Le Grand Pressigny is a small town(population about 1000) 60 km to the south of Tours. The area around le Grand Pressigny is characterized ... moreby several rivers: the Claise and its tributaries the Aigronne. The Brignon and the Muanne, and by the Creuse. During the 19 th century a lot of large Neolithic workshops were identified in the Le Grand Pressigny vicinity. Especially at Abilly in the Claise valley. While local enthusiasts collected enormous amounts of mainly Neolithic material, now part of the Le Grand Pressigny museums collections. During the 4th. and the 3th. Millenary BC. A highly specialized lithic production that comprised mainly flint-axes and long blades took place in Western Europe, sustained by the“mining phenomenon” The exploitation of fine-grained Upper-Turonian Flint in the area of Touraine lead to a massive production of very specific Cores(livre-de-beurre” and to a serial blade production made by indirect percussion from these cores. These long blades(minimal length: 25 cm, maximal length: 40 cm) were only marginally retouched to yield“daggers” which were exchanged over great distances(typically 200 km with a maximum of 800 km) These highly curated tools seemed to be very carefully used and processed for maximizing their functional live. Recent studies of the use-wear demonstrated their
Levallois core flint - Nucleus levallois
Nucleus Levallois Period: lower Paleolithic(300-30 ka) ORIGIN: Chaumussay- Indre-et-Loire( 37) FRANCE. Weight: 9.3 oz. The Levallois technique is a name given by archaeologists to a distinctive type of stone knapping developed by precursors to modern humans during the Palaeolithic period. It is named after nineteenth century finds of flint tools in the Levallois-Perret suburb of Paris in France. The technique was more sophisticated than earlier methods of lithic reduction. Involving the striking of flakes from a prepared core. A striking platform is formed at one end and then the core's edges are trimmed by flaking off pieces around the outline of the intended flake. This creates a domed shape on the side of the core, known as a tortoise core as the various scars and rounded form are reminiscent of a tortoise's shell. When the striking ... moreplatform is finally hit, a flake separates from the core with a distinctive plano-convex profile and with all of its edges sharpened by the earlier trimming work. This method provides much greater control over the size and shape of the final flake which would then be employed as a scraper or knife although the technique could also be adapted to produce projectile points known as Levallois points. The technique is first found in the Lower Palaeolithic but is most commonly associated with the Neanderthal Mousterian industries of the Middle Palaeolithic. In the Levant. Levallois methods were also in use in the Upper Palaeolithic and later.

impressive and heavy neanderthal blade and tool flint core ca. 50 000BC
The Neandertal was named after theologian Joachim Neander. Who lived nearby in Düsseldorf in the late 17th century. Neander" is a classicized form of the common German surname Neumann. In turn, Neanderthals were named after"Neander Valley" where the first Neanderthal remains were found. The term Neanderthal Man was coined in 1863 by Anglo-Irish geologist William King. From the period called"Mousterian" 150 000- 40 000 b.c. tools made of stone. Settlement sites and some parts of human skulls were found. Evidence for hunters and collectors in this period was found in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and other parts of Germany. Neanderthals are thought to have used tools of the Mousterian class. Which were often produced using soft hammer percussion, with hammers made of materials like bones, antlers, and wood, rather ... morethan hard hammer percussion, using stone hammers. A result of this is that their bone industry was relatively simple. However, there is good evidence that they routinely constructed a variety of stone implements. Neanderthal(Mousterian) tools most often consisted of sophisticated stone-flakes, task-specific hand axes, and spears. Many of these tools were very sharp. There is also good evidence that they used a lot of wood, objects which are unlikely to have been preserved until today. Typ: impressive and heavy blade and tool core with terrific flaking. NEOLITHIC AGED STONE FLINT TOOL MAKING CORE AMAZING!
NEOVENATOR Possibly the UK's biggest killer dinosaur. It once roamed the areas of Southern England around 120 million years ago. Preying on the herds of Iguanodon and also, I would imagine, the numerous long necked sauropods that were around at this time. It is related to the T-Rex busting Carcharodontosaurus. NEOLITHIC TOOL MAKING CORE ANCIENT ARTIFACT Period: Neolithic Age: circa 5.000 years BC Material: Silica rich rock Location: Normandy. Northern France Relaxing in the comforts of our own homes. It is easy to forget how hard life must have been 7,000 years ago. We can only try to appreciate the conditions that these'stone age' people had to face. But, by attempting to compare the documentaries about certain lost tribes, like those of the Kalahari bush men and the Australian aborigines, it gives us a brief insight in to the ... morepossible lives of these ancient people. A lot of people say that modern man has lost some of his primitive instincts and senses over time e.g. the ability to make contact with the'spirit world' etc. These are all fascinating subjects in their own right. But the craftsmanship in preparing a small piece of stone with such precision, such as this arrowhead, with only the use of primitive implements is incredible. I think we severely underestimate our ancestors too often. But first. A bit about the way they were made and the people that made them: Stone Tool Production: In order to achieve the desired implement. Different methods of manufacture were used. But first, the selection of the finest materials was required. Neolithic man was very particular about the type of materials he used. In deed, he went to great lengths to obtain these. In Norfolk, Grimes Caverns, near Weeting, there are Neolithic mine shafts in the chalk cliffs where a particular high grade flint was mined, despite other, easier accessible flint veins being present. From this raw material, the stone was prepared into a'core' and this is referred to as'dressing' From this core, various assor

