This trunk measures approximately 22" ... morelong X 14" wide X 15 1/2" high and it has two hinges in back that hold the lid securely to the base. There used to be sturdy leather handles on each side of the trunk but they are no longer intact, these can be purchased inexpensively on-line and they're fairly easy to replace. The corner protectors and hardware appear to be brass plated steel. There are two hasp type closures, one on each side of the lock and the lock needs to be bent just a little to close it securely. We tried the key and the locking mechanism seems to work properly but we didn't want to damage anything so it will arrive open with the key tucked in an envelope safely inside. The inside of the trunk is wood and there should be wood beneath the black material covering the outside(it is non-magnetic and we don't think it's metal) This little trunk is in very good condition and once it's restored it should be a beauty- perfect for your antique doll collection or as a gift for a very special grandchild. 1880's Antique Child's/Doll Salesman Sample Dresser W/Framed Mirror.Excellent!
This is a miniature or salesman sample of a dresser that is probably from the 1880's. It is well made from oak. It measures 16" tall. 10" wide and 6" deep. It has 3 drawers that have dovetail construction.There is a swivel mirror 5.5"x 6" in a fluted frame. The top of the frame has wooden dowels in the corners. It is in perfect condition with no marks. Chips or problems that I can see. One drawer inside has a crack but no separation. On the bottom drawer is a sticker with copperplate writing that says'Doll's bureau. Belonged& used by the four Lundberg girls. Now on 9/13/75 probably about 88 years old. Given to Peggy for her birthday 9/30/75" Perfect for dolls or bears. Doll not included. Antique Child's Dresser Hand Made Early Painted Piece Mirror 4 Drawers Chippy
Primitive Antique Child's Dresser Great little Mirrored Dresser. Originally purchased at the Brimfield Antique Show in MA. This is a great little chippy piece. Do not know the history, my guess it was a hand made piece by someone with very good wood working skill. There is a nice carved pediment across the top over an early mirror. Turned columns on the sides of the mirror and nice decorative trim around the mirror. There are two shallow wide drawers and two square deeper drawers on the bottom. As you can see in the pictures one of the drawer bottoms was made from a wood crate and one of the sides also shows the imprint of a wood crate under the paint(see last picture) There are old metal wheels on the bottom. In good solid antique condition. The paint is worn and chipped, there is wear to the mirror with some silver loss, on the side ... morewhere the imprint of the crate can be seen there is a break to the trim wood on the back corner. On the old wood backing it looks like there is an old water mark. It has seen years of use. Still a great primitive chippy piece that could be left as is, or repainted for a bright clean finish. The top piece with the columns and the mirror is held on with screws and can be removed to cut down on shipping cost. Dresser measures 31" tall. 19" wide and about 12" deep.
