Six Gold Tone NS Demitasse Spoons in Original Box
These beautiful gold demitasse spoons were from my Uncle Erick who. From my best estimate, brought them from Sweden in the 1930's. I do not have any indication of a manufacturer or designer. The only designation on the spoons is"NS" After researching on the internet, the information I was able to discern was that"NS" means gold plated with a base of metal, usually being a mixture of nickle and silver. Don't hold me to that, however; it would be best to do your own research if you are unsure. The handles flair out with what I would describe as a shell like design. The spoons measure approximately 4 5/16 inches long. From the looks of the spoons I don't know if they have ever been used. They would make a wonderful accompanyment to demitasse cups. Especially if they are trimmed in gold. The spoons are in their ... moreoriginal box. Lined with gold satin. The box is not in the best condition, but then again, not in the worst. I have pictured one side that shows the side of the top portion is missing. The back has been taped to hold it together, but it looks fairly good. This Demitasse Cup& Saucer would make a great gift for an architect or admirers of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is called"Imperial" china and adapted from a design by Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed the old Imperial Hotel in Tokyo in 1923. As well as the china for it's restaurant. The gold designs on cup and saucer are based on some of the architectural details featured in that hotel. Saucer is 4 5/8" in diameter. Cup is 2 1/2" in diameter x 2" tall. Bottom marks are"IMPERIAL" for Tiffany& Co. c. 1995 F. L. WRIGHT FDN, JAPAN. Cup and Saucer are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. All of the gold trim is intact. I do not know the maker other than that. The spoons are gold washed all-over, front and back, and they feature enameled flowers with a champleve enameled background on each spoon. Each spoon features a different flower on the back. The spoons are 4" long, and have a combined weight of 58 grams, almost 2 troy ounces. They are in excellent condition, no issues whatsoever.
