Medieval/gothic oak carved tracery panels: part of 15th/16th century screen
These seven portions of an incomplete medieval carved oak tracery screen date from the late 15th/ 16th century and exhibit the skill of the carver to great effect. The screen is'blind' in that only one side is carved. The other side being flat and probably originally laid over panelling. The paired arches are moulded and bear cusps at their heads with finely carved and delicate protruding florets. Each pair of joined arches is surmounted by a roughly diamond-shaped floral carving. The base of each arch bears a central upright miniature'poppy-head' as seen on church bench-ends, especially in East Anglia. The widened base of each'poppy-head' encloses a carved flower surrounded by foliage. The oak has a rich patina acquired over many years: the backs of the pieces have that grey tone of age. Please see the pictures to ... moreget a better idea of the quality of these pieces. The sections are shown as they appear on my wall. With gaps allowing for any obvious missing sections. As the sections rest on a wooden ledge, the oak has not been damaged in any way; small brackets have been used to hold pieces against the wall. On the reverse, occasional use has been made of Blu-tak to help temporary attachment to the wall. I will number the pieces to allow easy assemblage. The whole'run' of pieces measures 1metre 20cm. With a maximum height of 59cm. The'poppy-heads' are 21cm high. The round pegs used by the carver to join sections are visible in places and the individual sections are, of course, quite fragile. Nevertheless, this tracery has been on the wall for 15 years without mishap and should last for many more years. A difficult thing to pack. I have estimated postage costs. this is an extremely rare 18th century large hand carved wooden stylized horse corbels. it is pretty large and cut from a piece of solid very heavy piece of oak.i believe" which has wonderful grain, and a great patina from age. it is beautifully cut into the shape of a stylized horse with lots of deeply cut detailing. And a nice flowing shape. its extremely ornate with exquisite age. it is cut flat at the back to fit a wall. Lovely antique solid oak leg which measures 24 inches long. Widest measurement on its top is 7 inches. And smallest on the top is 3 inches. This leg balances upright by itself and can stand alone. Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Cabinet Door Ornate Thistle Arch Pattern Victorian Description: Up for sale is this estate rescued old door. It looks to be a door off of a cabinet of some kind. It measures 24 3/4" x 17 1/2" x 2" including the knob) As you can see from the photos this cabinet is carved by hand. The carving is rough and irregular but still beautiful in its intricacy! The pattern looks like it depicts a thistle plant inside of an arched design. You can also see that there are a couple of pieces missing from the design including one of the oval shaped designs in the top left and possibly two rectangle shaped pieces at the top of the columns below the arch. The knob also looks to have been hand carved. This door still has the original hinges which are rusted in place. The back of the door looks as though it had 2 cross ... morepieces which have been removed. The door does have some cracks developing in the bottom as you can see in the photos. Here's a pair of highly carved antique oak panels with a beautiful original finish. Of considerable size. They each measure 12" wide by 24" tall with a maximum thickness of about an inch. The condition is outstanding with the exception of a nail hole and a small edge chip on one. Probably from the sides of an impressive sideboard or cabinet. I would estimate the date of manufacture to be from about 1880 to 1900. With classic florals, urns, vines and griffins. The camera flash makes the finish appear much more shiny than in real life. CAST IRON MACHINE LEGS Stand Base Industrial Vintage Sewing Oak leg 'covers'
joe calcite INDUSTRIAL OAK& CAST IRON MACHINE LEGS STAND BASE This offering is for a set of cast iron sewing machine legs/ stand. BUT WITH A DIFFERENCE. I've seen the queen anne style legs, with the curve and'shoulder' part of the cast iron. In this case, the cast iron legs come with oak legs with a groove in the back to fit snugly over the iron and screw on from the rear. This gives you the option of using just the iron legs, or dressing them up with oak as your mood and decor dictate. To complete the transformation, I have included the trim pieces from the original upper cabinet so that the oak runs top to bottom. Unfortunately, the lower 5" of one is broken off, but placed on the side facing a wall or sofa, it would go unnoticed by most. Given the unique character, many wouldn't care. There are no cracks or breaks ... morein the iron. The paint was originally brown. But is now heavily worn with some light rust in places. The finish on the oak was dried out and flaking badly, so the rest of the finish was removed with a stiff brush and the exposed faces were clear coated. The wood itself is also worn. The legs measure 16" wide at the top, 13.5" wide at the bottom. Total height is 28" The stretcher is 23" wide, but can be replaced with a heavy threaded rod to place them closer together or further apart. Casters work but have a few flattened spots where its been dragged perpendicular to the wheels. Nice figured fluting and tuinings, Someone added a base at some point. Screw at the top(which is actually the bottom of the leg) probably went to hold a wooden top or bird house or similar, Measures 23-1/2" without the square base, See for yourself! Antique Solid oak Split pedestal, 4 toe lion feet.
This pedestal came out from under a nice solid quarter sawn top it has a lock for the top all the parts are there the lever works good to open the pedestal. It also has all the screws can be taken apart to ship.I am guessing it will ship for about $40-$50 anywhere in the us I will take it apart and ship for a $5.00 handeling to the lucky bidder. VINTAGE 3 LEG BARLEY TWIST OAK PEDESTAL BASE
This is a really nice three leg oak base with a barley twist pedestal or column. It measures 16 1/2" high and from center to center of the legs is 11 1/2" and the top is 7" square. It is in good condition with no breaks or repairs. One of the little plastic buttons on the bottom of one leg is missing. We will gladly combine lots whenever possible to save on shipping costs.
