Lot of 4 Antique STEM CASTERS With WOODEN WHEELS With Swivel Inserts These casters have the insert that goes into the hole of the furniture leg. Then the caster is inserted into the insert where it snaps in and stays without falling out of the furniture leg when the furniture piece is lifted off the floor. The hardwood wheels are about 1 1/8" in diameter and about 5/8" in thickness. The stems are 1 1/2" long. 1/4" in diameter with a knob at the top that is 5/16" in diameter. These casters are very similar in size and look, but they are not exactly alike. Condition: These casters are used. None of the wheels are cracked or broken or have flat spots. Antique Cast Iron Shank Caster With 1 3/4" HARD MAPLE WOOD WHEEL The overall length of this caster is about 4 1/2" The wheel is 1 3/4" in diameter. The width of the wheel is about 5/8" The shank is 3" long. And is about 1/2" in diameter at the base and 3/8" in diameter ball at the top. This wheel is not worn very much on the shaft. But it does have a very small crack-only about 1/16" deep-on its running surface. The rest of the caster is in excellent condition. The cast iron even has a few specks of the original paint. Set of 4 Vintage White Porcelain Furniture Wheel Casters #1
I've sold many of these porcelain wheels and there are a couple of things I've seen that is common with most all of them as old as these casters are. These were hand forged and will not be a perfect matching set. Some shafts are slightly longer or larger than others and there will almost always be chips and broken pieces on the wheels. After all, they are porcelain and fragile. All the sets I have listed have these common flaws, so look at the pics closely, they are not perfect by any means but they all do still roll.
