a 29.5 inch 75cm strand of large ancient neolithic shell beads mali #27
A strand of ancient neolithic large shell beads from Mali. West Africa. Who knows how old these beads are, shell beads have been found in Africa that are estimated to be 75,000 years old. I would guess them to be neolithic to paleolithic. The beads have calcified because they have been buried for thousands of years, this causes them to be softer than the more recent ones. I have rinsed them in clear water to remove the white powdery residue. The condition is very good. T he beads measure in diameter 8 mm to 18.6 mm and in length 10 mm to 42.7 mm. The length of the strand is 29.5 inches. 75 cm. The picture is enlarged to show detail, please refer to the measurements for the actual size. Ancient Prehistoric Stone Age Neolithic Flint Danish Dagger Scandinavian
A beautiful. Extremely rare and well provenanced neolithic dagger, dating to approximately 2300- 2000 B.C. and found in Scandinavia. This beautiful chip stone tool was made from a large piece of flint. Broken down and then chipped into form, the attractive surface flaking was created by the use of a soft hammer, likely made from bone, or antler. Beautiful stitching marks, clearly showing where each chip was removed by the ancient knapper. The emergence of flint daggers in late neolithic Scandinavian cultures is seen as a fascinating response to new technology being used in the production of bronze daggers in central Europe. From the 3rd millennium onwards. This new metal weaponry clearly made an impression on the surrounding cultures of this period, who began to make flint copies, and who's influence can be seen through their stylistic ... moresimilarities. This fascinating early flint implement. Dates to the north-west European Neolithic period(approx 4000-2000 B.C. This period saw the dawn of civilization, when Early man was leaving the Hunter-Gatherer lifestyle towards a more sedentary, farm-oriented existence. This transition is one of the overwhelming achievements of man, enabling food surplus and the rise of civilization. Length: 4 3/4 inches. Condition: Good. Tip and handle of dagger broken, old collection label, likely bearing the find site, still attached. Provenance: An extremely well provenanced piece. From the collection of James Curle(1862-1944) of Melrose, Scotland, and thence by descent. Although a lawyer by profession, Curle was an accomplished amateur archaeologist and his name remains one of the most famous in the field of Romano-British Archaeology, having excavated and published extensively in the early 1900's. From 1888-1903 Curle acquired the most magnificent collection of Nordic antiquities outside Scandinavia, eventually selling most of his pieces to the British Museum in 1921. The Curle collection in the British Museum has been the subject of numerous publications and remains an important

Ancient Danish Stone Age Neolithic Type III Flint Dagger - Gotland
A beautiful. Rare and well provenanced neolithic type III dagger, dating to approximately 2100 B.C. and found in Gotland, Sweden. Ancient Neolithic Greek Stone Votive Axe Head. Gift to Gods c. 5000 BC--2000 BC!
ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS Artifacts. Antiques& Fine Collectables Neolithic Greek Stone Axe or Celt Votive or Oracle Gift to the Gods c. 5000 BC to 2000 BC Original. Authentic, and Extremely RARE! This neolithic Greek axe head is believed to a sacrificial or votive item given as an offering to the Gods of ancient Greece. It is a museum quality example of an ancient Greek sacrificial piece that would have been used as an offering to the Gods at an oracle or temple. It may have also been a ritual tomb object that would be offered to the Gods. This 100% original and authentic small axe(also called a celt) dates to the early Greek or Macedonian period. Circa 5000-2000 BC and was unearthed in Greece. It is museum quality and similar neolithic stone axes can be found at the Metropolitan Museum(MET) in New York City. It has been polished smooth by an ancient craftsman. It measures approximately 2.56" long x 1.58" tall x.77" thick(65 mm x 40 mm x 20 mm) and weighs just 2.8 oz. or 80 grams. In ancient Greece. The practice of dedicating objects to deities was common. It appears to have been a natural outcome of gratitude for the benefits received by a person who asked for a god’s assistance. The dedicated objects could be large or small. Depending upon the nature of the request. For example. The Nine Archons of Athens took an oath upon entering the office that they would dedicate a gold statue at Delphi that was equal in size to them if they transgressed the laws. Gold. Jewels, statutes, silver, bronze, stone offerings or even a small as a piece of terracotta pottery could be offered to the gods. Archeologists believe that the ancient Greeks thought the gods would be more likely to grant their wish or request if the applicant for their benefits promised something of value in return—an offering. TRANSLATE Arabic Chinese French German Greek Indonesian Italian Hindi Japanese Korean Swedish Portuguese Russian Spanish The Natural World TimeFrame. DESCRIPTION: Hardback: 176 pages. Publisher: Time-Life Books Inc; 1991) The Time Frame series was released in the late 80's-early 90's. Each volume undertakes to describe the major events that happened in one specific time period in the development of mankind’s civilization(s) The volumes are richly illustrated. And designed as an introduction to the time frame covered. Especially compelling are the artists interpretations or recreations of what various ancient civilizations would have looked like– their architecture, homes, monuments, cities, daily life, jewelry, food, family life, dwellings, occupations, etc. As just one instance, the ruins of Babylon and Ur, Athens and Rome hint at ... morethe incredible richness of those fabled cities. The artist’s recreations in this series are simply mind-numbing. This is as close as you can be to actually having been there. The entire series is truly a magnificent introduction to the history of the era. If you could have just one book(or series of books) to introduce the history of humankind. This would have to be it. The overviews are concise and well-written. Together with the illustration and pictures they impart a wonderful mental and emotional“picture” of what life must have been like in various civilizations and at various times. Done in a style so wonderfully characteristic of Time-Life’s publications, these are over-sized“coffee table” type books full of impressive imagery. The pictures of the world’s greatest art and architecture alone are worth the cost of these books. But don’t get the impression that these volumes are“fluff” While a particular volume might not quite take the place as a university degree, the material is well-written, informative, and immensely intellectually gratifying, overview though it might be. The material is divided into a number of subjects which will give you an idea of the rich content;

