Medieval/gothic oak carved tracery panels: part of 15th/16th century screen
These seven portions of an incomplete medieval carved oak tracery screen date from the late 15th/ 16th century and exhibit the skill of the carver to great effect. The screen is'blind' in that only one side is carved. The other side being flat and probably originally laid over panelling. The paired arches are moulded and bear cusps at their heads with finely carved and delicate protruding florets. Each pair of joined arches is surmounted by a roughly diamond-shaped floral carving. The base of each arch bears a central upright miniature'poppy-head' as seen on church bench-ends, especially in East Anglia. The widened base of each'poppy-head' encloses a carved flower surrounded by foliage. The oak has a rich patina acquired over many years: the backs of the pieces have that grey tone of age. Please see the pictures to ... moreget a better idea of the quality of these pieces. The sections are shown as they appear on my wall. With gaps allowing for any obvious missing sections. As the sections rest on a wooden ledge, the oak has not been damaged in any way; small brackets have been used to hold pieces against the wall. On the reverse, occasional use has been made of Blu-tak to help temporary attachment to the wall. I will number the pieces to allow easy assemblage. The whole'run' of pieces measures 1metre 20cm. With a maximum height of 59cm. The'poppy-heads' are 21cm high. The round pegs used by the carver to join sections are visible in places and the individual sections are, of course, quite fragile. Nevertheless, this tracery has been on the wall for 15 years without mishap and should last for many more years. A difficult thing to pack. I have estimated postage costs. this is an extremely rare 18th century large hand carved wooden stylized horse corbels. it is pretty large and cut from a piece of solid very heavy piece of oak.i believe" which has wonderful grain, and a great patina from age. it is beautifully cut into the shape of a stylized horse with lots of deeply cut detailing. And a nice flowing shape. its extremely ornate with exquisite age. it is cut flat at the back to fit a wall. Antique Hand Carved Oak Wood Cabinet Door Ornate Thistle Arch Pattern Victorian Description: Up for sale is this estate rescued old door. It looks to be a door off of a cabinet of some kind. It measures 24 3/4" x 17 1/2" x 2" including the knob) As you can see from the photos this cabinet is carved by hand. The carving is rough and irregular but still beautiful in its intricacy! The pattern looks like it depicts a thistle plant inside of an arched design. You can also see that there are a couple of pieces missing from the design including one of the oval shaped designs in the top left and possibly two rectangle shaped pieces at the top of the columns below the arch. The knob also looks to have been hand carved. This door still has the original hinges which are rusted in place. The back of the door looks as though it had 2 cross ... morepieces which have been removed. The door does have some cracks developing in the bottom as you can see in the photos. All we have done to this door is give it a light cleaning to remove ages of dust. A very cool door that would make an impressive wall hanging or for your next project! Thank You! Pair of Antique Carved Quartersawn Oak Panels in Original Finish, Griffins, Urns
Here's a pair of highly carved antique oak panels with a beautiful original finish. Of considerable size. They each measure 12" wide by 24" tall with a maximum thickness of about an inch. The condition is outstanding with the exception of a nail hole and a small edge chip on one. Probably from the sides of an impressive sideboard or cabinet. I would estimate the date of manufacture to be from about 1880 to 1900. With classic florals, urns, vines and griffins. The camera flash makes the finish appear much more shiny than in real life. Up for your consideration are these two oak or ash decorative wood panels. I am hoping the pictures will give you a better description as to condition and actual type of wood. The panels are in nice condition considering their age. There is some age cracking and other slight cracking, especially around the dowel areas. Antique carved Oak Pediment Header Back Splash Crown Architectural Salvage
This piece came off a dresser or cabinet. I can't remember which. There is a groove across the back where something fit onto it and there are screw holes as well. It was refinished at some point with what looks like an oil based clear finish under which I see what looks like swirl marks from an orbital sander. They're not deep. So the whole front could be sanded and re-finished which is what I would do if I had a good place for this in my house. It measures: 19.5" long x 2.25" tall(in the center) 3.5" on the ends x 7/8" thick(not counting the medallions) It's 1" thick with the medallions. 1880s 43" Architectural Salvage Carved Oak Wood Pediment Molding from Pump Organ Description Up for sale is this estate rescued carved oak piece from an antique Beckwith Pump Organ! This very long piece measures 43 1/2" long x 5" It was the front piece of the organ just above the keyboard cover. It has a lock that we have left in which takes a triangular shaped key. The key was never recovered. As you can see from the close-ups the cuts go all of the way through the wood and appear to be hand carved as seen in their inconsistencies. Very cool! Each of the carved areas measure 10" x 3 1/4" This piece has 3 pins in the top that were used to hold it in place. There are also 2 pieces glued onto the ends of the back which had pins that slid into the sides of the organ. There are felt pieces on either end that prevented ... morethe piece from rattling when it was installed and the organ was being played! The carved openings are backed with a red cloth that looks to be original. You can see from the photos that the cloth has some rips in it. We found that it is quite fragile as we caused one of those rips when we were cleaning this great old piece. Oops. This piece consists of 4 pieces of wood. The long front piece with the carvings. A piece attached to the bottom which measures about 1 3/8" allowing this piece to stand on its own and the 2 pieces on the back which the attaching pins. The back piece is 1/4" thick and the base piece is 1/2" thick. The manufacture date on the organ had faded but the latest patent dates listed on the label were from the 1880s. Pair Antique Solid Oak Wood Claw Foot Legs Heavy Furniture Chair Table Carved
A pair of heavy solid oak furniture legs. Claw foot ends. Bolts in the mounting end. Very clean for Antique items minimal wear. Hand carved. No maker name. The legs are 17 1/2 inches long x 6 inches wide x 2 1/4 inches deep. Each leg weighs about 3 1/2 pounds. No cracks or splits.

Eastlake Spoon Carved Victorian Pediment Fretwork Tiger Oak Panel
Large. Salvaged panel with spoon carved Eastlake details, 2 medallions, pierced fretwork with clovers, 4 columns. Measures 13.5 inches tall in the front and 13.25 inches in back for one long side angles back slightly. The piece measures 45.5 inches long. Has a one inch ledge. Beautiful dark tiger oak. There are two holes on the ends(one each end) and one minor chip on the very end(see photo) On the back there are scratches like someone scratch the wood when taking something off- perhaps something that was at one time behind the open fretwork. There is also a red stain- perhaps the remnants of old glue. On one of the smaller panels, there are couple of small chips on the front(see photo) Other than this, the fretwork is in great shape. Back frame is in great shape as well. Nails hold on the back frame, no screws. Oak Desk Divider Spindle Rail Carved Pediment Shelf Railing
This auction is for a older vintage furniture trim item. The railing is 19" long with each Oak spindle being 3" tall and 1" dia. at the fat part. The turned spiral rod is 3/8" dial and the two end spindles have holes in the back to take more rod. Very careful S&H in US will vary with distances.
