Up for auction we offer a Beautiful Pair of Nineteenth Century Ironstone china plates. Dating from the mid 1800's. The lovely Pair of Antique English plate measures 9 inches in diameter. Each plate has an outer band of cobalt blue and great imari colors. Since they are done in a traditional Imari palette. Their radiantly hand-painted colors of cobalt blue. Rust red, and burnt orange shine. The plates are lavishly decorated using the Imari colors and rich use of gilt touches to depict a river scene; pagodas. Trees and sail boats. The plates are in excellent condition. There are no chips. Cracks or crazing to either of the pair the plates. They are beautifully hand painted and glazed plates. They would make a fine addition to any collection of superb English porcelains. There is some minor loss of gilt to the inner blue band of one plate ... moreand two spots where the glaze did not take on the back of the other. Antique English Doulton and Burslem 20 inch Imari Ironstone Platter 19th HUGE
This is a huge Doulton ironstone charger from the late 19th century. It has floral decoration in the Imari palette which was quite in vogue at the time. The platter is 20 inches long. 16 ¼ inches wide and 2 ¾ inches deep. There is a gold rim along the edge. The piece has an impressed mark on the back which we believe says 10-85 for the date. It also has a stamped mark which reads Doulton and Burslem. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some gold loss around the edge due to handling. There is a tiny spur on the top of the platter which is original.

Gorgeous Pair 6 3/4" Antique English Derby Imari Porcelain Shallow Bowls I tried researching this particular mark but couldn't find it. I believe it is a 19th century English Derby hallmark. Beautiful Imari pattern with cobalt flow blue. Dark brownish red, and gold colors. No damage but there is some paint wear along the rims. The hallmark on the back looks like japanese writing with"DERBY" beneath it. This hallmark is under the glaze. There also appears to be a letter"N" off to the side. The bowls measure 6 3/4" across and stand 1 1/4" tall. Please feel free to ask questions. I would love to hear from you if you have any info on these bowls. Particularly, the age. For your consideration is a very old English Ironstone tea set from the Staffordshire region dating to the 1850’s or possibly earlier. The decoration is referred to as Gaudy Welsh Imari. A mix of design elements from Wales and Japan with French in the top knops and mold shapes. This set is a seven piece set comprised of a teapot with lid. A sugar with lid, a creamer and two cups and saucers. The teapot measures 4-1/2” in diameter. Stands 4-1/2” tall, is 2-3/4” in diameter at the base and is 7” from tip of spout to end of handle. The sugar bowl measures 3-1/4” in diameter. Stands 3-3/8” tall, is 2-1/4” in diameter at the base and is 4” from end of handle to end of handle. The creamer measures 2-1/4” in diameter. Stands 2-1/2” tall, is 1-5/8” in diameter at the base and is 3-1/4” from tip of spout to end of handle. The saucers measure 4-1/2” ... morein diameter. The tea cups measure 2-3/4” in diameter. Stand 1-1/2” tall, are 1-3/8” in diameter at the base and are 3-3/8” from the end of the teacup to the end of the handle. There is a scroll design back stamp on the bottom of all pieces except for the cups whose bases were too small to accommodate the back stamp. This scroll mark should not be confused with the scroll mark found on some post 1861 Minton pieces with the added words of Amherst Japan. The mark on this set has yet to be manufacturer identified. Inside the scrolls are the hand lettered numbers“664” painted in red which were quality control codes referring to the person who decorated the piece. Additionally some of the pieces have impressed mold numbers. The condition of this set is remarkably brilliant. Considering its age. Pre-1860 or earlier, I would have expected to find numerous chips, cracks, repairs etc. I have examined each piece very closely and do not find any such problems with the exception of a few manufacturing flaws and a very faint ½” long crack to one of the saucers. This gorgeous plate was in a box lot I purchased from an antique dealer. It was tagged by the dealer as"19th century Imari. There is no makers mark on the bottom. But the pattern looks like early Royal Crown Derby, which would date it to the early 1800s(RCD started producing Imari in 1811) The plate measures 7 inches in diameter and is in excellent condition for its age. The edges of the plate are scalloped and fluted, with one small unobtrusive chip(see photo) It is painted in the traditional Imari palette-deep cobalt blue, red, green-and heavily gilded. Antique English Imari Style Biscuit Barrel Ironstone 19th Century Cracker Jar
This is a unique and lovely English biscuit barrel done in Imari style and colors. It is made of ironstone and there is crazing. It is heavily gilded. With a good bit worn away(please see photos for details. This is a combination of transfer ware and hand painting. The cobalt blue is quite nice. The jar, including lid, stands 6 3/4 inches tall and is 6 inches at its widest. It is marked on the bottom, but we have not been able to identify the maker. One plate has an original firing crack on the bottom rim and 2 old very tight hairlines which only show from the under side. They do show some kiln grit and pops. Beautiful hand decoration with lots of gilt highlights. No Chips have been noted no cracks other than the previously mentioned hairlines. I stand by my descriptions. This is a beautiful old sauce tureeen from England. The lidded tureen sits about 6.5" tall and the matching underplate measures about 7.5" in diameter. There are no maker's marks at all on either the plate or the tureen. Decoration is lovely. Especially, the wonderful painted lion faces on the handles as shown in the photos above. Iron red, deep blue, and gold are commonly referred to as"Imari" decoration. There is a 1" hairline on the underplate(see above photo) One handle on the tureen has been repaired and is very stable. Some crazing. Lid needs to be turned to find the place it best rests. Design paint is in fabulous. Bright condition and surface is shiny. All that said, this is a lovely old piece. Deep green enamels and cobalt blue with an exquisite bird. The bird is enameled in deep blue/cobalt, yellow and red, with delicate gilding outlining the body. The Japanese garden motif is exquisite on this Victorian period antique. The Tureen is in nice condition. Some signs of wear through use. Dimension: 7” tall. 5 5/8” opening. English Staffordshire Cobalt Inset Swags Imari Plate We are pleased to offer this lovely unmarked mid-19th century English porcelain luncheon plate- manufacturer unknown to us- possibly Maddock. Thomas Hughes, Wild Brothers, Colclough, Salisbury or Melba. This piece is pre 1908 when wares were not required to be marked for export. Any help with identifying the pattern or maker would be appreciated. This pattern is somewhat like the Calodonia pattern by Alfred Meakin. Our pattern features a smooth rim with cobalt blue panels on a band that includes green insets with burnt orange/rust flowers accompanied by swags decorated with roses and 22k gold trim on the rim. The colors remind us of Japanese Imari that was so popular in the Victorian era during the fad for all things Japanese. This lunch plate measures 8 7/8"in diameter.
