Genuine Period Antique Carved Wood Table Stand w/ Drawer Drop Pull
A genuine early period antique wood table stand. I am in a slight dilemma as to which period it is from. Could be Colonial but cannot say 100% although could be Colonial Revival/ Victorian as well. It does have the appearance and the hardware fits but I am not an expert at furniture so will leave it up to your discretion after reading description and viewing pictures. The table is 20" tall x 21 3/4" across x 12.5 deep, weighs approx 17-18 lbs. It has one drawer that pulls out from the bottom that has a flower carving on each side of it's drop pull. Drop pull and plate appear to be iron with pull itself having a pointed end with rough side surface and smooth faceted, roughly made, pointed tip(somewhat like an old handmade nail look) The drop pull is secured with a staple fastener. The drawer has the triangular cut dove tailing ... morebut odd in that the back side of the drawer's dovetailing is round, see pics. The back of the drawer are carve marked with"+L" The two sides are carved with medallions in a flower design. The legs are turned and the feet are an onion style bun feet, slightly flattened. The wood has the grain of Atlantic White Cedar but will admit I am not great at identification of various woods but when comparing some pictures it looked closest. It is in VG condition, one foot does have a crack in it, there is a small crack on the edge of one of the carved panels on the drawer, and the panel above the drawer where two side by side pieces of wood meet has a very slight space in between them. There is a small light scratch/ scuff here and there. Very nicely kept and cared for during it's 100+ years(as I don't believe it to date early then late 1800's, this I am rather sure of) I acquired this at an estate her in Charlotte where I also purchased an 1880's Minton piece which I recently sold. This ca. 1860-1875 solid walnut hand carved pediment in the rococo revival manner measures43 1/2" wide x 23" tall x 2" deep with the pierced and fruit carved removable section measuring app. 25" x 8 1/2" tall. The piece is in fairly well preserved condition with dry old refinished surface and some sratches. Gouges and scrapes from a recent move. There is a glued breaks in the openwork on one end, but no apparent loss. It most likely graced a stately bedstead or armoire and has a great rich look. Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Cabinet Door Ornate Thistle Arch Pattern Victorian Description: Up for sale is this estate rescued old door. It looks to be a door off of a cabinet of some kind. It measures 24 3/4" x 17 1/2" x 2" including the knob) As you can see from the photos this cabinet is carved by hand. The carving is rough and irregular but still beautiful in its intricacy! The pattern looks like it depicts a thistle plant inside of an arched design. You can also see that there are a couple of pieces missing from the design including one of the oval shaped designs in the top left and possibly two rectangle shaped pieces at the top of the columns below the arch. The knob also looks to have been hand carved. This door still has the original hinges which are rusted in place. The back of the door looks as though it had 2 cross ... morepieces which have been removed. The door does have some cracks developing in the bottom as you can see in the photos. Two antique oak or ash decorative carved wood panels from late 1800's/early 1900
Up for your consideration are these two oak or ash decorative wood panels. I am hoping the pictures will give you a better description as to condition and actual type of wood. I honestly feel the wood is oak but please. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to inquire as I will do my best to accommodate. The panels are in nice condition considering their age. There is some age cracking and other slight cracking, especially around the dowel areas. However, the panels are very solid and any cracking has not affected the panels durabilty. The panels weigh about 3 pounds each and measure 14.5" long, 11.5" wide, and.75" thick. They have a nice carved or pressed decorative design on both sides. The panels were retrieved from an antique table as shown in the example picture. Beautiful antique wooden carved tri-foot lion claw feet for furniture repair. These are lovely and were made early. Not sure of the age, I unfortunately broke the table that they were attached to. The actual claw feet are 10 1/2" from the toes/claws to the middle base by 8 1/4" high from floor to the base. The center base piece is about 9 1/4" high by 4 3/8" wide. Antique ORNATE Carved BURLED Wood VICTORIAN PEDIMENT Secretary Door Hall Tree
