This implement was found close to the Roman town of Vagniacae at Northfleet in Kent. This area borders the famous Palaeolithic site at Swanscombe, which is around a mile away. A very large and massive tapered Danish axe in a grey chert flint with characteristic squared sides and polishing to the main surfaces, providing an effective, slightly convex cutting edge with some evidence of re-sharpening due to use. Rare Archaic Neolithic Meteorite? Stone Celt Nepal Adze Adz Artifact Ax Axe Tool
In past years. I was able to find a number of true archaic stone adzes, celts or axes in Nepal, but on my recent trip, I only managed to acquire a few. I taught anthropology and archaeology at the University of Guam and I know authentic neolithic technology and this one is a genuine archaic celt that about 2,000 years old from the Neolithic Period. The celt sticks to a magnet, so has a high iron content and I am told by local Nepalese that it is what they call a sky stone or made from meteoritic material, but I am NOT a meteorite expert, so I cannot guarantee it is meteoritic. It would take laboratory analysis to determine its composition precisely.
