Antique English Semi Porcelain Staffordshire Pottery MILK Pitchers
In the early 19th Century. English Staffordshire potteries began experimenting with porcelain like ware that could be cheaply mass-produced. Charles Mason patented this new ware in 1813. Semi-porcelain is commonly referred to as"ironstone" and also goes by other names. Though the fired clay does appear somewhat vitreous, it is actually refined earthenware. By 1850 Staffordshire Potteries had reached their hey day. We are pleased to offer this outstanding Trio of Earthenware English Pottery Milk Pitchers, circa early 1900's for your consideration. The English Antique graphic design is of an English Country scene, with a man, a woman and a dog resting under a tree in a meadow. Tasha Tudor, and her New England Country Style were so typical of these English Potteries. The pair of smaller Milk Pitchers are marked"Finest Quality ... moreEarthenware, Staffordshire England" on the bottom and the larger pitcher is marked"KLM, Staffordshire England" The overall design is just gorgeous with the six sided body of the Milk Pitchers of different size. The Milk Pitchers have a scalloped bottom design and are trimmed nicely in gold. The Trio of Semi Porcelain Milk Pitchers are in Excellent Condition, without cracks or damage and have a time worn patina that is age appropriate. The smallest pitcher has some small burgandy spots that are glazed over so it came that way from the factory. I am starting the auction out at a very reasonable $50 for all 3 pitchers. Normally one one sell for more than that.

ENGLISH OR FRENCH WORCESTER STYLE PORCELAIN BLUE SCALE ANTIQUE TEA CADDY
ENGLISH OR FRENCH WORCESTER STYLE PORCELAIN BLUE SCALE ANTIQUE TEA CADDY ENGLISH OR FRENCH WORCESTER STYLE PORCELAIN BLUE SCALE ANTIQUE TEA CADDY A porcelain blue scale ground Worcester style teacaddy. Enamelled with panels of exotic birds, insects and foliage within gilt scroll framing. We are not sure about the origin of this teacaddy. There is no mark but the caddy shows the work of a good manufactory. There is a good chance that Samson from Paris was the maker but that's more a feeling than that we can proof that. All models that we found on the internet were different and so was the enamel painting. We consider our pictures as an enormous help in describing our listings. So please. High quality porcelain. Completely painted by hand in colours under and over the glaze. The tea caddy was put in the kiln on very small stilts. Parian- Copeland's Statuary Porcelain' tells this fascinating story in detail. The debate in the columns of the Staffordshire Advertiser as to which firm was the first to introduce Parian is also ... moreexamined here in detail. The book goes on to describe the manufacturing processes of mold-making and the casting of the figures.
