This is a beautiful tankard. Marked J.P.L. FRANCE(Jean Poyat Limoges France. Ca.1890-1932) The piece is decorated with hand painted grapes and foliage on a pastel background of various colors. I don't see any wear or scratches on this painted part. The handle is dragon-shaped. And painted in realistic colors. It is still like new with no wear to the paint. The edge is gilded and still in good condition with only light wear to the gold. The tankard is in excellent condition without chips. Cracks or repairs. Only flaw I can see is what looks like a burst bubble in the glaze at the bottom of the piece inside(see picture) A factory imperfection in the white ware. The piece is impressive. 15" high at the spout. 6" in diameter at the base. 7 1/2" wide with handle, 3 1/2" diameter under the spout. 5 1/2" opening with ... morespout. I have added a picture of the tankard next to a regular size tankard and a bottle of beer to give an idea of its large size. A rare and precious piece for any collection. ANTIQUE VINTAGE HANDMADE COPPER TANKARD MUG
This is in good condition with a few dents to the copper. Both to the body of the mug and to the base. It has a slight wobble when sitting on a flat surface and the top is uneven from when it was made. The handle has a few dents and bends, also from when it was made. The copper has some rubs and wear, and it's also oxidizing in areas where it's turning green, which is mostly toward the top edge and where the handle meets the cup. It measures 6 1/4" tall. This is a beautiful antique mug marked JPL FRANCE(Jan Poyat Limoges. Ca.1891-1932) The tankard is 5" high. With a base 4 1/4" in diameter and an opening 3 1/4" wide. The piece is decorated with a bouquet of violets on a pastel background. The handle and the upper edge are heavily gilded. The tankard is in excellent condition with no chips. No cracks nor visible discoloration on the outside. Only light discoloration on the glaze inside. The gold looks to me in perfect condition. Old Red Clay Stoneware Mug Hand Turned. This has a cobalt blue decoration with a cream color or tannish glaze. Stein stands 6 1/4" tall and measures 3 3/4" across the top. The bottom is unmarked. I contacted a stoneware site and they think its possibly Delft. The inside bottom of the mug looks to have a crack in the glaze. I don't think it is in the mug itself. There is a glaze chip in the center of the design. On the blue band around the bottom of the mug and a small glaze chip on one of the blue dots going around the rim. I do not see any other damage. Antiques. Collectables, Paintings, Fine Ceramics and Glass ANTIQUE STAFFORDSHIRE SUNDERLAND"FROG" TANKARD MUG 4¾” This is a large antique Staffordshire or Sunderland Frog tankard. It has an embossed scene of three men drinking. The handle is modelled to represent wood. Inside is a pottery frog waiting to shock the drinker as he empties the tankard. A great joke in the mid 1800s. The figures are painted on the back and front of the tankard. The painting is rather naïve as it was usually the job of children to do the painting. No doubt on a production line would be a number of Victorian children and so quickly finished off without refinement. The rim. Two hoped circles near the base and the simple pattern on the handle are in the orange colour, often used in the Sunderland and Staffordshire potteries. The glaze on the tankard ... moreis quite rough in places; these items were not luxury items and were cheaply produced. There are areas where the colour has been lost. Particularly around the rim where it has flaked. Rather crazed and a little ingrained with age. Possible fine hairline outside to extend to inside but could be glaze as it appears stable. Antique Decorative Continental Silver Plated ? Tankard
An attractive silver or silver plated continental lidded tankard. Cylindrical form on three shaped reeded feet. Curved decorated hollow handle. With blow hole. Flat cover with acanthus thumb piece. Wonderful embossed decoration to main body- groups of people with barrels, buildings and trees. The cover is similarly decorated. Condition is very good. There are a few dents on the handle, and one of the feet is a little bent, but easily straightened. The cover hinge is a little loose, but I think it is made this way. Antique Chinese Export Silver Christening mug or small tankard in it's original English shagreen leather fitted case. Made circa 1850 by Custing. Canton, send-third quarter of the 19th century. Measurements: height of the case is a little over 4 inches. The mug/tankard is almost 3/4inches tall. Weighs 83 grams. Small tapered silver tankard or mug. As it is referred to in the book on Chinese Export Silver- the Chan Collection. Almost certainly a Christening gift. Classic shape, if a little more elongated and elegant than most. Naturalistically formed handle in the shape of a gnarled branch. The body of the tankard is engraved and chased with a variety of Chinese figures in a variety of pursuits, amidst flowers, foliage and natural rocky outcrops. Very profuse and finely done. Great quality. Very beautiful. The English shagreen leather ... morecase is superb: quite fitted including part tohold the handle. Shagreen slightly faded to a lighter shade of brown. But gilded and black borders are still amazingly clear. The box is shaped like the tankard and has a hinge to swing the sides open/closed and a thumb bit to help open the box. Purple silk in one half of the box is embossed with gold letters: Stephen Smith& Son over a pair of wings around 35 and beneath that King? Covent Gardens. A china 7 3/4" tall piece that has been hand painted on the outside. No artist signature. But well painted. A 5 hooded small men are making wine and squeezing grapes in barrel. Center of picture. Handle features metal man holding a stein Earthenware base with symmetrical decoration in rings around stein. Pewter top with ceramic inset featuring grapes and leaves. The lid medallion has been repaired. more obvious from inside. Great set of Mettlach marks underneath with date number 07. No reserve.

ANTIQUE 17thC GERMAN SOLID SILVER GILT EMBOSSED LIDDED TANKARD, OSTERODE c.1660
Description Antique extremely rare 17th Century German Solid Silver Lidded Tankard. Richly gilt, cylindrical form on spreading foliage chased foot, the sides are beautifully embossed and chased with St. Lawrence of Rome, holding the gridiron, St Catherine of Alexandria, holding the wheel, and St Bernard of Clairvaux, holding a crucifix, each below an engraved caption and within landscapes. Plain scroll handle terminating in an openwork cast foliage thumbpiece, the hinged cover with a chased band of foliage and flowers and with a flowering finial. Hallmarked German Silver to the foot, O" probably city of Osterode, year 1660's, Maker's mark HB conjoined. At least one mark recorded by M. Rosenberg in Der Goldschmiede Merkzeichen. Frankfurt, 1925, p. 276 as being a silversmith working in Osterode is now believed to actually be the ... moremark of a maker from Oschatz in Saxony. As there are no known silversmiths working in Oschatz with the initials HB it seems most likely that the origin of the present tankard in indeed Osterode. If this is the case there are two possible makers for the tankard, the first being Heinrich Bolte, a brewer and goldsmith who is mentioned as early as 1646 and whose last mention is in 1689. The second is Henrich Brauns whose only record is from 1689. Given the date of the present tankard it would seem that Heinrich Bolte is the most likely candidate, however in the absence of a known example of a mark for either maker it is impossible to be conclusive. Condition In Great Condition- No damage. Just general wear. For your consideration is an old Limoges. France stein/tankard/mug. It has the T&V Limoges France hallmark on the bottom. It stands 5 1/2 inches tall and the base is 4 1/4 inches in diameter. This was made and hand painted in the early 1900's. It is a shiny black color with golden leaves, vines and grapes. There is some texture to the gold designs. In the background you see pale green leaves and purple grapes on a creamy background. The inside is white. A small imperfection appears on the gold handle. There is a line that is not as smooth as the rest of the surface. It must have been done during the firing of the mug. I'm not sure you can see it in the photos. It is on the left side of the handle. I am only pointing it out to be accurate in my description. There are no stains, crazing or chips. A few scratches appear near the ... morebase.
