Vintage Set of 4 Steel Wheel Casters Swivel around the Stem
Set of 4 vintage steel wheel casters with steel yokes have swivel posts in good working condition. These casters measure 2.75 inches long including the post. The caster posts are meant to fit inside a socket with 1/4 inch inside diameter 1 3/8 inches long. They would be used to support a mid weight piece of furniture and raise its height by 1.25 inches. A caster set like this could have been used on a table where the post was inserted into a socket in the leg. The socket could have been metal or just a hole drilled in the wood as sometimes seen on contemporary furniture. Please view the pictures carefully. 3 Matching Vintage 1-inch Diameter Wooden Casters Castors with Steel Forks
This is a set of 3 matching wooden casters mounted on steel forks. The wheels measure 1 inch in diameter and the stems measure 1 3/4 inches in length. I can't measure too exactly. But the axle seems to measure 3/4 inches in length. They are in good condition, but do show their age: there is some wear on the wood and some rust on the metal. Mechanically, they look great. 6 Antique Wood & Plastic Wheel Casters with Steel Stems for Furniture
Here are five casters that are alike in shape and size and one unlike the rest. The five all have wheels that are 1 1/4" diameter and stems that are 1 1/2" long. Three wheels are wood and and two are a vintage plastic like material. The last wheel is wood. 1" diameter, it has a hole instead of a stem. Light rust on steel and wood wheels look a little age but all still solid and functional. One of the plastic wheels has some nicks along the edge but still rolls solidly. Questions? Just ask! The title I just wrote pained me. I do not know enough about old wheels to write a proper title. These wheels are so simple yet complicated I am sure there is an actual word for them. I did see some other ads on Ebay use the words"steampunk" and"furniture" in their titles. I do not care about punking any steam, and I do not think this style caster was used on furniture. so I will omit those choices from my title. just because it makes no sense. Almost all the ads for similar wheels by different sellers are using an identical title. This tells me that sometime in the past, a successful seller used those words and their wheels sold at a reasonable price. It appears many of the current sellers looked at that ad, and copied it. They did not think for themselves. They are cows. Do not buy from cows, unless it is milk related. ... moreI like the the word"industrial" though. Many sellers used the words"cast iron" To me, that is something like a skillet, or a bracket. Cast iron has a tendency to be brittle, so although I am not sure, I beleive these casters should be solid iron, with some components cast. 4 Vintage heavy duty steel machine cart or similiar item 1 3/4" dia casters
Up for bid are 4 vintage steel heavy duty casters. I would guess these were used on an industrial cart or piece of machinery. The wheels turn freely. There is very little play in the assemblies. There is a fiber board gasket on 2 of them as can be seen in the pictures. I have no idea of the age. The wheels are about 1 3/4 inches in diameter and about 1 inch wide. This item/items as most of the things I sell. Came from an auction, flea market, estate sale or rummage sale.
