They were purchased in the UK. ~~~~ This is a nice matched set that has been well-cared for and is in remarkable shape. Both pieces show signs of use and age but given they are a hundred years old. A professionally restored water pitcher and basin of my great-grandmother(mid-to-late 1800) or great-great-grandmothers(early-to-mid 1800’s) No one seems to agree who first purchased it. The restoration job was very well done and most of the seams where pieces where put back together are not noticeable. Looking to find a new home for it. Each piece has its own box and hope to place both boxes in another one for added protection. Superb Lily of Valley James Edwards & Son White Ironstone Washbowl Basin 1859
This auction is for a Superb. Large& Rare White Ironstone Wash Bowl or Basin made James Edwards& Son in the Dalehall Pottery in Burslem, England. The piece has the company's impressed mark and Registration Diamond that dates to 1859. It is in the company's Beautiful Lily of the Valley Pattern. Which is an embossed design of molded bell shaped flowers and leaves along the inside of the basin. It is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no chips or cracks or stains. There are a few small glaze flakes on the edge and the bottom(see last two photos) age-appr opriate scrat ches on the inside base and crazing as is expected of ironstone of this vintage. It doesn't detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find. The piece is thick. Heavy and large with a high round foot. And the ironstone is very white ... morethroughout. The basin measures 15 3/4 inches across and 5 1/2 inches tall. It has the impressed Jas. Edwards& Son Dalehall England mark as well as as British registration diamond that dates the piece exactly to Sept. 1. 1859. What's great about these registration marks- if they are clear enough to read- is that they put you back to the exact day a piece was made. As a result. We know that this piece was made on the very same day as a great scientific discovery- The Biggest Solar Storm on Record. On that morning. Amateur astrologer Richard Carrington ascended into the private observatory attached to his country estate outside of London. After cranking open the dome’s shutter to reveal the clear blue sky, he pointed his brass telescope toward the sun and began to sketch a cluster of enormous dark spots that freckled its surface. Suddenly, Carrington spotted what he described as“two patches of intensely bright and white light” erupting from the sunspots. Antique White Ironstone Wash Basin and Soap Dish From Ironstone China Chamber Set Here is an antique white ironstone china wash basin and soap dish from a Victorian era bowl and pitcher chamber set. It is heavy ironstone. Both pieces marked"Ironstone China Warranted" in blue underneath. The blue maker's mark also features two standing lions. See the photos for a closeup look. The edges of the bowl are scalloped. The bowl measures a little over 10" diameter and 3 1/2" tall. The soap dish is 3 1/2" by 5 1/4" by 1" The glaze has crackled with age and the body is stained. The wash basin is 16" in diameter and 4 1/2" high. If you look close at the picures you will see there are brown streaks around the upper edge. They don't seem to come off. But they are in areas around the edge of the basin. There are some small light brown spots on the inside of the bowl which are in one of the pictures. They are in one of the pictures. There are no chips or cracks. There is some crazing on the very bottom. The chamber pot is 12 1/4" high. 7 1/4" diameter on the bottom, and 14 1/4" diameter which includes the handles on the top. There is a chip under the lid which is about 1/4" wide. There are other areas along the underside of the lid that are a bit rough but nothing really awful. There are no other big chips and no cracks. There is some crazing but nothing really awful. I have more pictures ... moreif you would be interested in more. I didn't know how to add more then the 12 allowed. The color is a dark green that lightens to an avocado green. These are very heavy items which have a lot of packing and a huge box. PLEASE NOTE* Please do not pay right away. The handle has been broken off and repaired in both places-this can be seen in the pictures. It also has a chip in the pink color on the top rim of the pitcher that can also be seen in the pictures. There is alot of crazing. It also has some color fading in a few spots. The pattern is beautiful though. Both pieces are marked Chester on the bottom. The pitcher measures approx. 13" high. Manufacturer Design Country of Origin Material Style Circa Charlotte Royal Crownford England Ceramic Country Kitsch 1950 Staffordshire Product Description This set is so beautiful. The pitcher and water basin are in perfect condition. The pitcher measures 5 1/2 inches tall by about 12 1/2 inches around and 5 1/2 inches wide. The basin/bowl measures 8 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 1/2 inches high. Both pieces are a creamy pale yellow color accented with burgundy roses in a yellow basket with green leaves. The pitcher is marked L2. There is very light crazing on the pitcher. None on the bowl. No chips, no cracks, no stains, no hairline fractures. There is a tiny blue ink dot on the pitcher, I think it was in the firing. Overall very good condition. I hope they find the right home as they are so beautiful.

Although I do not know the age of this wash basin bowl. It has been in the family for decades and I know it is vintage. Probably anitque. Measures approx 16 3/4" in diameter x 5 1/4" high. It has crazing throughout. A fine hairline surface crack. It also has what might be considered a chip but actually appears to more of a wearing off of the embossed pattern on the top of the rim. The edge itself is not chipped. It's a lovely pattern and a lovely piece. Thanks for looking!

SPRING SALE! Vintage Speckled Cream Colored Pottery Pitcher& Basin Set/ USA Pottery I believe this set is certainly authentic McCoy Pottery based by the markings. In Excellent Condition! No chips. Cracks, repairs or anything of that nature! The pitcher features an embossed design on one side of what looks to be grape bunches and leaves however it is possible that they are holly berries and leaves. It is difficlt to tell 100% positively because the raised design is in the same color as the entire set. The matching basin also features a design along the bottom portion. It is perfect for displaying mini flowers or using as a display set to hold many other items! This set is cream colored with speckles. These pieces have been gently cleaned with soap and water however the interior of the pitcher will need a better cleaning with a product ... moresuch as soft scrub. I did not want to chance breaking the pitcher by detail cleaning the interior. Together this set measures 6-1/8" in height. The pitcher ONLY measures 5-1/4" in height x about 4-3/4" in diameter x 5-3/4" long from spout to handle end. The basin ONLY measures 2-5/8" in height x 7-3/4" in diameter. The footed portion of the basin at the very bottom measures about 3-3/8" in diameter. The underside bottom of the basin is marked with letters that look like MCY or MOY and USA. It also looks as though it has a Copyright circle marking after the lettering. I took photos of this marking as shown on this listing however if you prefer I try to take additional photos.
