A nice vintage Verbelfa Krommenie tea tin with silvered interior and hinged lid. Decorated on five sides with design of 18th c. Delft tiles. Delft Tile" Tea Tin(1920's)Verbelfa Krommenie" printed under lid. On front of the tin's lower lip) Mfr by Verbelfa Canning Company located in Krommenie, North Holland. DESCRIPTION: Blue Artwork on White background each side of tin illlustrates hunt animals: dog, rabbit, fox; top/lid depicts Dutch/Holland huntsman. Great condition. There is absolutely no rust, super clean, there are a few blue dots on one side that appear to be paint but maybe are original part of tin, I am not sure but they do not detract from the beauty of the tin. Measures ~5" tall x 4 1/2" wide. Re: Re-Glazing- Perhaps this occurred in some instance with these tiles. I noted a milky glaze drip over a chipped area on one tile. And re-glazing from what I have read, could certainly cause that. Please inspect the high resolution photos of these beautiful tiles carefully prior to placing your bid. Tin Glazed& possibly re-tin-glazed as I found reference to"re-glazing Delft tiles" in the minutes of a meeting of the Historical Society in St. Augustine. Using the term"mint" is risky. HOWEVER,I'll say pristine is an understatement, with absolutely no flaws to the face or edges(a smudge on the clay underneath) From what I gathered, this cloisonne' Delft tile was made in the 20's to 30's(any knowledge from an expert would be welcome) by the De Porceleyne Fles Delft Pottery, and it is stamped on the back with an early mark and it has holes through the back and top for hanging.