7000Y.O: GREAT KNIFE + CORE + BURIN DANISH STONE AGE MESOLITHIC FLINT PATINA!
NORTHERN EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description from a coastal settlement site of the Mesolithic" Ertebölle- Ellerbek( Kitchen Midden) Culture" 5400-4000 bc. The last Hunter and Gatherer period. There are a knife. A core/ nucleus and a burin! This culture came into existence at the end of the Mesolithic period around 5400 BC and lasted to 4000 BC. The center of the Ertebolle culture is believed to have been Denmark but this people also lived in southern Scandinavia. Finland, northern Germany and Poland, and the Netherlands, which was roughly the same area as where later the Funnelbeaker people and the Germans lived. The Ertebolle people mainly lived from hunting, gathering, fishing and sealing, they used stone tools and left large piles of shells( kitchen middens) at the beaches that are ... morestill there today, the shells may have been left there as offerings to a seagod though a more plausible explanation is that they simply used such places to dump their waste. The Ertebolle culture probably also believed in an afterlife because they buried their dead in cemetaries with gravegifts, in Sweden archeologists have even found dog burials like for instance the one in Skateholm, the Ertebolle people also made woodcarvings and used canoes for fishing. From hunters to farmers: From around 4000 BC the Ertebolle people also started using polished stone axes. Improved flint tools, pottery, and some basic farming techniques, in the Netherlands the Swifterbant culture(a subgroup within the Ertebolle culture) even started using farming as one of their main sources of food, the new technologies and farming techniques of the Ertebolle culture are believed to have been adopted from neighbouring farming cultures in Germany and central Europe, officially the Funnelbeaker culture was the first Nordic farming culture but the Ertebolle culture before them had already taken its first steps towards a farming society. The transfer to farming marks the beginning of a new period; the Neolith

Exceptional Lower Paleolithic proto-Levallois flint core
Nice collection or borers, Exceptional very rare proto-Levallois flint core It is a tool from the famous site la Pointe-aux-Oies at wimereux. France. Hundred of choppers, chopping-tools, and some rare proto-handaxes were found at the base of a marine cliff, but the prehistorians never succeeded to date the site. They estimated that this lithic industry was close to the clactonian culture, by its method, but different by its tools characteristics. Some specialists think it could be the oldest site in Northern Europe and could have more than 700 000 years. This artefact is a flint core showing a preferential flake removed on the knapping surface prepared by four previous removals and by several removals made perpendicularly to this surface. This is exactly the same operational mode than in the case of The Levallois preferential flake technique. ... moreAs it is dated of the lower paleolithic, could we qualify this mode of Levallois or could we consider it as the ancestor of this technique? 15000Y.O: SUPERB 20 FLAKES + CORE MAGDALENIAN STONE AGE PALEOLITHIC FLINT SILEX
EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description Consists of a core/ nucleus used as a hammer stone/ retoucher and 20 flake artifacts/ tools! Wonderful marble-like white-blue flint patina! From an old Southern German collection! Palaeolithic Magdalenian Culture. Dating around 13000 bc. Late Upper Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer communities occupying much of northern and western Europe during the period 16000–10000 bc. The classic Magdalenian is concentrated in southern France and northern Spain. But it can also be recognized extending northwards into Britain and eastwards into the North European Plain in Germany, Poland, and as far as the Sudost River in Russia. The name is taken from the type-site rock-shelter of La Madeleine in the Dordogne Valley of southwest France. The Magdalenian stone industry is characterized ... moreby small geometrically shaped implements, especially triangles and semilunar blades, that were probably set into bone or antler handles for use, burins, scrapers, borers, backed bladelets, and shouldered and leaf-shaped projectile points. Bone was used extensively to make wedges, adzes, hammers, spear heads with link shafts, barbed points and harpoons, eyed needles, and jewellery. Their economy was based on reindeer hunting and fishing, and there is evidence of occupied caves as well as open sites. Some of the finest cave art in France and northern Spain can be attributed to these communities, as can a great many decorated bone and ivory pieces. The Magdalenian followed the Solutrean and Aurignacian and was succeeded by the simplified Azilian. Magdalenian culture disappeared as the cool. Near-glacial climate of the late Devensian Stage warmed and the animal herds the communities depended upon became scarce. Provenance is an old collection. More details will follow the artifacts. I guarantee absolutely for the authenticity of this wonderful Middle European artifact. Please view also my other auctions with relics from the European Prehistory. Powered by The free listing too
