SET of 4 Mid Century Iron Metal 28" HAIRPIN LEGS Vintage Heavy Duty
joe calcite SET of 4 MID CENTURY HEAVY DUTY HAIRPIN LEGS This offering is for a set of 28" tall hairpin legs made of heavy 1/2" thick metal rod. There is a small metal'button' foot welded on the end of each leg. These legs are made differently than is typical. Which can be seen in the photos. This attachment system seems to be stronger/ sturdier. Also, it allows for the legs to be spread or squeezed slightly when attached to get a thinner or wider appearance. These have all been wire brushed. Rust primered, and sprayed with one coat of black enamel. The result is a nice clean finish. However, i may well have missed a few spots, and there will likely be dings from shipping, so anticipate a second coat of black. Fantastic set of FOUR VINTAGE 1950's era MCM Mid Century Modern HAIRPIN Table Legs in PRISTINE condition! These were salvaged from a severely water damaged table and have been restored to ABSOLUTE perfection. The original paint was flaking off and they had some EXTREMELY LIGHT surface rust which was lightly sandblasted off but there is ABSOLUTELY NO PITTING to the metal! They were originally installed with the top ends stuck into holes in a metal frame under the wood top. The frame was too far gone to save but without it. There was no way to reuse the legs as they were, so I welded small corner brackets on the tops so they could be attached to any flat material you want. The brackets are as thin as a dime and the screws will be to the inside of the leg so you can install them as close as 1" from the edge of the material. Everything ... morewas then sprayed with two coats of automotive grade sealing primer and then THREE top coats of automotive grade enamel in SATIN BLACK. These have never looked so good and will certainly stand out on your next project! Most furniture makers would use modern Square Drive or Phiips Head screws to attach them to the wood, but I can include FOR FREE 16 VINTAGE Slotted(Flat) Head wood screws(painted to match) if you need them. Made of 3/8" diameter steel. Each measures 28" long. The 5/8" wide angle bracket is 4" X 4" The spread of the legs at the top is 5-3/4" wide and they taper to approx 1-1/4" wide at the bottom just above the bend. I occassionally use USPS for lightweight items if it is cheaper. These legs are 27.75” long. From the top plate to the bottom of the feet. The hairpin part is 12.5” long. The triangle top plates are 8.25” on the long side, and 4.25” high. The feet are swivel style, so the bottom will be flat even if the leg isn’t perfectly straight. On offer is this set of 4 used solid brass 1950's/ 60's furniture legs. They are in good useable condition but in need of a good polish. The base of each leg has a small rubber bung which is still intact. The legs are approx 20cm long and the mounting base at the top of each leg measues approx 4.7cm x 6cm. The mounting base has 4 holes so that the legs can be attached to the piece of furniure in question by wood screws. The four legs weigh close to 900 grams.
