The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being popular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. The candle shelves have heavy incise carved burl front shelf supports, burl walnut trim going up the mirror and the big crest on top with a doorbell looking medallion on the top. Or mirror stand& vanity dating from the early Showa period between1930 and the early 50's boasts an adjustable 3 way mirror that creates multiple reflections, made in a beautiful extra thick quality glass with beveled borders that still has a very clear reflection for its age. The center below the mirror is adorned with a textured glass surface reflecting a pale blue colour. Its Art deco lines, adorned with a lovely stripy grain veneer in a golden shade are accented by silver tone openwork handles. Small drawers offer space for accessories or make-up and it can easily fit on a night stand, chest or work top making it an very useable and versatile piece. It is in excellent overall condition for its age with no major damage. This is a very old vanity or dresser set in great condition. The items appear to be bakelite but I am going by what I was told when I purchased the lot at an estate sale. The pictures show the pieces to have a design or it might be stains that bleed throughout the backs with metal tear drops in the center. There are no cracks or chips in the glass. I only used water to clean these because I did not want to jeapordize damaging the set with any chemicals. The measurements are as follows. Mirror: 10 inches long X 3 1/2 inches wide. Brush: 8 inches long X 2 1/4 inches wide. File: 6 3/4 inches long X 1 inch wide. Container or Storage Box: 7 inches long X 2 inches wide x 1 inch deep. Features a rotating mirror and(3) operable drawers(2 small at top, 1 large at bottom) Arts and Crafts style. Unsigned/no maker's mark(s) Exact age is unknown but I would venture to guess it is from the late 19th/early-to-mid 20th century. Found at an indoor flea market in Andover, N.J. in a booth that was filled with only amazing, old treasures) Made of a lightweight/low density variety of wood(perhaps oak, pine or alike) held together with both nails& screws(see pics) Stained dark brown with lovely patina. Excellent vintage condition with NO major defects whatsoever. Some small/light scratches(mostly to dresser top surface) and other very minor"blemishes" ... morethroughout. Structurally solid& sturdy. Sits flat with NO wobble. I cleaned the dust and smudges off the mirror BUT did nothing else. So aside from the mirror. It is being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. This dresser has heavy proportions despite its small size. The maker added decorative details such as the column pieces beside the drawers. And the curved backstop on top. The sides have a window frame look with the inset side panels. It was constructed of compressed layered wood, stained and given a shiny finish. The three rustic drawers are all smaller than you would expect from the size of the dresser, and when you look at the drawer you can see that the back wall is about 2 inches in from the end of the sides. Antique shaving/grooming mirror that is made to sit on top of a dresser. This is. I believe walnut. It measures 22 1/2" tall x 21" wide x 7 1/2" deep. This belonged to my grandfather and I believe it is from the 20's or 30's. The mirror has a small amount of aging or distress near the edges on the right side and bottom. Beautiful Turn of the Century American Oak Dresser Up for your consideration: A wonderful example of fine artistry by American Furniture Makers. This beautiful dresser was purchased at an old estate auction and although a lot of items came from Germany. This belonged to a couple of sisters who moved here from Germany. I am pretty sure they probably purchased it here in America rather than bringing it with them. It does resemble typical American Oak Dressers of the time period- I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of the 1900-1920's. They were quite up in years and the dresser was quite old when they purchased it and I found an Old Catholic Confirmation Certificate(in English) dated 1910 rolled up with what appeared to be an old Marriage License(in German) The lovely Beveled Mirror is in Excellent condition for its age and is framed ... morein a the beautiful Victorian tradition. Beveled Mirror attached well and swivels up or down. The Drawers feature the Grand Serpentine style. The drawers all lock and of course the original skeleton key is included. I am not sure however if the dresser’s knobs are original or not. The Dresser features the rare and beautiful Tiger Oak Construction. Quarter Sawn) The drawers are all in pretty fine condition. One drawer seems to want to go in further than it should but could be easily remedied. There is also a chip in the front edge of one of the left drawers. Vintage Kitchen Dresser Painted in Annie Sloan Beautiful vintage welsh dresser made from oak and lovingly hand painted in Annie Sloan- Chateau Grey. A fabulous solid piece with some wonderful detailing. It has been distressed in areas of natural wear as we think t his adds an extra dimension to the piece and highlights the pieces unique features. It has then been finished with natural wax to increase durability. The top surface has been given several coats of dark wax to bring out the true colour and grain of the wood. This also creates an amazing contrast against the painted woodwork. A wonderful piece with all the attributed you'd expect. The bottom section is most unusual because is it in its own right a chest of four drawers. There are two full size and two half size drawers each of which. Has been finished with a decorative generous ... morebeveled edge. The dresser top ha s two generous shelves each with a rebated trough making them ideal for displaying plates. The very top of the dresser has canopy with a decorative waved edge. This detail is then continued on the side pillars. The piece sits on a chunky bottom plinth with a decorative waved bottom edge on the front creating the feet. This bottom plinth is finished with a beveled top edge and there is a rebated striped design on the side pillars on the bottom of the piece. The look is completed with the original highly decorative Art Nuveau swing handles and back plates. Would sit equally comfortably in a lounge. Dinning room or kitchen- so versatile!
