This pair of old Paris Porcelain vases is spectacular. The pair dates back to the very early 1900's. Made in Paris France. The design is exquisite, as is the coloring. Each vase has beautiful gold trim accents with a solid white back, and the front done in shamrock green and white. There is also a floral design in the middle of each, in pink, yellow, blue, and purple, with green leaves. The backs of the inside of each has a lovely gold swirl design. On the bottom, they are marked number 110. The vases present in very good condition. Despite their great age, they almost look perfect. The only flaw to be found anywhere, is on the bottom of one vase. It obviously can not be seen(see photo 5) and is not anything to consider troublesome or serious. There is no indication of the defect anywhere but the underside. I also must stress, that aside ... morefrom this they really look perfect. The 2 pieces weigh about 2 pounds, and stand approximately 6 and a 1/4 in tall. At the widest part they are 6 in wide, and the top opening is 5 in wide. These matching small vases are very special. They are strikingly beautiful, and have a commanding presence about them. Old Paris France is stunningly represented in the design of these pieces. These very handsome vases measure 16 ¾ inches or 42 cm high. And are 9 inches or 23 cm wide at the top rim. These beautiful vases have a light blue ground along the back and around the foot of the vases. The vases have large hand painted floral cartouches at the front and center flanked with hanging floral vines with heavy applied gold highlights. The top rims of the vases are flared with bas relief foliate designs in gold. The vases are done with excellent attention to detail and are very beautiful and stately. These are small for spill vases but certainly could be as such things sat on mantels in the 19th century and earlier before matches were made. The spill vases may need some explanation. They were small tubular vases that sat on mantles and held small wooden splints or paper cones all called ... morespills. They were used to light candles and lamps and the spill would be lit at the fireplace. Often there was another receptacle to hold the used spill and of course could be thrown in the fireplace too. They could of course be used as small bud vases. These Empire style pieces have a Napoleonic flair with the disc pedestal and the lions paw feet. The details of the two ribs near the top and at the bottom and in addition the gently flaring lip are all those used during this period in the French decorative arts. The hand painting is lovely and handled in a very free manner but not loose either. These are exceptional pieces in outstanding physical condition with all the earmarks of one of the better Old Paris makers. These are unmarked except for a couple of glazers marks a C and an M. Beautiful Antique Pair of Gilt Decorated Old Paris Porcelain Vases. The white ground flower petal form vases are decorated with colorful floral bouquets and gilt. There are applied gilt and white flower buds on each side of the vases. The curled handles have applied leaf forms at the bottom and flower buds on the interior parts of the loop-formed handles. The rims are scalloped. The pedestal bases are decorated with gilt. And green, brown and gold colored leaves. Each vase body has a rippled porcelain form. This is a gorgeous pair of vases and beautifully graphic! thay feature a swirled outsized pattern of traditional faience motifs done in shades of blue. Accented with black and golden yellow on a very pale blue ground. The interior is also glazed in pale blue. It measures 8” tall and approximately 4.1/2” in diameter. This is clearly marked on the base with the number O-95/2 BLEU DU PARIS, ROYAL ZUID HOLLAND with the famed GOUDA house logo. The year date on the left side of the mark identifies this as likely made in 19? The artist’s mark is to the right of the“house logo” I am no expert on Gouda pottery. Lovely pair of Old Paris porcelain figurine spill vases
An extremely lovely. wonderful condition pair of Old Paris Porcelain figurine spill vases. Each figurine rests atop a double arched pedestal that is edged in gilt and profusely decorated with foliate gilt scroll work. Each figure also stands beside the stump of a tree that forms the vase to hold flowers. The stumps are variously colored in tan. Orange, and green colors. One figure is a gentleman and the other a lady garbed in early 18th century costume. The woman has brown hair, blue eyes, pink cheeks and red lips. She wears a brimmed bonnet atop her head that has an elegant blue plume. Her bodice is edged in gilt with a floral design also in gilt. The sides of her sleeves and hem of her tunic are edged in a blue tone and she holds a gilt fan in her hands. Her skirt is also profusely decorated in gilt floral patterns and the underskirt is ... morefurther embellished with deep violet flowers. The gentleman also has brown hair, blue eyes, pink cheeks and red lips. He sports a goatee and a brimmed hat with a brilliant orange plume. He wears a light colored blue neckerchief about the throat and a tunic and vest edged in violet and profusely decorated with gilt foliate scrolls. His knee-length britches are alternately striped in blue and gold. He wears white hose and orange pumps with blue buckles. He holds a gilt brush or pencil in his right hand and an oval slate or canvas in his right upon which he appears to begin drawing a portrait of his beloved. These are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. These is a minor aneling crack o the interior of the man's vase but this is not visible from the outside. The gilding is in excellent condition with only minor wear. Approximate