Cracks, hairlines or repairs. On the back of the piece there are two small areas that are unglazed on the edge and that would have occurred during the making of the piece. WONDERFUL ANTIQUE MARTHA WASHINGTON / MT. VERNON BUTTER PAT
From a local estate. Here is a very old and very patriotic butter pat. It pictures Martha Washington with red, white and blue ribbons, and Mt. Vernon with the same ribbon detail. There is an inner blue rim and an outer gold rim, although a lot of the outer gold rim has worn away over the years. This little butter pat measures 3 1/8" round, and is unmarked. There is glaze crazing consistent with its age. No cracks or body chips-the bottom ring is worn with several flea bites, again consistent with its age. You are looking at 9 pieces of Bone China. The creamer and sugar are Royal Grafton. The square dish is Roslyn. The dish with the rounded edges is Coalport. The 3 fluted dishes are Rosina. And the two leafed edged pieces are JAPAN. All but the last two are made in England. The creamer and sugar are in great shape with no damage. The creamer measures 3 1/4" tall 2 1/2" across and 1 3/8" across the bottom. The sugar dish measures 2" tall. 3 1/2" across the top and 1 3/4" across the bottom. These have all come from my mother in laws collection. The 3 Rosina dishes are measure 4 1/4" 4 1/2" across. There are no cracks or scratches. One dish seems to have an extra spot of porcelain on the yellow flower( of the smaller flower print) But I am not a collector so I am not sure how to describe this. Antique/ Vintage“The Australia” Hotel Sydney Butter Pat Grindley Hotelware Co. Super Vitrified China Here is a pretty butter pat. Measuring 3.25” in diameter, from The Australia Hotel in Sydney. It is in near mint condition, having just a very slight rough surface along the rim, likely from stacking but possibly from manufacture. It is bottom-marked“Duraline Super Vitrified Grindley Hotelware Co. England, Gibsons& Paterson PTY Ltd, Sydney, 2-41. There is also a hand painted blue mark on the bottom that looks like a“Y. From Wikipedia: The hotel had a large entrance onto the street in polished granite, the stairs grey, the doric columns red. The squared columns in the entrance foyer were imported Italian marble, and the magnificent neo-classical staircase which led from the main foyer to the first floor was completely in Carrara marble ... morein several colours. From that floor to the 10th a massive carved and highly polished mahogany Victorian grand staircase led to their rooms those guests, who, in the early days of lifts, still preferred to walk. The first floor contained a pillared corridor with various reception rooms, in addition to the Winter Garden- famous for its morning and afternoon teas, light luncheons, and theatre suppers" and the Moorish Lounge, leading to the huge dining room- the Emerald Room, with its highly decorated ceiling some 20 feet(6.1 m) above the guests, Italian chandeliers, and a dais at the west end containing a white marble operating fountain and other statues, engulfed in palm court style shrubbery. Sweet and dainty plates. Could be from children's tea sets or could be vintage butter pat plates-either way they are charming to display with miniature dishes. Six in one pattern of white body with gold and green border. Other three are an assortment of white, ivory and(what appears to be) transferware. None are marked on underside, but appear quite old. Austrian Imperial Antoinette Butter Pat Monogrammed Gold Trim
This 3-1/4" butter pat with gold trim and a"M" monogram is marked on the bottom as being made by Imperial of Austria and the pattern is Antoinette. It came with a set of Rosenthal Donatello and has the shape of that pattern so I am putting it in this category because it is a nice complement to the set(shown in other listings) It is in excellent condition with no chips. TWEED Butter Pat Dish. This is Desert Ware by Wallace China. Marked as K6. Measures a little over 4" in diameter. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks. This is a gorgeous piece of Royal Bayreuth marked Germany US Zone. It is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The top of the plate is blueish with a pink rose in the center. Victoria and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall. Staffordshire, England. The bamboo pattern was produced in the 1870s and 1980s. The mark also dates it to before 1897. The letters Ltd. were added to the name in 1897. Alfred Meakin was one of the most popular manufacturers of the Tea Leaf design. Favored over the plain white ironstone which was in common use in America. Condition: minor crazing and stains. As shown in the photos. In the second picture you can see a nick in the surface of the lid. Above the handle, toward the left. In the eighth picture you can see a nick with subsequent staining in the edge of the lid.