Up for auction is this fabulous antique Victorian carved wood arched pediment being offered"as is as found" It is in wonderful condition, though some of the burled veneer is lifting and there is one spot on the top edge of the moulding where it meets the center piece that is chipped(as seen in photo 7) It is very ornately carved with exquisite details. The 2 drop turned finials on either side of the center medallion are intact. Not sure of the wood, it is thick and solid somewhat speckled with darker spots. Exhibits superb craftsmanship. Beautifully curved multi-layer moulding. The underneath has one dowel on the bottom and 2 holes on the other side where it sat on the original piece of furniture which is long gone. This would be wonderful on a secretary, hall tree or even above a doorway. There are different layers giving it greath ... moredepth and interest. Up for auction is a gorgeous set of 4 antique ornately carved wooden Victorian piano legs. These amazing looking. LARGE and eye catching wooden legs have carved fruit and ornate leaf patterns carved into each leg. Each has a nice slight curving to it and a fluted/claw foot bottom. These are a matching set of piano legs#1-4 with the serial# 16357 on each leg(see photos) There are the original cast iron wheels on each leg. Each has the original wooden screw attachment(some areas have been striped of groves) The overall condition is nice for these legs, some do have more damage than others. This is a gorgeous pair of table legs. Set of two front legs for an Occasional table. They are solid wood. I’m not positive what the wood is, but it looks like maybe pine, possibly hickory? Not really sure but they are gorgeous! The legs are pretty heavy and sturdy. You can see sand marks from the machine or electric tool that was used and I’m not certain this was sculputed out of one solid slab as I can see lines where they met the pieces after carving them. These are definitely in need of refinishings, one area has a ding but all these look like they should be easy to fix for a wood specialist. I have tried to picture the most obvious and biggest marks. The pre-drilled holes are roughly 5/8”dia x.75”thick Overall dimension of the legs are 23-11/16”T to the top of the mounting bracket and 19.5”t to the top of the sculpted leg at the top ... morethe legs are roughly 6.5”thick x 10.25”w At the“ankle they are roughly 1-7/8”dia and the feet are roughly 4.5”w x 4.25”deep Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. But the base was in great shape and I thought that the carved wood portions held plenty of potential for a decorator or someone who enjoys creating new items These are very heavy and bulky carved mahogany bases They were painted a wretched brownish gold color. We are offering 2 especially desirable middle 1700s hand carved and gilt wood architectural pediments this week. Please see our other sales for an impressive companion carving. This 20” tall x 52” wide x 2 ½” deep overall; 19” x 47 ½” wood alone) deeply carved openwork topper is all hand carved wood with deep red bole ground and worn genuine gold leaf. The wood appears to be a continental walnut(or similar) and retains the original blacksmith wrought iron backing framework that has enabled it to retain most of its integrity for almost 300 years. The swags of ripe fruits and blossoms sweep from an exaggerated plumed-crested central urn with leering gargoyle bosse. There are large descending/pendant losses under each side of the plumes(as pictured) Scattered breaks and some small end losses. The wood is over 85% intact. 1880s Antique Architectural Salvage Decorative Carved Turned Wood Spindles Description: Up for sale are this pair of decorative carved wood spindles from an Antique Beckwith Reed Pump Organ manufactured in the late 1800s through possibly the early 1900s. Unfortunately the donor instrument for this piece was too far gone to be save in its entirety so we have claimed what we can and are offering those pieces up for sale. These pieces are in very good condition and don't have any cracks or breaks. As you can see in the photos one of the dowels used to hold the dowel in place has broken off flush with the end of the spindle. We believe that these are made from Mahogany. These two panels were removed from either side of the music stand. They have red fabric on the back. Each panel measures 12 1/4" x 6 1/2" x about 5/16" thick at the not-rabbeted end. Three of the sides have rabbets that measure about 1/4" The manufacture date on the organ had faded but the latest patent dates listed on the label were from the 1880s.
