Museum quality authentic artifact(circa late 1800s) representing a King's ring with two horsemen. The item is about 2 1/2" high. Size 11 1/2-11 3/8 in excellent antique condition. Dogon art is extremely versatile. Although common stylistic characteristics– such as a tendency towards stylization– are apparent on the statues. Their art deals with the myths whose complex ensemble regulates the life of the individual. The sculptures are preserved in innumerable sites of worship, personal or family altars, altars for rain, altars to protect hunters, in market. As a general characterization of Dogon statues, one could say that they render the human body in a simplified ... moreway, reducing it to its essentials. Some are extremely elongated with emphasis on geometric forms. Antique Bronze Set of 4 Art Nouveau Furniture Feet/Legs
Interesting set of four bronze pieces that would act as the feet for a table(or other piece of furniture) leg. Not sure of a date of origin. But these appear to have some age on them. They're in good shape with minimal signs of wear and a nice patina. The feet measure approximately 4.5" tall, 1.75" deep, and 1.25" wide. The opening where a leg would be inserted is slightly less than an inch in diameter and there is a hole on the back for a screw to hold it in place. This is a pair of early bronze paw feet that would have been attached to a piece of furniture. These are approximately 4 inches tall from the bottom of the feet to the top. They are 2 5/8 inches across and 2 ½ inches deep. There are three holes on the top. They have been attached by rivets and a portion of the top piece is still present. The rivets are hand hammered. They have a nice dark brown patina. Based on the rivet attachments. We believe these date to the 19 th century. There is no damage. Up for your consideration tonight were have a RARE vintage pair of glass marble casters. The large marbles di not match. Look to be swirled and the holder looks to be made of old bronze, but I may be wrong. These were found in the basement of a 164 yr olds farm house. I used then for a while in an old antique sitting chair. I took them back out when I sold the chair, as I liked them so much and I had never seen another set like them, and haven't since. The large marbles have quite afew beat up marks on them as you can see. But still all together and solid. Could use a good polishing our sanding if possible.
