Up for auction we have a dark blue Staffordshire Gravy tureen from Enoch Wood's grapevine border series. The tray is labeled" Gubbins Hertfordshire" Overall in great condition with just a small chip on the inner lip of the tray where the tureen sits in. That is it no other damage or repairs. It has nice crisp transfers and shiny glaze. It is a very clean piece. The tray measures 6 1/4" by 8" and the tureen sits 6 1/2" tall. Montana. It was made in Staffordshire, England and distributed in the US by Rowland and Marcellus, sometime between 1899 and 1937. This plate has the dark blue transfer that is highly sought after. The center shows a cowboy on a horse and is titled, Bronco Busting" Around the wide rim are several different cameo scenes from Butte, Montana, including: MOP Shelter, Anaconoa Mine, Washing gold in Montana, Big Butte and Water ... moreReservoir, and one that I just cannot make out the wording on it. This auction is for a Lovely Antique Historical Blue and White Staffordshire handleless tea cup or tea bowl with a Unusual design with a Pheasant. A flying bug, grapes and flowers. The piece Displays Wonderfully and is a Great Example of 19th Century Historical Blue pottery. It is unmarked but it was clearly produced by one of the potteries in the Staffordshire region of England in the early to mid 1800s. Rare Rural Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Soft Paste Dark Blue Tranfer Cup
Up for auction is this rare handless cup and saucer with dark blue transfer decorations. The scene depicted is what appears to be a log cabin in the distance in a bucolic rural countryside. In the foreground is a woman in a bonnet carrying a basket of flowers with two children. The woman is giving the children the flowers. The cup and saucer are pearlware softpaste. The saucer measures 5” wide and 1 ¼” tall. The cup measures 3 ½: across and 2 ¼” high. Condition overall is very good to excellent. The glaze is shining w/o scratches or staining and transfer is very dark and clear. The saucer has a small spot where the clear glaze did not cover the transfer. That blemish measures 1/8” by 1/16” it looks like a spot of dirt– see pictures. The saucer has a chip ½’ x ¼” at some time it was colored. It is only on the outside ... moreand does not break the lip. Also a very small chip- 1/16” to ¼” on inside of foot. Overall. Pearlware Childs Miniature Plate MONASTERY ON THE HILL Wm Hackwood ~ Staffordshire England c.1830 This is stunning and scarce pair of historical Staffordshire toy dishes. C. 1830, made as part of a complete children's transferware dinner service. The dinner plates each measures 3" in diameter with a turned foot, transfer printed in a rich cobalt blue with a pearlware glaze. The plate was impeccably potted and finely detailed. Depicting a farmer and his cow walking at the foot of a hill, with a humble cottage in the foreground and a church monastery at the top of the hill. Morning glories and lilies on a vine wind around the border. The pattern name is most commonly known as Monastery Hill. Also referred to as Monastery on the Hill and/or Institution. The plate is unmarked. Other plates in this pattern are sometimes impressed HACKWOOD ... moreon back. William Hackwood was an esteemed pottery maker in the Staffordshire district of England in the 1830s. The quality of the form and detailing of the engraved image is far superior to what would be expected on these diminutive sized pieces. The plate is in only fair condition. This sale is for a pretty Historical Staffordshire Blue and White Serving Bowl in the Morea Pattern which is marked Stone China and is Circa 1800's. The Serving Bowl's pattern features a man walking in a garden setting with his dog. There is a classical building in the background and another classical structure in the foreground. The Bowl is also decorated with very pretty flowers. Even the back of the Bowl is beautifully decorated. The Bowl is about 10-1/4" in diameter and 2-5/8" tall. There are no cracks. Discoloration or hairlines but there is a glaze style chipping on the bottom rim of the Bowl. The Morea Pattern also comes in Flow Blue but this is a traditional Blue and White design. This is a vintage"Liberty Blue" Minute Men teapot. The pattern is from an original copper engraving of historical colonial scenes and is printed on Staffordshire ironstone china in England. The"minute men" scene is duplicated on each side of the teapot. The teapot measures 6 1/2 inches tall with the"hooked" lid in place and 5 inches with the lid removed. 9 inches wide(end of spout to end of handle) and 4 5/8 inches deep. There are no chips or cracks in the"Liberty Blue" teapot. This teapot was pre-owned. I do not see any evidence of prior use. RARE Historical Staffordshire Blue De Witt Clinton Erie Canal Plate 10" 1828