overall dimensions of each figurine are: 8 inches high by 4 3/8 inches wide by 3 inches deep. No refunds accepted. This is a pair of antique Old Paris porcelain vases with paintings and Griffins. Unfortunately. They're damaged. I believe they date from the late 19th century. They each measure 13 1/4 inches tall(33.7 cm) Including the handles. They are each 10 inches wide(25.4 cm) The bases are 4 7/8 inches wide(12.4 cm) I couldn't resist these because they were so beautiful. They each have a great looking Paris painting on them. As to the damage. One has a cracked off Griffin wing, a crack in that Griffin's other wing, and the Griffin's head was glued on a little crooked(please see photos) There is no other damage to that vase. The other vase has a long. Thin crack going around the entire vase. It runs across the middle of the red back, then it goes down and around the bottom of the painting, and comes up along the right side of the painting. ... moreThere are no problems with the Griffins on this one. THIS IS A MONUMENTAL PAIR OF ANTIQUE OLD PARIS VASES THAT WERE CONVERTED INTO LAMPS AT ONE TIME BUT THANKFULLY WERE NOT DRILLED FOR THE WIRING. WE HAVE REMOVED THE LAMP PARTS FROM THE TOP BUT HAVE LEFT THE WOOD BASES AS WE FEEL THEY PRESENT THE VASES VERY WELL AND ADD A DRAMATIC EFFECT. THE NEW OWNER COULD REMOVE THE BASES BUT WE FELT THAT SHOULD BE THE DECISION OF THE BUYER. THE VASES THEMSELVES MEASURE APPROXIMATELY 18 1/4 INCHES HIGH AND HAVE A GIRTH OF APPROXIMATELY 30 INCHES AROUND MAKING THEM QUITE IMPRESSIVE. This large pair of Sevres style cylindrical vases. Were made in Paris, circa 1829-64, there are no factory marks, but they were made by the Pocelain de Paris factory at rue de la Pierre-Levee, Paris.France, during this time known as the Clauss 1&2 periods, no factory marks were used. They are decorated to a very high standard in the Sevres style with very well painted portraits of ladies and bouquets of flowers within a cobalt blue ground and enriched with gilding. They really are a fabulous quality. Pair of Large Paris Porcelain Vases, Victorian, Oak Leaves, Acorns, 1855-1875
I am pleased to offer for sale an exceptionally pretty pair of late Victorian Paris Porcelain Vases from the time period of about 1855-1875. They are executed in an easy-to-work-with and charming color-scheme that would add a nostalgic aura to many rooms. Whether period or later. These are nice large vases measuring 16.5 inches tall and 8 inches at the widest. They feature mixed floral bouquets typical of the period. With cabbage roses, hybiscus, and fuchsia amid lush foliage. The background color on the neck portion is a lovely lavender-pink and a French blue. Along the sides are handles composed of gilded Oak Leaves and Acorns. Which is always one of my favorite motifs. The body of both vases is in excellent condition with no breaks. Cracks, or evidence of repairs. The undulating top rim is in fine condition, as is the base. There is some ... moreloss to the tips of 3 of the oak leaves, but there is so much going on with the vases that this is not readily apparent, and it does not detract from the vases. There is significant wear to the gilding on the handles; there is however. Enough gilding present on the leaves and acorns that they are still accented nicely. The backs featured a simple gilded scroll pattern which is mostly gone. As these are generally placed against a mantel or a wall that really wouldnt be much of an issue. The color and gold work is magnificent-I can think of no other word for it-I counted four flaws to the leaf functions but they are very hard to find because of the ornate structure and colors used in these monumental sized Old Paris Vases. Also at one time they had been made into lamps early in the last century and note the picture of the holes in the interior-a minor unseen flaw that is easily repaired should you wish it so. The male and female are wonderfully done and in great shape including their period clothing etc. The tops are reticulated and gold-laden and the backs are in that famous and desirable Old Paris Green(almost of Granny Smith apple color but even ... moremore delectible. Offered for your purchase is a superb pair of trumpet form Paris Porcelain mantle vases circa 1810. Tooled with bacchic putti. Boar's mask, terminal and acanthus leaf and foliate roundel support setting on a rectangular base. The base is applied in white with a putto lying on a swag suspended from torches. The gold is rich, and the cobalt is finely decorated with gold. Even the underside of the trumpet rim is decorated. They measure(each) 9" long 11.25" tall by 4" deep. What a beautiful pair of Old Paris Style Porcelain Vases. I am not sure of the age. But they are vintage. I love the pink porcelain, it's so pretty! The fluted shape with leaf motif at base are all trimmed in gold and decorated with an oval rose spray on both sides. The vases stand 9 1/2" tall x 7" wide x 5" deep. These vases date to around 1840-1860. The vases have a beautiful pink background color. With gilt designs of scrollling leafy vines. Each vase has a hand-painted Swiss lake scene, very lovely and idyllic. A wonderful pair of vases for any home, great for a bouquet but easily attractive enough to display on their own. Each vase has a museum style accession/deaccession number in red on the underside. As well as the number 5. The vases are in great overall condition. One vase has a small chip to the exterior of the rim. With a hairline crack on the interior that extends about half an inch into the mouth. About halfway around the rim from that is another ... morehairline, which is only visible on the interior, about 3 inches long. The other vase has a hairline starting at