8500Y.O: FANTASTIC EARLY CHISEL DANISH STONE AGE MESOLITHIC FLINT KONGEMOSE CULT
DANISH STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description"Core Chisel" Occurs wherever core axes are found. But they are much rarer. Length of this great piece is 93mms. Of wonderful patinized marble like flint with fossil includings! Core chisels play the greatest role in the Younger Maglemose Culture(8900-6400 bc) Kongemose Culture(6400-5400 bc. and the older Erteboelle- Ellerbek Culture(5400-4000 bc. During the Mesolithic period(c.9300-4000 BC) after the end of the ice age. Hunters spread across the extensive area which connected Denmark to England during the Continental period. The forest was relatively light in the beginning with bison, wild horses, elk and aurochs. In time, the forest became more dense and red deer and roe-deer became the commonest game. Settlements were often situated near the edges of lakes ... morewhich have since become bogs. In the east of Denmark, the peat in these bogs has preserved a rich variety of weapons and tools, bones from slaughtered animals and the remains of dwellings, including hut floors made of wood and bark. During the Atlantic period, 6400-4000 BC, the sea level rose so much that the northern parts of Denmark were divided into islands, and deep fiords cut into the landscape. A dense forest dominated by limetrees spread across the land. The population was found mostly near the coasts and lived on fish and shellfish, supplemented by hunting and sealing. Food scraps were piled up in kitchen middens which contained huge numbers of oyster shells. Grave finds bear witness to care and respect for the dead. Mesolithic core chisels occur in the same variations as the core axes. They are slender with a narrow edge. May have a bevelled or symmetrical edge. Specially treated edges on chisels are unknown. The distribution is the same as the corresponding axes. But they are much rarer! Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the artifact. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this chisel from the Hunter Gatherer Stone Age. Please view
6800Y.O: GORGEOUS CHISEL DANISH STONE AGE MESOLITHIC FLINT SILEX KITCHEN MIDDEN
NORTHERN EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description"Flat-trimmed Flake Chisel" Belonging to the Ertebølle- Ellerbek culture( Kitchen Midden Culure) 5400-4000 bc. The last Mesolithic period. Flake chisels are similar to the contemporary flake axes. But the edges are very narrow. The trimming may vary as on the axes. Occours together with flake axes. But are rather rare. Flake axes(chisels) are the earliest form of axes known from the Nordic Stone Age. First appearing during the Maglemose period. They were made from large flint flakes possessing a sharp edge which formed the cutting surface. It is likely that flake axes were hafted with the flat broad side facing upwards and the cutting edge at right angles to the handle like an adze. To begin with, flint suitable for the manufacture of such ... moreflake axes was in plentiful supply. However, flints found on the surface were often frost-damaged and so raw material for making the large flake axes soon became scarce. A new type of axe, the core axe, gradually appeared and became ever more common but flake axes, often manufactured from irregular flint fragments, persisted throughout the Maglemose(8900- 6400 bc) and Kongemose(6400- 5400 bc) periods. Rising sea levels at the end of the hunter-gatherer period, exposed chalk cliffs and glacial morains, thereby providing new sources of flint. The improved availability of good flint may explain the renewed occurance of the flake axe during the Ertebølle period. Flake axes from the early Neolithic period, often of irregular form and occasionally with polishing on the blade, occur very frequently. After about the middle of the megalith grave period, flake axes essentially disappeared. They appeared once again during the dagger period(2400- 1800 bc) and the early bronze age, where often rather inferior quality flake axes are found associated with settlement sites. This chisel is in shape similar to the ax of symmetrical type. At these species the side-edges trimmed from the percus
