Antique 20 1/2" Medina NY Cast Iron Machine Age Industrial Table Base Leg Ornate
Please use the Supersize Feature on our pictures at the top and below the description as we consider them to be a very important part of our auctions- our photos show great detail and they are about the next best thing to"being there" Here is another great looking antique cast iron table base or leg– a little bit more ornate than the standard Machine Age Industrial salvage pieces we usually offer. This stand or base stands 20 ½” tall at the top and measures 9” across the bottom of the base. The circular top measures 12” across at the outside edges and between 11 ½” and 11 ¾” across at the inside rim or shelf. One side of that inside shelf is marked SPECIAL and the opposite side is marked SIZE 11 ¾. The center post is topped with an emblem that also tightens up the bolt at the bottom– the emblem or topper is marked ... moreMEDINA. N.Y. W. IDE. Each side has a wonderful scroll work arm to support the top piece. The center post. Pole or leg has a stacked look which attaches to the domed base. I took a picture of how the top is attached with the old original screws on one side from underneath. This stand or table base needs to either have the bolt or screw that runs up the center replaced or tightened up. There is no damage to the piece– no breaks. Cracks, or repairs. There are some areas of old original paint, and some areas of rust coloring. The bottom of the base has the most rust coloring, but there are no areas of pitting or weakness in the metal. We gave this pieces a quick going over with a hard bristle brush and nothing else. With a bit of time and elbow grease, this will be a work of art. We have up for auction today a set of 4 M atching L arge Cast Iron Eagle Claw and Ball Bathtub Feet! They are in good condition, but not perfect. They are marked on back but we couldn't make it out so w e scraped some of the paint off on the back side and it looks like it reads 1874 not sure. see pic) They need a good cleaning and repainting. They are heavy and solid. They measure 4in from front to back on top and is 5in wide at the largest part. They did come out of an old stone blocked house. Don't miss out on this great find! Set of 20 matching original antique bin pulls. Made of cast iron, these pulls are 4 1/8" wide with a 2 7/8" hole to hole center mounting. These were cleaned of old paint to restore the fine detail, some of the detail shows wear on some more than others. There are no breaks or cracks to any. These were ceramic bead blasted, and coated with wd-40 to prevent rusting until painted. You will need to clean with denatured alcohol or mineral spirits before painting. Industrial Ornate Cast Iron Table Leg Set - Vintage
This a nice pair of vintage cast iron furniture legs purchased about 10-12 years ago from a salvage yard in the Berkeley/Oakland area in CA. The story is that they were a matched pair with marble tops. But the marble was gone when these were purchased. They are in very good condition, and would make a nice set of legs for new marble tops. Age and manufacturer are not available, as there are no cast-in markings. The table legs are 28-1/2" high. Each leg is 15" wide at the top and bottom. The legs are 27-1/2" apart. And are separated by a middle trussed spacer, which have two threaded studs on each end. The legs are held together by two nuts on each side, which hold the middle trussed spacer. These legs can be used to make either one large table, or two smaller matching tables. One stud broke off. And was replaced by drilling ... moreinto the end, and potting a threaded 5/16-18 threaded rod with epoxy into the drilled hole(see picture) Also please note that some of the threaded studs are bent, but are functional(see pictures) The legs weigh 21 pounds each. For a total of 42 pounds. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The hinges are estate fresh. And could use a detailed cleaning. The hinges are cast iron with a brass pin. The hinge on the rights pin is half way out and needs to be pounded back in. I put some water on the right hinge to bring out the details. The hinges would have been door hinges for a very old cabinet. They measure 2 1/2in tall x 3 1/2in wide, opened flat. These aren't trunk hinges, and would have gone on a door. The pole measures 22" long. The base has an approx 1/2" hole for a threaded screw. The pole has an approx 3/8" opening on both ends, one to affix the base, one to affix a table top to. Ornate Cast iron mortising machine kitchen island with hearts
Rare ornate Martin Buck mortising machine patented Nov 23 1869. The majority of this type of cast iron machinery is very plain without much ornamentation. The manufacturers would sometimes make the piece ornate to show off their machine. This cast iron base has many hearts cast into the front back and sides. Most of he hearts are smaller in the corners of the machine and two of he hearts are large on the end of the casting. One of the hearts is upside down. There is also another star type design on the other end of the machine base. There is a large vintage heavy duty butcher block mounted to the top of the base. The butcher block is mounted off center as you can see in the photographs to allow two stools to be used under the island. The butcher block can also be mounted evenly on both sides if you do not want to use it as counter to sit ... moreat. The butcher block top is 48 inches long, 24 inches wide and 4 inches thick. The vintage butcher block top is in good condition with a few splits and marks. There are a couple of small spots of darker wood. The island is 36 inches high including the butcher block thickness. The paint on the base is original and worn, there are a few different colors coming through and a little rust in areas. There are 3 wheels on the base that originally had leather belt connecting them to spin the cutter that made the mortise joints. The wheels are ornamental now and held on with brackets rather than motor mounted bearings. There are a few nicks and small cracks on the base which are almost impossible to see and do not take away from the structural integrity of the base. This salvaged piece is almost 150 years old. It was cast in Lebanon New Hampshire.