the rim and extending about 1 1/2 inches into the mouth. None of these issues is visible from the front of the vases, as they would be displayed. We are pleased to offer a pair of exquisite sill vases from an old Charleston family estate from the 1800's. Rare and in near perfect condition 17 1/2" tall by 7 Wide. In the 16th century. Trade with China began, and in the European aristocracy the collecting craze was born. Rulers in Italy, Germany, and France so desired the fine porcelains of the Chinese nobility, that they began costly experimentation to try to duplicate the secrets of real hard paste porcelain. Many tried to recreate the delicate ceramic beauties, but none achieved success until 1708, at Meissen, in Germany. Quickly, workmen who knew the ways were bribed and sponsored by nobles to come set up production in other ... morelocations. Hard paste porcelain production came to France in the early 1740s at the Vincennes factory. But was moved promptly to Sevres and taken over by King Louis XV, who enacted laws restricting other French manufacturers, creating a virtual monopoly. Paris' potters, decorating studios, gilders, and merchants were so vocal with their complaints over the restrictions, and public demand for the fine pieces was so high, that eventually the King's Council relaxed the rules to allow manufacture of monochrome pieces without gilding or relief decorations. Soon factories were seeking the patronage of nobles(most famously Marie Antoinette) for protection from the authorities. Influence, and a secure source of business, which caused the royal factory, and in turn, the King's coffers, to suffer. Underpaid royal artisans and disgruntled craftsmen often stole molds and materials from Sevres to seek new employment with competing Parisian houses. Eventually the often ignored rules were relaxed, and the French revolution saw to the end of royal privileges and the resulting restrictions. We are offering a wonderful pair of signed(CF) Christian Fischer for Pirkenhammer mid 19th century handpainted fine hard paste porcelain spill vases in exceptional original condition. These are 8" tall and are 6.5" wide at the flared top. I bought these quite a few years ago and am now downsizing my personal collection. These were probably made between 1831-1859- during the tenure of Christian Fischer and the signature is consistent with other similar items sold at auction houses. A damaged pair recently sold at auction for $950.00. not Ebay) When I first found these I thought they were produced by Charles Field(Haviland) who had an association with Pirkenhammer at some point in the mid 1800's. The porcelain on these pieces is Haviland quality and not thick like cheap mid century porcelain and I believe a similar blanc pattern ... moreis in Haviland's early pattern book which I own but is in storage. I will try to unearth it to do more research. The Christian Fischer pieces for Pirkenhammer were considered to be one of the finest hard paste porcelains available at that time. This pair of spill vases has wonderful details from the blue on the feet and back of the vases to the individualized exceptional floral paintings on the front. C. 1880 This is a an ornate and elaborately decorated pair of Paris porcelain urns in vivid shades of crimson. Turquoise, peach and white overlaid with lavish gilt. The fronts and backs of the vases are decorated with figural and floral panels. One front panel depicts a cavalier and his bride in a garden on the day of their nuptials. Arm in arm, descending a staircase. The other vase has a depiction of a King and his Queen about to go on a hunt. He has his eager hound with him ... moreand wears a hunt horn slung across his robes. The Queen has a falcon perched on her hand. The back panels are turquoise. Overlaid with raised floral gilt. Each panel has a large white rondelle centre painting of a vivid floral spray, surrounded by a gilded frame of leaves. The vases have ormolu-like gilt rims with shell and scroll-work at the tops and gilded dragon's head handles on either side of the flattened trumpet-shaped tops. The lower portion of the trumpets below the panels are decorated with raised. Coloured panels in crimson, turquoise and peach, banded and overlaid with gilt. The trumpets are affixed to the porcelain bases by a concealed threaded mounts. The elliptical. Flared two-tiered bases are white, with crimson and turquoise panels, overlaid with the same floral gilt decoration as the backs. The base tiers are separated at the top and in the middle with white ruffles. Banding and shells in white, overlaid with gilt. The base has a curled gilt band around the foot. The animals are very well detailed, and both vases seem to be in excellent condition since there's no crack, no chip, no break, no defect that I can see. Could they be Old Paris, or Limoges? Antique Pair of Large Old Paris Porcelain Portrait Vases 19 inches 19th century
This is a pair of wonderful Old Paris porcelain vases that are a massive 19 5/8 inches tall. They are 10 ½ inches wide. The vases are decorated with a portrait of a girl on each one. The portraits are hand painted. The vases are decorated with peach and gilt. They have molded floral handles and floral rims. The only mark on the bottom we could identify is 658. Which is likely a pattern number. These date to the mid 19 th century. Likely the 1850’s. It is quite possible they are Haviland, but we did not find the pattern in our Haviland book. They are in excellent condition. There is some gilding loss and one small chip on the underside of one leaf(which cannot be seen from the front. There is also a spot beside one of the girls, but we are not sure what it is. Please see photos for details.
