Up for sale is a rare Neolithic axe believed to have originated from Denmark. This ancient tool is a testament to the advancements in human craftsmanship ... moreduring the prehistoric era. Its unique design and intricate details are sure to captivate any collector of antiques and primitives. The axe has been well-preserved over the years and would make a valuable addition to any collection. Many of the artefacts recovered from this period are axes, which were used to fell trees, chop firewood, and shape timber for construction. The Danish Neolithic axes’ shapes changed from ‘point-butted’, then thin-butted, to finally thick-butted.

Neolithic Danish stone age thick necked axe, ca. 2000-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish thick necked axe. Ca. 2000-1500 BC Weight: 390 grams. Len gth: 15 cm. Width: 5 cm, height: 2.5 cm Th ese thick necked axes came into use in the single grave period and up to the beaker culture and dagger time(dolktid) This axe. Polished on the front and back, unpolished on the sides, has a real marble-like feel about it. It has lovely patina. Super high gloss. It has damage on the cutting edge. But not enough to detract from the beauty of the piece. This is a working axe. So of course work-re lated scars occur. T o my mind these scars are perfectly respectable. But of course that is a matter of taste. This axe was found by my husband in Halk(south-east Jutland. Denmark) on a rainy day in December.
Mesolithic Danish stone age core axe, Maglemose culture, ca. 7000- 5000 BC
M esolithic Danish core axe from the Maglemose culture. Ca. 70 00-5000 BC Weight: 275 grams. Length: 15 cm. Width: 5.5 cm, height: 3.5 cm These core axes are difficult to date. I say it is Maglemose. But it could also be much older. They could have been around in the Bromme culture, 10000 BC. A classic example of a core axe. This axe was found on the isle of Møn. North-west Jutland(Denmark) It is part of an old collec tion. Dating back to the 1840's.
Ancient Prehistoric Stone Age Neolithic Flint Chert Danish Axe - 2000 BC
A beautiful neolithic polished stone axe. Dating to approximately 2000 B.C. and found in Scandinavia. This beautiful stone tool was made from a large piece of flint. Broken down and then chipped into form, remnants of attractive surface flaking remain in areas of the axe which are not so highly polished. Axes like this would have been attached to a sturdy wooden handle and used for chopping up trees. This tool has been ground on a larger. Flat stone and polished, a task which would have taken many hours of hard labour and care to complete and giving it an attractive smooth finish. This fascinating early flint implement. Dates to the north-west European Neolithic period(approx 4000-2000 B.C. This period saw the dawn of civilization, when Early man was leaving the Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle towards a more sedentary, farm-oriented existence. ... moreThis transition is one of the overwhelming achievements of man, enabling food surplus and the rise of civilization. Mesolithic neolithic Danish core axe/adze, concave cutting edge ca. 3000-2000 BC
Mesolithic/neolithic Danish core axe/adze with a concave cutting edge from the late Ertebølle/early Beaker culture. Ca. 3000-2000 BC Weight: 197 grams. Length: 10.5 cm. Width: 5 cm These core axes come in a variety of forms. I haven't seen many of this type. It would have been set in the shaft horizontally and used in wood working rather than in the felling of trees. It is undamaged and has a beautiful patina. This axe was found on the isle of Mors, north-west Jutland. It is from an old collection.

Neolithic Danish 18 cm section of a thin bladed axe type I, ca. 2700-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish large section of a thin bladed axe type I. Ca. 2700-1500 BC Weight: 601 grams. Length: 18 cm. Width: 6.25 cm, height: 3 cm This is a nice section of axe if you do not have the hundreds of dollars to lay out for a complete one. It has lost most of the cutting edge. But it still is a powerful piece. Beautifully polished and patinad. Finders name is written on the axe, but is difficult to read. The find date is 1856. Neolithic Danish thick necked axe, Single grave, V-formed type, ca. 2000-1500 BC
Neolithic Danish thick necked axe. Single grave culture, V-formed type, ca. 2000-1500 BC Weight: 79 grams. Length: 12.25 cm. Width: 5.50 cm, height: 2.75 cm These V-formed type axes are from the late Single grave period. This is a beautiful example. The lovely dark brown colour often occurs in axes found in the Vildemose area. This axe has a wonderful patina and shows a really advanced knapping technique. I.e. the zigzag edge. This is a working axe and it has been retouched in ancient times, but that takes nothing from the beauty of the piece. a1.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*3Ad%60%3Ea1%3E-13f9374ce75-0xfb-

4400Y.O: WONDERFUL AX AXE DANISH STONE AGE NEOLITHIC CHALCOLITHIC FLINT DAGGER C
DANISH STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description"Thick butted b-type ax( axe) Broad bladed" Length of this terrific adze is 113 mms. Wonderful marble-like flint with fossil includings! Belonging to the last period of the Stone Age. 2400-1800 BC, known as the Dagger period( Copper Age- Chalcolithic) coincided with the early Bronze Age in the British Isles and Central Europe. Weapons and tools made of copper and bronze were introduced and provided a challenge for those who made flint tools. The result can be seen in the excellent examples of imitations in flint of foreign bronze daggers. At the end of the period, the production of metal implements finally gained a foothold, and there is evidence of an emerging new social stratification. This is reflected in finds from settlements with both small and much ... morelarger long houses. Burial customs varied from simple interments below ground or in passage graves, to burials in stone cists or log coffins covered with large mounds. The longitudinal section of this ax is V-formed. The butt-end is rectangular. The broad bladed axes are without doubt influenced by the contemporary copper and bronze axes. Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the artifact. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this terrific Younger Stone Age ax. Please view also my other auctions with relics from the European Prehistory. Powered by The free listing tool. BATTLE AXE: NEOLITHIC, 4400 years old. DANISH DRILLED
BATTLE AXE: NEOLITHIC. 4400 years old. DANISH DRILLED Length: 4 1/4" Width: 2 1/4" Height: 1 1/2" Hole Diameter: 1" Weight: 14.3 oz An incredible example of a Danish. Late Neolithic Axe, dating to around 2400 B.C. These axes were probably used for ceremonial/ battle purposes and for burial with elite males. The listed axe is in very good condition with an exceptionally large diameter base hole. Minor abrasions/dings. Experiments conducted in the 19th century to determine the time it took to drill such a hole gives one pause: from unfinished examples found in Switzerland. It appears animal bones were used with sand and water to drill into the hard rock. Experiments back then showed that it took all day to drill less than 1/4 of an inch! Patience was definitely needed. The Danish Neolithic period spanned from 3900 to circa ... more1700 BC. During this time these people began to cultivate the land and keep animals. Extensive wooded areas were gradually cleared. Burned and replaced with fields of crops and cattle, pigs and sheep appeared as domesticated animals. The big change was that groups became more sedentary as they could produce their own food, although the farming population continued for a long time to hunt and fish from the old settlements on the Danish coast. And. It was during this relatively"sedentary" period when major battles over land/food/territory produced the best and most fierce some stone axes.
