This depicts a golfer and his caddy, with lovely rolling hills and a house possibly the clubhouse? in the background and what I believe is real gold painted around the top inner rim. This is a beautiful tankard. Marked J.P.L. FRANCE(Jean Poyat Limoges France. Ca.1890-1932) The piece is decorated with hand painted grapes and foliage on a pastel background of various colors. I don't see any wear or scratches on this painted part. The handle is dragon-shaped. And painted in realistic colors. It is still like new with no wear to the paint. The edge is gilded and still in good condition with some light wear to the gold. The tankard is in excellent condition without chips. Cracks or repairs. Only fault I can see is what looks like a burst bubble in the glaze at the bottom of the piece inside(see picture) Probably a factory fault. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs and there is no crazing. Over-all the stein shows only very light wear, typically isolated to the base and with very limited wear to the gilding on the rim. Beautifully Etched Hand-Blown Glass Stein from the 18th Century 1750's. German. Made of pewter and clear glass. Extremely time consuming and detailed etch-work. Pictures provided with inserted piece of green felt to capture the etch-work detailing. Stein does not have any monogramming. Handle seems to have been broken and repaired at some point. Where it attaches to the holding vessel. Repair seems good and sturdy. A hard to find German Stein. As they often broke. A rare original. As etch-work was usually individualized. Antique 19th Century Yellow Ware Cobalt Salt Glaze Pitcher Grape& Trellis Motif We are very pleased to offer for auction a beautiful and rare antique yelloware salt glaze pitcher. The heavy tankard has a dark. Glassy cobalt salt glaze over yellow ware body that is embossed with a trellis and grape pattern. The rim and base are also bordered with a triangular geometric pattern. The pitcher measures 7 1/4" wide from spout to handle edge, 8" tall and has a diameter of 6" at it's widest point. The pitcher is in very good and sound condition with some crazing appropriate for age and minor glaze flaws typical of the manufacture of this type of pottery. There is very thin and shallow glaze flake on the edge of the base(1/8" or less long in photo#7) and a very fine. Vertical hairline on the top edge of the pitcher above ... morethe handle which measures about 1/2" There is also a very thin, horizontal 3" hairline at the base of the handle which appears to be mostly on the surface but may penetrate very slightly. Up for bids we offer a rare. 18th Century wooden tankard in very good, well-preserved condition. Made of pine staves and iron bands, this is the type of drinking vessel that was used in taverns as well as households. They are also considered Revolutionary War era artifacts. It has a folksy-looking carved handle that's actually part of one of the staves, not just attached. The bottom of this piece was carved to fit and is still in very good shape though it does have some inactive worm holes. The patina is untouched, original and absolutely beautiful. The surface shows age and wear as it should along with rich and warm coloring and superb graining. It stands 9 3/4 inches high and has a bottom diameter that measures 7 inches and a top diameter of 6 inches, not including the cover or handle. This is a very unique vintage German Puzzle Stein Tankard. Its large and made of fine porcelain. Crafty puzzle stein that you need to know the trick to drink from it without spilling your beer. Also has a Lithopane in the bottom of a gorgeous 1940s nude stripper lady with a large feather. This piece is in mint condition. No chips, cracks or damage of any kind. It holds over 4 cups of beverage up to the holes in side. Has tree branch and leaves design with raised ripple sides on it. Handle is shaped like a branch. The top outer edge is also shaped as branch and there are 5 different holes placed all around the top. One of the holes you can drink out of without getting wet, if you know how! This highly desirable art piece signed by Rita Owen Hick. Is painted reminiscent of the true Flemish Masters. This captures a whimsical scene of two Friars or Monks, one who has imbibed too much and fallen asleep on the cellar floor amid the wine barrels, and the other Monk walking into the cellar, scoffing at what he has walked into. Antique Brass Arts & Crafts era Tankard with faux Horn Handle
Offered- A nice American Arts and Crafts era Brass Tankard with a faux Antler Handle. The Tankard stands 5 inches high. The diameter at the bottom measures 3 3/4 inches tapering to 3 inches at the top. The handle resembles Antler. It is made from some type of composite- I am not sure what- but I have seen this on numerous Arts and Crafts pieces. The handle is fixed at the top and bottom on shield-type emblems- There is also a shield on the front of the Tankard. The brass is in good condition- there are a couple of minor dents- commensurate with the tankards age. I would date this piece at 1910/1920. Antique hallmarked Silver Half Pint Tankard/Mug This beautiful tankard is made from sterling silver with a scrolled handle and decorated with engraved garlands and bells to the upper section and two blank shield cartouches to the lower. Unfortunately. The hallmarked are somewhat rubbed but it is possible to make out the letter‘S’ for 1917 and the Lion Passant indicating that it is sterling grade silver. The assay mark is too rubbed to decipher but I believe it to be for Birmingham. Only part of the maker’s mark is visible and these are the letters‘Ld’ and the bottom of a shield. Having researched it extensively, I believe it to be the mark of Williams Ltd. This piece is in excellent condition with no dents or splits and it is fully usable. The only things to mention are a very light dint to one of the cartouches and that there will tiny surface ... moreabrasions caused through use and cleaning. My home town! and were in business till the early 1900's. A fine and rare antique George II Newcastle sterling silver tankard by Thomas Makepeace I; part of our silverware collection. Description. This rare George II sterling silver Newcastle tankard made by Thomas Makepeace has a plain tapering cylindrical form onto a spreading base. The body is encircled with a plain girdle. To the front of the tankard are contemporary bright cut engraved initials'GAY' framed between a barley stalk and a wheat ear. The tankard is fitted with a domed hallmarked hinged cover with an impressive shaped pierced decorated thumbpiece. The hinge has a pendant drop decoration to the upper face of the opposing scroll handle which displays the contemporary engraved initials GA surmounted by Y. The handle has a shield ... moreshaped terminal. Condition This impressive tankard is a very good gauge of silver. Fine quality an in excellent condition, showing only a few minor blemishes in keeping with the age of the piece. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body. And, as expected the maker's mark and lion passant to the rim of the cover, and maker's mark to the handle are clear, apart from the lion passant mark which is rubbed. The tankard displays a fine set of full hallmarks considering their position on the surface of the body. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of this item.
