WOW!! primitive axe/chopper/pebble tool homo erectus 300-200 000BC
The term"old stone age" was introduced by the english prehistorian John Lubbock. Who was ennobled in 1900 and after that called Lord Avebury. The old stone age ist the oldest and longest period of the stone age. It began when people first tried to use stone as raw material to produce tools and weapons. This period ended in europe at the same time with the ice age about 10.000 years ago. Cultures of the old stone age lived in every part of the world. In addition to hand axes and cleavers. The Acheulean industry included choppers and flakes. The latter were produced from a prepared core and could be used as knives without further change or could be chipped to make side-scrapers, burins, and other implements. Though bone and wood were probably also used as tools. From the period coalled Altacheuleen(700-300 000 BC) tools made of stone. ... moreBones and wood. Neolithic good large scraper chopper axe stone tool from North America #1
A good quality. Large chopper or scraper from the Neolithic of Indiana, North America. A nice piece that fits well in the hand. Shown next to a 20mm/ 0.75 inch penny for scale. So you only need read it once as it is the same for every item: In all cases the following applies: You always get the exact specimen shown and the specimen is complete(unless noted or indicated as such by the images) Full geological data is included with each specimen even though it is not always listed in the listing description. Please note that larger and more valuable items not in the Budget categories will incur higher shipping costs. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. The cost of shipping is shown in each listing. On orders of $75 or more insurance is required and this is an additional $7. Due to the need to be able to list these low cost items quickly(otherwise it is not cost effective) we have posted largely unedited photos. In most cases the images are raw with no correction to lighting etc. but the zoom option will let you get a good look at the fossils. Again this sav

Chopper - shopping tool - Lower Paleolithic-
Period: lower Palaeolithic(2.6Ma-300 ka) ORIGIN: Chaumussay- Indre-et-Loire( 37) FRANCE To create this tool. One would have to use a hammerstone to chip away flakes on the stone to create a side of the stone with a very sharp edge. Allowing for the cutting and hacking of an object. This is a unique type of d ue to only a single side of the stone being retouched to produce the cutting surface of the stone. The side that does not do the cutting is left unscathed. An unusual practice. These old instruments were made from specific materials. Initially, they were composed of quartz, quartzite, basalt, or obsidian. In the later years of the oldowan age, two other materials were used: flint and chert. These materials could hold an edge while fairly easy to craft into the shape desired. The tool is designed to fit in the palm of the hand, and it ... moreis not attached to any other mount that could possibly be used. Known as one of the earliest tools(if not the earliest) its design is a very simple piece of technology, but its performance was very successful in many different scenarios. Seeing the history of these objects and how many cultures used them, it is not a surprise to find spread throughout the world. A potential stone mass found today could be classified as a chopper if a worn edge showing signs of evidence of tool use is present. Weight: 1 lb 12 oz