Ancient Nordic Stone Age Neolithic Flint Sickle Blade - 2000 BC
A particularly beautiful. Rare and well provenanced Neolithic sickle blade, uncovered in Denmark and dating to approximately 2000 B.C. As farming tools, flint sickles are perhaps the most emblematic of all Neolithic artefacts, representing the revolutionary transition of human society from a lifestyle of hunting and gathering to one of agriculture and settlement. Of plano-convex outline. Unpolished dark brown flint. Chip carved with meticulous care and precision, this remarkable tool was made from a large piece of flint, broken down and then worked into its striking form. With a beautiful gloss, percussion marks are still visible on the surface where the stone has been worked with a bone or antler tine. The use of stone tools persisted in Scandinavia for far longer than the majority of Europe. As such. The societies of the late Nordic Neolithic ... moreproduced some of the most technically complex flint artefacts in the world. Due to their complexity, the makers of these pieces were likely to have been specialists who participated only in the production of flint tools and weapons. Produced by an individual with a true mastery of their craft. This piece is a beautiful symbol of the final flourish of the European flint working industry. Length: 4 1/2 inches. Condition: Excellent. Old collection label still attached. The Curle collection in the British Museum has been the subject of numerous publications and remains an important reference point for scholars of prehistoric Nordic arti

Neolithic Stone Bowl --------Egyptian Clovis Paleolithic Monolithic *Ancient*
Neolithic stone bowl that measures approximately 5 1/8" in diameter x 3 1/2" tall. This specimen is in very good condition. The material listed here was collected from the North West Sahara Desert in Africa. This material is often referred to as"Saharan Neolithic" and is approximately 3.000 to 5,000 years old. Rare USA? Ancient Neolithic Stone Age Hand Axe Tool Artifact Sharp Primitive
Rare USA? Ancient Neolithic Stone Age Hand Axe Tool Artifact Sharp Primitive For your consideration today I have a Rare Ancient Neolithic Stone Age Hand Axe U.S.A? Celt? Tool Artifact Sharp Primitive. I bought this at an estate auction. They really had some very high end stone age items that I just couldn't afford. I bought this and a few other items that I will list at another time. It is 5" long. PLEASE SEE MY PHOTOS. THEY ARE PART OF MY DESCRIPTION! All items are old and not mint unless I say so. Some wear is expected on vintage or antique items and not considered a flaw unless a major detraction. I find them at estate sales and auctions. Please don't buy a vintage item and expect it to be like new unless I mention it. If you want new. Buy new. I encourage anything electric to have a new plug or cord put on, just common sense. ... moreI do try out all things to make sure they turn on, or work as intended, but can not guarantee how long a 60 year old item will keep working. I leave them pretty much alone, only wipe off dust so as-found patina. Some items are mine that I have collected for over 40+ years. Please see photos as they are part of my description. Ancient Neolithic Arrowhead. artifact
Ancient Neolithic Arrowhead Circa: 6000 BC to 4000 BC Dimensions: 1.8" 4.8.2 cm) Length x 0.9" 2.3 cm) Wide Collection: Neolithic condition: Very fine Origin: Jordan The creation of tools utilizing the natural environment is what distinguishes man from animal. What was once created using stone. Wood, and bone has, over the centuries, evolved into metalworking and modern-day plastics. But it is the earliest tools, those carved from stone, which allowed mankind to conquer the natural environment and to prosper. Holding this arrowhead in our hand, delicately carved to a fine point thousands of years ago, we are holding the nascent breath of civilization. Tools allowed mankind to utilize his natural setting to its fullest potential, to altar the surroundings to suite his needs, and to create his own collective habitats that would eventually ... moreevolve into great cities. An arrowhead head like this one, when tied securely to a wooden shaft, could have been used to fell a fleeing prey or to spear a fish. As well, the delicate serrated edge could be used to cut and prepare the meat for cooking. This stone arrowhead represents the innate human drive to altar the environment, to innovate, and to conquer. It is in these earliest tools that we are able to witness the birth of civilization. From such tools, mankind learned to carve stones and rocks into new shapes and forms that suited the needs of the people evolving from arrowheads to temples Unconditionally guaranteed authentic please check my other Ebay store items

Ancient Stone Age Neolithic flint Arrow head
A beautiful. Rare and well provenanced Neolithic arrowhead, dating to approximately 3000- 2000 BC and found in Scandinavia. This cream coloured flint arrowhead has a beautiful linear form. Despite its use as a functional weapon, one can appreciate the artistic merit of this wonderful piece. Made from a large piece of flint, which was broken down and then worked into shape using the advanced pressure flaking technique. This technique made use of a sharp implement, likely made from bone, or antler. The simple beauty of this object belies its true role as vicious weapon. Produced to be used in a highly turbulent period. Superb Ancient Danish Neolithic Flint Dagger Blade With Fine Retouch
A superb Neolithic flint dagger from Denmark. With a lovely dark brown patina. My father told me he bought this dagger at auction in the 1970s and that it came from Denmark but he didn't know exactly where. 14cm in length 3.5cm in width 1cm in thickness at the thickest point of the handle 0.5cm in thickness at the thinnest point of the blade Please note the antiquities on sale in my eBay shop are 100% authentic and were given to me from the private collection belonging to my late father.
