me if I'm off on this. The jar stands 7.25" tall by 4.5" in diameter at the shoulder. It's in excellent condition, with no real damages or repair. Might be a tint spot or two of roughness at the base, and down inside on the collar, but again, nothing that is very noticible. Very nice 1860s E. A. Buck & Co. Boston Mass. one gallon saltglaze stoneware jug
We are listing this very nice 1860s one gallon salt glaze stoneware jug. Which is impressed on the front with the following lettering(highlighted by partially faded blue glaze) E. A. BUCK& CO. 14 BLACKSTONE STREET, BOSTON, MASS. A successor to E. A. Buck was at this location by 1871, so this jug would be from the 1860s, at the latest. I do not see any maker's mark on the jug, but based on the nicely shaped and obviously hand-formed handle, it was an experienced potter. The jug is 9.5 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and in very good condition for a 150 year old piece of utilitarian stoneware. There is a tiny flake off the top rim and another one off the base edge, and some underglaze flakes off both areas as well.
