The top and bottom of the eyepieces and the turn lever are made from antique bone ( bovine pre 1890). These lovely od binoculars were very prized for their beauty and their magnification ability. Very few have survived and they are a very rare item. Pair of Antique French Sevres Porcelain Turquoise / Teal Urns
This is a nice pair of antique French Sevres porcelain turquoise/ teal urns. They are in pretty good shape for their age with some imperfections more than I could picture but they are all similar to the ones pictured. They are slightly different as the pics show with some discoloration. One has had the finial repaired and imperfections like that shown in pics 11& 12 with some missing enamel and those scratched, they are not cracks. Also they will need a little tightening which I will let the new owner do. I believe they are 19th century adaptations even though it has the 18th century marking underneath as pic 10 shows but I will let you be the judge. In a New York collection for over 35 years. The cylindrical stand which supports the teapot was meant to contain a small candle to keep the pot warm. The name veilleuse comes from the French for“nightlight” because the main lithophane cylinder glows when the candle is lit. In the early years. For Sale an Antique French Porcelain Enameled Metal Box Capodimonte Design Marked"GD 1747-1" Box has 12 hand painted cherubs and other decorations like floral. Half of the box design repeats on the other side. The upper part has 6 cherubs( 2 with flute. 2 with cord instrument, 2 with torch) while on the bottom part 6 medallions have the same couple of cherubs in three medallions, and in the other three medallions a bird. It's mounted in what appeasers to be gilt bronze metal frame and has an intricate banding. I can't guarantee if it's bronze because I'm not an expert. Brass top handle looks a replacement. Yes brass for sure, because doesn't match color or pattern of other rim and foot metals(pics 7, 8, and 9) Hinged lid opens and closes with an almost tight fit. Underneath metal rim reads"GD 1747-1" ... moreas shown in last photo. Underneath on the porcelain handpainted it reads"Made in France" preceded by"GD" in a circle. Traces of glue are present on the bottom part and underneath as shown in pics. These are antique glue residues because are dark brown. I'm giving as much details as I can. MUTEL IN 1754 WITH HIS MARK IN THE CENTER THE URN IS ALL ORIGINAL AS YOU CAN SEE.I TOOK IT ALL APART TO CHECK FOR CRACKS OR REPAIRS OR ADDITIONS. PARTICULARLY ON THE RIM. This is a great little Antique Pre-1900 Miniature French perfume bottle. Great quality with much gold filigree embellishments and enamel work. Porcelain front surrounded by gold filigree and has what looks like coral jewels on top and front. So much detail on this little bottle. It's hard to describe. The bottle has a stopper which is tight and don't want to wrench it open and possibly break anything. Has a glass dabber attached to inside of cap which is in place. This clear glass bottle is very old and looks like the contents have evaporated from the bottle leaving a brown haze inside. Exterior grime from age and will leave it up to the buyer to give it a good clean or leave it alone to display it's age. Antique 18th century French Porcelain Tureen, circa 1770
A very rare. If not museal, piece of antique French porcelain. It is from the Niderviller porcelain atelier(1765-1827) and was made during the time that the Graf von Custine was the proprietor(1770-1793) The tureen measures 5.12 inches tall and 9.6 inches wide. It has little blue flowers painted on it with a gold border. There is a repair to the lid; otherwise, it is in very good condition. The signature is illegible. Hence, I have included a photo of another piece from the same service which has a clearer mark. From its size, it was most likely used for vegetables. This tureen and the Niderviller are quite interesting as the decoration looks like little corn flowers which was the favorite flower of Marie Antoinette. She was responsible for immense popularity of this flower and its use in decoration at the court of Louis XVI. Hence. Is logical ... morewhy the plate is painted so; it was all the rage. The Niderviller was founded by Jean-Louis Beyerlé, an advisor to the king. This was quite fashionable for upper nobility to found there own porcelain ateliers at this time. The factory changed hands from the the Baron von Beyerle to the Graf von Custine in 1770 where it remained under his guise until 1793 when it changed hands again. This followed suit until 1827. Hence. This tueen is pre-revolution French and produced in a small window of 27 years. This is one of two pieces of Niderviller- Graf von Custine porcelain that I am offering this week. Assembled over three decades and then lost in an attic for two more decades. A Baltimore lawyer, Mr. Van Slyke and his wife collected both oriental and European ceramics. Frederick died in 1968, and Antoinette in November of 1988. Sotheby's was called in to do an appraisal, and a New York Times, September 22, 1989 article describes what happened next- Sotheby's specialist in European porcelains. Letitia Roberts, recalled that she was stunned at what she saw last December on her first visit to the Van Slykes' home. This beautiful. Lightweight porcelain creamer is very well made. You can"feel" the quality when you hold it in your hands. It is fluted down the sides, with three 1" vertical sections that alternate. The handle as the