Retouch: a very interesting burin on long blade: it is made on break and has at least one short burin blow at the right edge. The shape of this burin/ working edge is exceptional. It is a Zinken/borer-like tip which is also trimmed at the distal end and on the exterior side. Fine Mousterian/Upper Paleolithic flint blade core from France
This blade core could be Mousterian(Neandertal) or Upper Palaeolithic and comes from the Les Eyzies region of SW France. It is made of a heavy flake of chalcedony-like chert and has large blade detachments from the dorsal face. There is wear/retouch to sides suggesting further use as a side scraper.There is a thermal fracture on the dorsal face. Suggesting an undetached Levallois flake. Very good condition with no modern damage. Age: 10000-50000BP. Size: 12.7cm x 10.1cm.
