A beautiful. Rare and well provenanced Neolithic axe, dating to approximately 4000- 2000 B.C. and found in Scandinavia. This beautiful chip stone tool was made from a large piece of flint. Broken down and then chipped into form, remnants of attractive surface flaking remain in areas of the axe which are not so highly polished. Axes like this would have been attached to a sturdy wooden handle and used for chopping up trees. This tool has been ground on a larger. Flat stone and polished, a task which would have taken many hours of hard labour and care to complete and giving it an attractive smooth finish. This fascinating early flint implement. Dates to the north-west European Neolithic period(approx 4000-2000 B.C. This period saw the dawn of civilization, when Early man was leaving the Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle towards a more sedentary, farm-oriented ... moreexistence. This transition is one of the overwhelming achievements of man, enabling food surplus and the rise of civilization. Length: 6 inches. Condition: Excellent. Width: 5 cm, height: 2.5 cm Th ese thick necked axes came into use in the single grave period and up to the beaker culture and dagger time(dolktid) This axe. Polished on the front and back, unpolished on the sides, has a real marble-like feel about it. It has lovely patina. Super high gloss. It has damage on the cutting edge. But not enough to detract from the beauty of the piece. This is a working axe. So of course work-re lated scars occur. T o my mind these scars are perfectly respectable. But of course that is a matter of taste. This axe was found by my husband in Halk(south-east Jutland. Denmark) on a rainy day in December.

In excellent condition is this neolithic stone axe mounted in a handcarved wood handle. Found at an estate sale. There is a foil label attached to the axe that reads"stenokse fra 2000 aar for kr antique clemensstrasse aarhus" The handle measures 11 inches long tip to tip, and the stone measures 2 inches x 1 3/4 inches, and is numbered 3533. 2 Rare Archaic Neolithic Meteorite? Stone Celt Nepal Adze Adz Artifact Axe Tool
In past years. I was able to find a number of true archaic stone adzes, celts or axes in Nepal, but this recent trip, I only managed to acquire a few. I taught anthropology and archaeology at the University of Guam and I know authentic neolithic technology and these are genuine archaic celts that are about 2,000 years old from the Neolithic Period. The celts both stick to a magnet, so have a high iron content and I am told by local Nepalese that it is what they call sky stones or made from meteoritic material, but I am NOT a meteorite expert, so I cannot guarantee they are meteoritic. It would take laboratory analysis to determine their composition precisely. I can only tell you what the locals claim and let you come to your own conclusions in that respect, but I can guarantee they are authentic archaic artifacts.
