MidCentury Hand-Painted Delft Blue Windmill & Harvest Dutch Holland Ceramic Tile
5.25" by 5.25" size square tile of 1/4" thickness. It dates back to middle 20th century. The original hook was removed from the back of the tile. This can be used as a wall decoration. Trivet or in a mosaic. There is a chip on the back the corner of the tile. Which does not affect the front of the tile(as shown in photo#4) The photo is quite enlarged- kind of like viewing the tile under a microscope. The true size of the chip is 1/4" by 1/4" Please see my other Blue Delft items. Purchasing 2 or more items at the same time will cut the shipping charges drastically.

Porceleyne Fles Delft Cloisonne tile with a windmill, cow and chickens
This cloisonne tile was made by the famous Porceleyne Fles Delft. It shows a cow. Windmill and chickens in a typical Dutch landscape. The inscription means: Eendracht maakt macht = Unity is strength It was ever issued by the Dutch savings bank in 1948 with their 50 year anniversary. The dimensions are 12 x 12 cm = about 4.8 x 4,8 inch. The weapon you see on the tile is from the Dutch city Utrecht. Under the weapon you see a white dot. Thats paint and I removed it after I made the picture. The condition is excellent. No chips, cracks or repair. See my 2 other Westraven tiles. I will combine items. Shippingcosts worldwide 36$. Older DELFT TILE with 3-FLOWER/POT WESTRAVEN Hand Painted/ Hand MADE
Offered here today is an older DELFT TILE from the WESTRAVEN Factory. Prior to De Porcelyne Fles taking over the company. Westraven was well known for both it's tiles and it's very high quality screened ware(still to this day) They were top of the line in both fields. THIS tile dates from that period of time PRIOR TO being incorporated into the Por Fles when BOTH HAND-made AND hand-painted tiles were still being produced(about 1980-85, I'd think) THIS tile(and THIS IS the exact tile buyer will receive) was BOTH hand-made and hand-painted. Clay was literally pressed out and hand cut into the forms for these tiles and each is unique with it's"hand-made-ness" ALL these hand-made tiles were made withOUT any signature or pressed-in logo as is seen in the machine-pressed, perfectly square tiles. This tile is in the mulberry/white ... morecolor. Notice the corner-motieve with the corner holes for the spacers.just like in the olden days. This is for that special tile collector. It is in perfect condition, just like the day it was made. In THIS particular tile design, I have several available EACH one UNIQUE, as they were each hand-made and hand painted. It was manufactured by the factory of George Gilliot in Hemiksen/ Antwerp. Belgium, but decorated by hand in Holland. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The factory was founded in 1897 by George Gilliot in Hemiksem. As floor and wall tile factory, with John Salt, a ceramic specialist trained at Sèvres, as technical director. At the turn of the 20th century, the firm saw rapid expansion with a working force reaching nine hundred personnel in 1913. The last tiles were produced there in 1978 and the company was closed down by Sphinx Maastricht in 1985( the information is taken from the website of the British Museum in London) The tile ... moreshows a man/ peasant carrying a large sac on his back. Nicely glazed surface. Fine. Light colored clay with no mica(sparkling inclusions) No crazing. The tile is stamped with the factory's insignia: a capital H within a circle and the writing MADE IN BELGIUM(hard to see in the photos) There are 5 more impressed circles with a grid pattern within. 1 circle with the numbers 538 and S4F within and one more circle with the letters FF. The letters FF stand for the date of manufacture. Ie. 1966. It originally had a triangular hook for suspension. On the whole. It is in a remarkably good pre-owned condition! I can see no damage to the tile. We have a total of 4 tiles in this design. With no apparent damage. They may need a little cleaning. Three tiles have traces of a blue stamp that originally said: Handpainted. Made in Holland Please study the photos carefully before bidding. Because they are part of the description. This is a canal scene featuring water. A man in a boat, bull rushes, a country manor, storage or silo bin, windmill, birds, trees and another building in the distance. Reverse side is marked: DELFT ~ HANDPAINTED ~ MADE IN HOLLAND ~ 5-POINTED CROWN MARK.I can't be certain if this is in blue or green. It was our understanding that these items were from a store in Niagara Falls that closed down in the 70's. Which makes sense, because many of the items were wrapped in newspapers from the area and time mentioned. However, we also found many, many items that were wrapped in the La Presse(Montreal, Quebec, Canada) from the 60's. Additional items were wrapped in a Dutch newspaper from the 60's also. So it is a bit of a conundrum as to when and/or where these actually originate from. This Marvelous Earthenware/ Ceramic Tea Tile measures about 5 7/8 across the face Numerous marks on the back. None of which we have been able to ... moreidentify, the most. Please note: No nicks. Chips, cracks or crazing. The back needs a bit of a cleanup, but are are completely unsure what to use so as not to cause any damage, so we shall leave that up to you to decide.
