Antique Sowerby Glass Sugar and Creamer - Ivory Vitro-Porcelain, English
This ivory sugar bowl and cream pitcher were made by the Sowerby Glassworks in England in the late 1800s. They each have a panel of alternating peacocks and daisies around the upper rim. The top edges are scalloped. With the scallops being deeper on the bowl than the pitcher. There are vertical ridges around the lower sections, and each has four feet. My camera wasn't able to take a clear picture, but both pieces have the Sowerby peacock head and date lozenge inscribed inside, with a date of 1878. The sugar bowl is 4" wide and 2" high, the pitcher is 2 3/4" wide and 2" high. I am not able to find any scratches or flaws except for a few tiny"fleabite" marks on each. I have described this listing to the best of my ability. I am not an expert in the field of antique glassware. If you have questions. Please contact ... moreme before bidding.

Antique English Bow Porcelain Figures 1748-1774 Types Marks Designers / Book
Click Here. Double your traffic. Get Vendio Gallery- Now FREE! BOW PORCELAIN FIGURES: circa 1748-1774 by Peter Bradshaw. Barrie& Jenkins, Ltd. London, 1992. This scholarly text offers in-depth coverage of Bow porcelain figurines during the 26 years of their manufacture. The author“incorporates descriptions of some 550 figures. Of which 360 are illustrated. Beginning with historical and technical introductions, he describes three main phases of production, and traces the models from the relatively simple forms, often supported by low flat bases, of the early phase, through the more highly colored and sophisticated designs of the middle phase, to the final phase, when the figures displayed a sad deterioration of form and color, prior to the company’s demise in 1774. With each phase, he details the main characteristics and subjects of the ... moremodels, quoting examples, then itemizes all the figures known to him from the era, with details of their whereabouts whenever possible. The book includes informative appendices on the sources of subjects depicted in the models, the Commedia dell’Arte, classical mythology and contemporary dress, gives useful notes on reproductions, fakes, damage and restoration and provides full bibliographical references. With 14 color plates, 251 black and white photographs and line drawings of factory and workmen's marks, this is an important written and pictorial record of the subject. This fine volume, the first to deal exclusively with Bow porcelain figures, is written especially for collectors and curators of these lively, colorful figurines and will be an indispensable reference work for them. 6.25” x 9.5” hardback with dust cover in near-new condition. 256 pages. It is beautifully hand painted with a tiny floral pattern and the feather crest of the Prince of Wales. The condition is excellent- no chips. Cracks or repairs. The gold is intact. I guarantee everything written about the piece. I will combine shipping when possible. Please let me send an invoice so I may bill the correct shipping costs. The Ebay invoice may be incorrect. The shipping cost reflects the additional 9% Ebay final value fee recently imposed. I take great care in packing my items and insure all my shipments. I keep my handling costs as reasonable as possible and include cost of materials and insurance in those costs. Please Note: I will leave feedback promptly when payment is received. I lost my top rating when I ... moresold fewer items not because of any selling problems. I want my Ebay clients to realize the importance of feedback to sellers. A 4 sounds good to the buyer. But it is not good enough for a seller to maintain power selling status, for which they need 4.6 DSR. Sellers must have 4.3 to maintain selling privileges. So, even though the seller may not be perfect, leaving less than a 5 DSR will have a negative impact. If you are unhappy, please email your problem to me and see if we can work it out.
