This group of 30 Sahara Neolithic relics is composed of diverse types of relics. Which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes two trianglar Eiffel Tower points from Algeria(top second from right and the one right beneath it) This group consist of several types and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 16 stone projectile points and tools, 10 hard-stone beads(mostly quartz disc beads) one pottery bead(western Mauratania) one hardstone celt, and a cylindrical labret of quartz thought to be used in body piercing or lips or ears. Not perfect, tt may have ancient damge, hard to tell but stil nice. There is one unifacil blade ... moreseen at the bottom row to the right is from the late Mesolithic era or early Neolithic Morocco. Dating to approximately 7,000 years Before Present. At the upper right you will see an Auterian tool. This is the earlier known type of stone tool with a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. It is classic form with a tipped which is worked around for scrapping(not broken) This relic is a good 30,000 years old, possibly much older. A strand of ancient neolithic large shell beads from Mali. West Africa. Who knows how old these beads are, shell beads have been found in Africa that are estimated to be 75,000 years old. I would guess them to be neolithic to paleolithic. The beads have calcified because they have been buried for thousands of years, this causes them to be softer than the more recent ones. I have rinsed them in clear water to remove the white powdery residue. The condition is very good. T he beads measure in diameter 8 mm to 18.6 mm and in length 10 mm to 42.7 mm. PLUS one Paleolithic Aterian tool, is composed of diverse types of relics, which were discovered on ancient habitation sites deep in the western Sahara desert, mostly in the vicinity of northern Muaratania/Mali but also includes two trianglar'Eiffel Tower' poinst from Algeria. This group consist of several type and subtypes of projectile points from varying periods of the Neolithic era. Including ovate, stemmed, triangular, and unifacial tool forms. In all there are 21 Neolithic stone projectile points and tools including: two early unifacial tools(bottom row) Also from the Neolithic era are 10 hard-stone beads(quartz disc beads) two pottery beads(Mauratania) and one hard stone celt. At the upper right you will see an Aterian tool from the Sahara. This is the earlier known type of stone tool ... morewith a stem for hafting. Probably to serve as a knife/scrapper. This tool is VERY old with weathered features and deep black and orange patina. The point has been worked into a shape for cutting/scrapping and was probably a hafted knive rather than a spear point. This relic is approximately 30,000 years old, quite possibly up to 50,000 years old. 1 5/8th inches(43 mm) long. Lot Description: This is a nice group of 16 SaharaNeolithic beads plus one pre-form(shaped out but not drilled) I seldom sell beads. As they are too hard to get, however I need to trim my personal collection down a bit. I have put aside several lots of beads and may sell more depending on the demand for this type of relics. Drilling is bi-conal as was the technqiue during the period before metal tools. The smallest diameter is approximately 5/16th inch(8 mm) The largest diameter is 5/8th inch inch(15 mm) at the widest. Lithics are of flint, quartz, carnelian, others all nice atractive pieces. The condition is good. There may be a minor ancient ding or two, as can be expected with 3,000 year old artifacts, most are complete. See picture for details. The color in hand. Is better than the picture indicates.
