The hand painted mark on the underside was used by the company from 1894 to 1900. We tried hard to find who this mark belonged to and we believe but can’t guarantee that we are correct about this. Each figure stands approx 4 ¼ in. tall. The female appears to be harvesting grapes and the man appears to be putting a bunch of them in his pocket or perhaps under his coat. The man’s black hat has a yellow quatrefoil embellishment on it and the woman’s black hat has a red band. She has one foot propped up on what may be a tree stump. The hand painted embellishment on their shirts is similar His coat ... moreis green and his pants a reddish brown with delicate. Incised vertical stripes. Her skirt is green with a yellow overskirt. In addition to the hand painted blue mark on the bottom of each. Each is impressed with the number 18, These two figures have beautiful faces and each one seems very intent on the matter at hand. Condition is good with an exception. There is a chip on the top of the grape vine and there also is some loss on the tip of the front-most part of the vine. The gold horizontal lines on the base of each figure show some loss. The figures themselves have no chips. Cracks or crazing. These were quite dusty when we acquired them and they may still have some dust in crevices here and there. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Hank's charts were typically odd meter but this great piece is a straight ahead funk chart as only Hank could write. Of course, there are some 7/8 measures in the chart, as it is HANK LEVY! The chart was published in 1978 by THE TIME REVOLUTION. While printed, it is in Hank's beautiful manuscript. The chart is scored for 5 saxes(some flute work on alto 1& 2, tenor 2 and bass clarinet on the bari part) 5 trumpet parts(flugel on the 5th part) 5 trombones(bass trb on the 5th part) bass, drums, guitar ... moreand piano. It comes with a CONDENSED SCORE. Hank Levy was a master of composing jazz charts and a terrific person! If you have never experienced a Hank Levy jazz ensemble chart, you have a treat in store.
