But THEY could also just be a bronzed metal(sorry, metal ware is not an area I have specialist knowledge in) I have tried to research this item and I have eventually found just a few viking boats, viking figures and chests by this maker( EDW. AAGAARD of Copenhagen, Denmark) all described as bronze, and dating to the first half of the 20th century, but I have been unable to find a drinking stein/tankard such as THESE- so obviously not a common piece. It has ears of wheat/corn with Viking boats at sea and a large boulder supported by upright rocks overlooking the sea. UNUSUAL ANTIQUE EUROPEAN TALL PITCHER/TANKARD MONK LAMP
This is an unusual vintage/antique European tall Tankard/Pitcher which has been. Some time ago, made into a lamp. Pitcher depicts two scenes, one on each side, these appear to be hand painted. The base of the lamp measures about 3" tall and has a 9 1/2" diameter. The tankard alone measures about 15 1/2" tall and the lamp is 23 1/2" from bottom of base to the top of the socket. Condition is good with only minor wear to the painted finish. There are no major cracks. Chips or repairs. Antique Scandinavian Carved and Hand Painted Staved Peg Tankard Probably Norwegian The carving is light and depicts leaves on the slightly domed lid. With writing(which I presume is a drinking saying) around the rim of the tankard. There is light geometric around the edge of the handle, and fine dots to the lid edge and top of the peg handle. The naive hand painted roundels around the body of the tankard depict a man with a flag, a man with a bunch of flowers leaning on a fence and a girl in costume looking, and and another woman behind her. An antique William IV sterling silver campana shaped tankard/ mug. Hallmarked for London 1831. The hallmarks are rubbed and the maker's mark is particularly difficult to read; I have added a close-up below. The mug has taken a few knocks and has condition problems. The rim and the main body of the mug are out of shape and there are small holes around the mug. The base is also out of shape. There are no makers marks on this old tankard pitcher. Very nice drip glaze. It stands 12.5" at the highest. Base is 5" diameter. Top opening is about 3.5" excluding the spout extension. This auction is for a very nice antique English pewter tankard. This wonderful 1 pint tankard measures approximately 4 3/4" tall. It has a wonderful detailed handle and is stamped"VR(Victoria Regina) 396 Pint 4" there is a crown mark over the number"396" Queen Victoria ascended to the throne in 1837. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE TIN PLATED COPPER TANKARD MUG PITCHER Hand Forged & Hammered
Up for auction is a very nice antique tin-plated copper tankard. Hand forged and hand soldered. This diminutive mug stands approximately 4.5 inches tall and is about 3.5 inches in diameter. It has lines etched into the plating for decoration that are still clearly visible. I am no expert by any means, so I can't even hazard a guess on where this comes from or even how old it is. 1700s? 1800s? If anyone knows for sure, please send me a message and enlighten me-I'm really curious) It's a unique little piece-the pictures really don't do it justice. The plating is in fairly good condition-quite shiny-but there are some places where the copper is starting to show through. The bottom of the handle looks like it's coming apart from the solder but is still firmly attached by the rivets at the top. I didn't test this out to ... moresee if it holds water. But the bottom of the tankard seems quite solid with no holes or other defects that I could see(probably best not to drink from this anyway; There are some mineral deposits and other signs of wear on the inside. Antique Jean Pouyat Limoges 15 inch Tankard/ Pitcher that is hand painted with a Forest Scene with beautiful Stag& deer on meadow by Pickard Artist Carl F Koenig. The Painting is superb as you can see in photos. Koenig is listed in Pickard book and was quite a prolific artist for Pickard. As well as Julius Brauer and Edward Donath Studios before he opened his own China decorating studio in Chicago in 1915. He operated that studio until mid 1960's. I wish I knew more about this mug. It is obviously quite old; great for a primitive decor. Colors are tan with a blue paint. Everything is original. Here we have an exceptionally nice. 1880's era ~ CUT GLASS& REPOUSSE SILVERPLATE WINE CLARET JUG ~. It is absolutely beautiful, fine quality cut glass and there are no chips or cracks" which is quite amazing for being well over 100 years old" The lid and spout is exceptionally fancy as well. The hinge on the lid is going to need a little repair. The one loop is broken and will need one soldered one to secure the lid. The bottom portion of the hinge is in good condition with no damage. This is certainly the nicest example that we have ever had the opportunity to offer for auction. Gorgeous Antique Tankard. It is porcelain with a gold 3D raised Dragon handle. It is decorated in hand painted pinecones and leaves. It stands slightly under 6" tall. It is marked Bavaria on the bottom. On one side it has raised initials V.B.W. I am not sure if that is the artists or owners initials. Antique 1868 MERIDEN Silverplate Large Porcelain Lined Pitcher Tankard w Lid Here is a Large Antique marked on bottom Meriden Quadrupleplate Pat. 1868 Large Heavy Silverplate Pitcher with Lid. And a Porcelain Lining inside the pitcher. It has a letter" M" monogram on the front side. It is in Good Condition with no plate loss or damage. But does have oxidation and darkening from age. There a little band of plastic stuck to the bottom around the edge of the base that needs peeled off. The porcelain lining in bottom has some hairlines in it from age. It measures 11 1/2" tall x 10" wide from handle to tip of the spout. This is a Nice Large Antique Pitcher!
