Retouch: a beautiful pointed blade of slender. Arched shape. The tip is significantly retouched at both edges, the straight right lateral edge has a continuous fine retouch/ use-wear. Proximal end is a genuine old break which has fine use-wear at the rounded(by use) corner to the straight lateral edge(no picture, but the rounded edge can well be seen in the last picture of the interior side) Raw-material: gray-brown flint, Preservation: very well. EUROPEAN STONE AGE ARTIFACTS BY PALATINA AUTHENTICITY GUARANTEED Description European Palaeolithic Magdalenian Culture. Dating around 12000 BP. Late Upper Palaeolithic hunter-gatherer communities occupying much of northern and western Europe during the period 16000–10000 bc. The classic Magdalenian is concentrated in southern France and northern Spain. But it can also be recognized extending northwards into Britain and eastwards into the North European Plain in Germany, Poland, and as far as the Sudost River in Russia. The name is taken from the type-site rock-shelter of La Madeleine in the Dordogne Valley of southwest France. The Magdalenian stone industry is characterized by small geometrically shaped implements, especially triangles and semilunar blades, that were probably set into bone or antler handles for use, burins, scrapers, borers, ... morebacked bladelets, and shouldered and leaf-shaped projectile points. Bone was used extensively to make wedges, adzes, hammers, spear heads with link shafts, barbed points and harpoons, eyed needles, and jewellery. Their economy was based on reindeer hunting and fishing, and there is evidence of occupied caves as well as open sites. Some of the finest cave art in France and northern Spain can be attributed to these communities, as can a great many decorated bone and ivory pieces. The Magdalenian followed the Solutrean and Aurignacian and was succeeded by the simplified Azilian. Magdalenian culture disappeared as the cool. Near-glacial climate of the late Devensian Stage warmed and the animal herds the communities depended upon became scarce. This terrific flint artifact with carefully trimmed edges is 46 mms long. Retouch: a terrific. Small, sturdy double tool on flake: the end shown towards the top of the pictures in the burin on concave retouch truncation and the endscraper. The retouched edge is concave towards the burin blows, convex at the corner to the left edge, and it has, aside of broad flaking, countless tiny use-scars at the edge, which come into being when used as endscraper(pictures 2, 3) The burin has 3 blows(pictures 4, 5) The other burin is made on break, with ... moreone blow which has a retouch/ use-wear at it’s edge(pictures 7,8) The break is blunted/ used at the other corner(picture 6, right corner) Raw-material: dark gray-brown flint, Preservation: very well.
