The hinges are intact and in fine working condition. The inside of the lid has a red velvet lining. Where the lid and box go together. It is lined with faux ivory. The caddy has two compartments with matching lids. The bottom of the box is covered with a dark covered floral embossed paper. The top. Back, front, and base of the box are sectioned off by silver flat wire. You can tell a lot of effort and highly skilled workmanship went into making this Tea Caddy of great quality for its time. This two compartment Tea Caddy sits on four round ball feet and measures a little over five inches high. About eight inches long, and about five inches wide. It weighs about 503 grams. Due to its great vintage age it does have condition issues. And could probably use a very good restoration from an expert. There are cracks on the top. Front, back, and sides. There are chips of material gone on the front. Base, sides, and back. Some of the flat silver sectioning wire looks bent and some looks to be missing. One of the hand engraved mother of pearl flower petals. Under the front lock plate, is missing. Both of the compartment lids have chips with material missing. And the compartment linings and lock mechanism are gone. The item might be used as your jewelry box if you did not want to restore it as a Tea Caddy. It has heavy patina on the ... moreback of both brass trays. There is patina around all of the sides of the brass and in spots on the carved scenes. The wooden stand is in very good condition. It has some patina on the metal hinges. One of the legs has a missing supporting piece(about a 1 inch long little piece of wood) This piece can use some heavy cleaning. This table would have supported a lamp. This lamp is not included. Pleasingly solid brass trays are supported by a folding base to produce a two tier table. The piece is suitable both for permanent location or as on occasional table. When in folded position the table assumes very little space and can be slid under a sofa or such; in addition the gorgeous solid trays may be used on their own for serving and display purposes. The base is a six leg folding design with dragons head carvings to the upper. The trays display wonderful scense with floral and foliate detailing to the perimeter and a central engraving featuring oriental characters in traditional dress. Overall this peice of furniture is in good condition and will make a great addition to any setting. 20" tall approximately 17" width 10" wide lower tray 14" wide upper tray We are a non-profit store and this was a donation. We are fairly certain this is not a reproduction piece and is truly from the 1930's. We do not know much about this piece except for a previous Ebay listing of a very similar item that sold in the UK in Sept. 2012. Antique French Vanity Stunning Inlaid Wood With Mirrors & Original Finials
Up for sale is this stunning french antique desk/vanity dresser. The inlaid wood is absolutely a wonderful work of art. And all of the inlaid work is in very good condition. It dates to the early 1900's and has a large center mirror that measures 33" x 23" with 2 side mirrors and 2 small drawers under them and a shelf above them with a carved accent piece. There are 3 drawers in the front, 1 large and 2 small again with beautiful inlaid detail. The middle mirror is removable if so desired. The original brass drawer pulls have an intricate design design and all the finials are in tact. The overall condition is very good with some light surface wear and a small piece missing on the bottom shelf. It is on rollers. This piece comes from a wealthy Conn estate.
