With rose and leaf medallion border, printed title and maker on the reverse, 11 x 15 inches. In Weathersfield, Connecticut, made for the Connecticut Society of the Colonial Dames of America. A short explanation of"Hospitality Hall" is glazed on the back of the plate. Plate is printed"Wedgwood of Etruria& Barlaston, Made in England" and stamped"WEDGWOOD 11 0 62" Other plates in the historical series include the Mayflower, the Boston Tea Party, Washington Crossing the Delaware, and the White House. 16" Historical Dark Blue Staffordshire Fox Hunting Scene 19th C. platter NICE!
Here is a wonderful. Original 19th century historical blue platter from Staffordshire featuring a group of fox hunters and their hounds gathered outside of a roadside tavern or inn(probably named the White Horse from the sign depicted) It measures 13.25" top to bottom and 16.5" across. Condition is excellent. With absolutely NO chips, cracks or repairs. There is one tiny glaze pop at the right border pointed out by my finger. Very light wear to platter surface. A small blue W and number 16 impressed are the only markings. The only reference to this piece I could find online was an identical platter sold at White's Auction in Middleboro. Dark Blue Historical Staffordshire MOUNT VERNON George Washington SUGAR BOWL BOX
An antique Dark Blue Staffordshire transferware sugar bowl or box. Dating from the early 1800s. The pattern is identified on the bottom as"Mount Vernon, the seat of the late Gen'l Washington. The view on the side shows General Washington on the front lawn of Mount Vernon, with a groom and horse, and the portico of the house in the background. Beyond on the left is the Potomac, showing the sails of a schooner. The border and lid are decorated with flowers, and the handles have an embossed floral pattern. There is no maker's mark. But the pattern is discussed in"American Historical Views on Staffordshire China" by Ellouise Baker Larsen, on page 237. The body of the sugar bowl is in very good condition. With only one repaired chip in one corner, shown in a photo. The lid has a chip on one corner, and a hairline inside, ... moreand the finial has been broken and re-glued.