Here's a gorgeous and rare English Blue Transfer Staffordshire De Witt DeWitt Clinton Eulogy Plate. This is the 10" diameter version. The largest made. It was made in England around 1828. This plate commemorates De Witt Clinton, Mayor of New York City and Governor of New York, and the primary force behind the building of the Erie Canal(Clinton's Ditch) which, when opened, transformed New York into the most powerful state in the union, and gained it the nickname, The Empire State. Clinton passed away in 1828. This is the Eulogy version of this pattern, which denotes that Clinton was the"Late" governor of the state. Condition is excellent with no chips or damage, just the usual crazing to the glaze(noticeable only on the back) that happens with time. There is one or two small scratches to the center area, very hard to ... moresee unless you tilt it just right in the light. There is a white spot along the rim(at around the 5 o'clock point) which looks like a small chip but this is under the glaze, so it is how the plate was made. The blues are deep and vibrant. The center features a memorial to De Witt Clinton, the rim features lovely scenes of the Erie Canal and barges. These are extremely rare(especially the large 10" version) and in this lovely condition. Check out the De Witt Clinton Staffordshire pitcher I also have for sale. Rare items that you don't want to miss! This rare antique English blue transfer Staffordshire plate honors New York Governor De Witt Clinton for his invaluable contributions to the construction of the Erie Canal. This plate is in the rarest size(10.25" and dates to about 1828. The year De Witt Clinton died. The border contains medallions of canal boats and canal scenes. This plate was manufactured from about 1825-1828 by an unknown maker in England in four sizes(3.75. 5.75, 8.5, and 10.25" The plates manufactured in 1828 reference the"late" governor and are called"eulogy" plates. Circa 1845 George Phillips Longport Staffordshire England. 9 1/2" Bowl. LOBELIA. No chips. No cracks. There is some roughness to some parts of the edge of the bowl. Utensil marks on front surface. Some staining on front surface and you can see a small 1/4" spot in bowl that glazing has chipped exposing pottery underneath(see image) On the reverse I find a spot where glazing is very thin. Reverse is discolored with evident staining.

My guess is it is from the late 1800's, the only mark in blue as shown says this- WHITE HOUSE, WASHINGTON, D.C. and there is a small 4 in blue, and also impressed a 4 above a 97, it does have a small old hair line crack on the edge, I measure this at not quite 1 inch, and there is old crazing/ crackling about the back as well. the color Blue is Really Deep and Beautiful, it has roses as the border pattern, and also the border rises upward, otherwise this is Not flat. and it measures across 10 inches. this will ship insured by priority mail.

STRAUSS& SONS NEW YORK" on base. It has 1492 on the top of the handle and Discovery of America running down the handle. And Landing of Columbus is first scene on center front. It is has scenes on the top bulbous rim of"FREMONT RAISING THE FLAG" DU QUESNE" CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS" FERNANDO DE SOTO" LANDING OF THE PILGRIMS" AMERIGO VESPUCCI" It has several scenes and explorers who were instrumental in the discovery and history of this country. Ebay Listing Page Antique Staffordshire Historical Dark Blue Transferware Wash Bowl& Pitcher I tem Description: Up for auction is a stunning antique historical dark blue transferware wash bowl and pitcher manufactured in Staffordshire. England during the early 1800s. The set depicts Wells Cathedral in Somersetshire with a family seated by a pond watching the father fish. The border displays various acanthus leaf. Geometric, and floral details. The bottom of each piece is marked with the pattern name and overall the bowl measures approximately 11 1/4" in diameter while the pitcher stands about 8 3/4" tall. Item Condition: The overall condition of the set is very good. It is extremely clean and it has no chips. Cracks, or repaired areas with the exception of a 7/8" chip to the underside rim of the bowl and a 1" hairline ... moreoff the rim. The pitcher also has a 5/8" chip to the right side of the spout, two small chips to either side of the top rim around the spout, and scattered glaze flakes to the handle and one on the body of the pitcher. The white earthenware is still very bright and the blue color is deep with nice contrast. The glaze is glossy with no crazing. And there are standard utensil marks on the surface of the bowl from use at one time. The base rims display standard rubbing as you might expect.