angular bracket shape with a decorative knob at the top. It measures 5 1/4" 13.3 cm) in length or handle to spout, 2 1/2" 6.4 cm) in width and is 3 1/4" 8.3 cm) in height. The mark on the bottom is the full crossed arrows. What I mean by this is that a few factories(Jacob Pettit for one) had crossed arrows with the points, but without the feathers at the base. This has the three rows or lines on each side of the feathersA similar mark that I can find is in"The Book of Porcelain" by Gustau Weiss, copyright 1964. He listed this as the mark of"Trois Levrettes" the factory of Jerome-Vincent ... moreDubois that was established in 1774, there is no mention of if and when closed down. There were many factories that went in and out of business during this period. This creamer has the famous"Mushel" pattern that the Danish made famous, but was used by many factories. Although partially erased. The Sèvres"double L" logo is still clearly visible under one of the bottles. Both sides are finely painted. no transfers) On one side there is a cherub. And on the other roses. Close examination reveals that. Although close, the painted figures are different. Curiously at least 2 of these bottles still smell of the perfume they once contained! Great hand painted Old Paris porcelain lidded urn dating to the first half of the 19th century. Very large measuring about 16 1/2" tall and about 9 1/2" at its widest. No chips or visible damage although there is a crack in the finial's twisted fish(which probably were reglued upon close inspection) It was re bolted not too long ago which is a positive in my eyes also. There is some light to moderate wear on the some gilt. But overall this is in excellent displayable shape. Very heavy. Unsigned, which is customary. Fantastic to display. The other is a gentleman sitting in a chair painting porcelain vases. The backs of the urn vases also are handpainted. The quality is impeccable. The main part of the urn is porcelain as are the panels in the gilt brass bases. The tops are brass and are painted in the platinum with gilt brass finials. The handles and bases are all very intricate gilt brass with lion paw feet. The urns are setting on gilt gold wood bases. The top of the base is covered in purple velvet and roped edge. The porcelain parts are all in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or wear. The gilt gold ormolu is in perfect condition. Old Paris Porcelain. Lovely 19th century French porcelain spill vase with hand painted floral decoration. This vase is marked only with a raised number 46. The vase stands 7 ½” 19 cm) tall and has a top width of 5 1/8” 13 cm) This piece is in very good condition. With no chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilt decoration is worn on some areas, but most of the gold still remains. There are several tiny dark specks on the inner top back edge. These tiny dots did not come off when I cleaned the vase. They are not too noticeable because they are so small. The inside is quite clean, with only a small bit of debris from prior use caught in the nooks and crannies of the inner mold imperfections. This is a Gorgeous Victorian lady figurine. She is wearing a gorgeous wide floral dress with dresden lace ruffles. Approximately 7 1/4 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches wide. Stamped on bottom of base with a crossed arrows mark in blue and in gold it says"Made in France expressly for Marshall Field& C" In great condition with some minor lace loss. The bottom feels like a bisque material with firing cracks in it and it's not smooth but I believe it is original to the piece because you can see blue paint on it from the paint from very bottom layer of her dress. One can assume some sort of hot beverage or soup. It would be ideal for setting on the Buffet and staying warm with hot water in the metal portion below and you could either serve yourself with the addition of a spigot of sorts or have the Butler carry over your soup de jour. This piece is Estate Fresh and Displays very well though there are no Spigots/corks or Lids. All of the pieces are Solid and intact though there are a few age fractures to one piece that are not overly ... morenoticeable but should be noted. Each of the three Ironstone Porcelain pieces feature both decal applied and hand painted decorations and Display Very Well. The old Silver plate is worn from the base but Repousse Designs all over the front are still as Impressive as the day it was made. This is a Very rare& Seldom Seen Serving Piece that would be a welcome addition to any collection and a Pleasure to Display. One Piece has several old fractures that are holding firm and the decorations display flawlessly. There is Very little wear to the other two pieces beyond a light scuff or two on the graphics. The front of the vase depicts a classically attired young Maiden collecting water and on the back a classically styled floral decoration is featured. The vase is 13 1/2" tall. This is a stunner- a wonderful porcelain footed dresser box with cast brass feet and bird and floral motif. It is marked B& CIE(Limoges? and is in great shape. Minor yellowing on part of the lid. Porcelain is handpainted with design- no chips or flaws. It is lined with a buttoned silk padded top. The silk has some wear to it. Box measures approximately 5x5 x 4.5" tall. The brass feet have Bacchanalian figural designs with bearded laughing figures. Originally. It probably had a key(judging from lock on front) but was lost long ago.
