Antique miniature teapot. Carved from a champagne agate gemstone. Made in China. Late 19th- early 20th century. Measurements: 3 1/4 inches high to the tip of the finial. Total length from edge of spout to edge of handle is approx 4 1/4 inches. Weighs 142.4grams. Carved from a smoky pink agate. Beautiful soft colour with a lovely transluscence. Late 19th C. Antique Chinese Cadogan Teapot or Puzzle Winepot
This antique was found recently at an estate sale in our area and is a beautiful example of what is called a Cadogan pot or puzzle pot. Named after an English woman Lady Cadogan who supposedly fell in love with the plum shaped wine pots that had been made in China for centuries. The water or wine is poured into the hole at the bottom and then turned upright and poured normally, and it still works beautifully, but because there is no way to clean the inside of the pot you would not want to put anything inside that could spoil(like milk or tea leaves) Based on over 40 years experience buying and selling antiques we believe this particular pot was most likely made around the late 19th century and is in very good condition. There are NO cracks or damaged areas to the porcelain. Only the normal tiny imperfections that can occur in the glaze during ... morethe firing process, although at the top of the pot in the flower design there is a very small dark spot that could be a flaw or a small chip(see photo 8 near top) The old man on one side is carrying what looks like a staff or cane- this is NOT a hairline crack. Antique Japanese Hand-Painted w/ Gold Inlay Teapot Set, Creamer, Sugar, 4 Plates
Description: This marvelous old tea set belonged to my aunt. Who died shortly before WW2; and it has been in storage for over 70 years. My mother had told me that it dated from before the turn of the century, but I honestly have no idea of its actual age, nor do I know the style or pattern(In fact, I don't really know anything more about it at all) If anyone out there in eBayland has any information, please write and let me know. There are no chips of any kind, and no visible cracks; there seems to be a crack line in the top for the teapot, but it is in the white inner"neck" only(the part that fits down inside the teapot itself) and it only goes part way. I found one or two tiny"flea bites" in the finish, and what appears to be a small drop of white paint(it can probably be carefully removed, but I don't want to ... morerisk it with my eyesight) The inside of the two lidded pieces is still gleaming white, and they do not appear to have ever been used(the inside of the unlidded smallest piece has become dusty with age) The teapot is about 4.5" in diameter(not counting the spout and handle) and 6.5" tall; the sugar is about 4" in diameter(not counting the twin handles) and 5" tall; and the creamer is about 3.5" in both height and diameter(not counting the spout and handle) While the four 7.25" plates also have no chips or cracks of any kind, there are several small flaws in the finish(as shown in the lower left area in the photo) I believe they are due to improper storage rather than use, as we can find no signs of wear or"utensile scratch lines" in the finish. Additionally, the plates or dishes have no lettering or markings on the underside. As always, we will pay for the tracking and the mandatory insurance. Please Note: As you may know. This is a very old oriental teapot. It has cabochon stone eyes. It is hand hammered. Looks like a big gold fish. The tail is removable. Measure 10 inches long with the tail. It is in excellent condition for it's age. There is one little ding above the eye. See pic# 2. The makers mark is on the bottom on pic# 6. Check out my! Beautiful hand painted elephant Banko-Ware teapot. This elephant has a bright covered blanket with hand enameled flowers and seated atop of that is the finial rider. The teapot measures 8 inches in length and has a height of 6 1/2 inches. The inside rim is good and I find no chips. The trunk does show a separation line about 3/4 inches in from the end of his trunk running an inch down the spout. This exotic teapot has 8 curved panels to the body and lid. Decorated with repousse scrollwork. It sits on four acanthus leaf feet. And the handle also has an acanthus leaf motif, with two intact bone or horn insulators. The rare finial is a three dimensional gesturing Mongolian figure. Sitting cross-legged side-saddle, complete with headgear. His shirt. Possibly mail, is decorated with raised crosses. The detail is fabulous. To the underside is the maker’s mark“JAMES DIXON& SONS” used from 1835 to 1851. As well as some numbers whose significance is lost on us. Please see photos. The teapot stands 7” tall to top of finial and is 9 ¼” from the octagonal spout to handle. It is in very good used antique condition. It is extremely ornate with flourishes, four feet, handle with two heat stops. The top finial is two flowers on leafs. The overall pot looks like a pumpkin in its shape, to our eyes. We could not find a single thing on Raynor& Glover, so totally stumped. We estimate this to be in the 1800's. It measures approx. 8" high, 10" from handle tip to spout tip and 5" wide. I have conflicting opinions on this piece as to its country of origin, it could be French, German or Hungarian. I believe it it to be from the 1790s, I have seen very similar French Tea pots with different motifs from the 1790s. Vintage Antique hanging teapot and on the bottom mfd silverplated by Reed and Barton Taunton No 97. It is a teapot that has two"tongs" on each side to hang over the warmer which is undeneath on the stand. See pictures. the warmer has a cap that will open and I am not sure how it works but has a place for hot water. I took all the pieces apart and took pictures of all them. It is stable and only on inside, my guess is from actual hot water use in its heydey. It does not leak. There are alos old scuffs on base as show with slight paint wear. These are consistent with true age. High Bidder acknowledges accuracy of condition report and that they accept as-found condition of object. What a wonderful teapot with a pretty lady( her beautiful handpainted face almost looks more like young girl) in a gown holds a pitcher in her two hands which is the spout to pour. To make it extra special it is also a musical teapot which plays"Tea for Two" when you lift it to pour and the music stops when you put it back down on the table. I believe it is made by Lipper& Mann as I found one online identical to it that was. It is 9-1/4 inches tall and in very good vintage condition. Early and spectacular Chinese cider jug from the late Qianlong or Jiaqing dynasty. Stands 9 1/2" tall and 8" from spout to handle. The entire jug is covered in fantastic landscapes and floral patterns painted in brilliant colors. Primarily cobalt blues with gold edging. Large finial on lid is that of a Buddhist lion or foo dog. Braided handle typical of the style. There are no markings on the bottom. Overall excellent condition for its age. Areas with condition issues are two chips on the spout. One just larger than a flea bite and the other measuring 1/4" square. There is also a chip on the rim of the lid. This is the jug's largest condition issue and measures just under 1/2" wide. THIS RARE CLOISONNE TEAPOT FEATURES AN ELABORATE OPENWORK DESIGN ON THE FORM WITH CLOISONNE TRIMMING ON NECK. AROUND CENTER OF THE BODY AND ABOVE THE BASE. TURQUOISE ENAMELED IS IN THE INTERIOR, ON THE BASE AND THE BOTTOM OF THE LID. THE TEAPOT HAS BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS AND COLORS AND FINE DETAILS WITH ENGRAVED DESIGN OF AN ELEPHANT ON SPOUT AND A FOO DOG ON THE LID.
