Hi. Offered for sale is a small tray by Reed& Barton in the Windsor pattern. The tray is a little less than 3" by 2" I'm not sure what this was used for; maybe a butter pat but I had bought it years ago because I thought it was cute! There are initials on this which read HRM. Up for auction is a beautiful vintage butter pat with flowing and vivid deep blue color. It's gently scalloped along the rim and has an impressed design. The diameter is 3" No chips but has fine crazing. a small light yellow line stain is in the white part of the center in the form of a line. A pic is included, a little fuzzy but gives you a good idea. VINTAGE ST.AUGUSTIN FLA Hand Painted Butter Pats with Spanish Witty Sayings! These plates are very rare and unusual and are hard~to~find.I purchased these from an ESTATE sale of an elderly man who traveled and collected rare. Antique and vintage items. I do NOT know a whole lot about these except they are very RARE and have"witty" sayings on them. Which I did not take time to translate. None appears to have cracks nor chips. However, they do have pottery indentations in some area from when they were made, which is common. 2 of the plates have a soft scallop like rim with same sayings. 3 of the plates have a thick dark blue rim with same sayings and the last 1 has a thinner blue edge and a different saying. This is for the nice lovely Victorian butter dish shown. There is no makers mark. I believe this is an earthenware porcelain. Excellent condition for the age with no cracks. And only one tiny flea bite chip on the center circle of the insert dish. There is some crazing and age marks- consistent with over 100 years as this is probable late 1800s and English. These dishes were used with ice under the inner plates to keep the butter cold. Normal firing and manufacturing marks. It measures 5.25" diameter by 5" high. Please judge the condition by the photos.
