This handaxe has been made on a marbled flint nodule. The axe is wedged shaped with a ridged back. The rear profile is triangular. The axe has been worked to produce a substantial elongated point. The base of the axe remains cortical for grasping. This tool is in very good condition with great patination. It would make a great addition to any collection. The side profile is straight, the front view has a very slight s shape, there is an area to one side that has traces of cortex for grasping(left handed) The tool shows considerable aged orange patination with signs of frost pitting that looks like worked nibbling in places. This tool has been made from a thick flint flake from a nodule. This bifacial axe is subtriangular plan and made with a robust point. One side edge has some cortex to grip whilst in use. The working detail is very good. Every knapping blow can bee seen very clearly. The tool appears to have been made for lefthanded use. It would make a great addition to any collection. This tool has been from a from a flint nodule. It is triangular in plan and worked to form a point and side scraping edge. The dorsal side is mostly worked. There is a small area at the distal end that retains some cortex. The ventral side is flat and smooth where it has been detached from the main nodule. This is a very nicely worked and detailed tool. The ventral side is flat an roughly finished, the dorsal side is rounded and finely worked. The tool is in superb condition. It has crisp working detail with great patination, far better in the hand than the photo. Made by Homo heidelbergensis Dating approx 350.000-200,000 years Found Norththfleet. Large 13.5cm Acheulian Biface/handaxe from Kent a646 For sale; from my personal fieldwalking collection is a large Acheulian biface. This wonderful biface has been made on marbled flint core. It is roughly oval in plan and has been made with an isolated point. The base of the axe is very slightly convex and smooth. The sides of the axe are straight. The butt retains a cortical area of around 10% to place the palm against. This tool is in superb condition with nice working detail and great patination. Far better in the hand than the photo.
