Personally, I would leave them as is, for a natural antique look and they have a ... morenice natural patina. The main body of the finials measure about 7 -1/2 inches tall and 4 - 3/4 inches wide. The wood pegs on the bottom are about 5/8 inches wide, and one is a little longer than the other. They are not perfect but absolutely beautiful and very hard to find a nice matching pair like this. I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

Mixed Lot of 6 Primitive Antique 19th Century Turned Wood Furniture Finials I have to tell you about the auction that I went to this week. It was in Geneva Illinois. In a sandstone building that was built before the Civil War. The sale was the final liquidation of an antique store(they‘d had one previous auction- so much stuff, they had to have two) that used to operate out of this location- but the building has been closed, as well as the business, for over 20 years following the passing of the previous owners. Now, we’re talking two stories, an attic and a basement PACKED with antiques- it’s hard to imagine, and all of it just sitting for two decades. These folks had amassed a huge antique collection- many many items dating back to the early 1800s and before. There’s some gorgeous pieces of primitive Americana that I found. I also have the last of my farm auctions and South Dakota finds listed this week, so there’s something for everyone! O.K. I was saying in my last listing that I purchased a box lot of old finials and paired those matching ones together to sell, and then planned to sell the not matching ones as a lot. Decorative Wood Salvage Piece Eastlake/ Victorian Style? I don’t know the history or original function of this piece. But it may have come from a dresser or a mirror. It has some interesting details with finials on each side. It might even have been Frankensteined by someone out of different parts for all I know. It measures 15” long X 5-7/16” high(not measuring the rough tab like part at the bottom) X 1-11/16” deep. It weighs 1 lb. 1 ounce. Please see the photos as they are part of the description. It is in good condition. The finials are not glued in and are removable. There are a few nicks and chips on the wood. Obvious glue is seen. And I am still listing items from my antique store trip as well as the farm auction sale- there’s loooots of new items this week, and something for everyone! Actually. Let me clarify- there's 41 wood finials, 1 metal finial and, believe it or not, 1 platci finial! I left them as found(and in the box too, see? The metal and wood ones can be seen in photo 21. It's another farm estate auction lot. I bought two boxes of finials- one I called my large finial lot that i have already sold, and these, which I'm calling my small finial lot because of their size. I do believe that some of them could be used as, or are, knobs too- like the sphere shaped ones- they have screw holes on the bottom for mounting ... morewhile the clearly finial pieces have wood pegs or metal scres coming out of there bottoms, or are flat at the bottom. It's a vintage lot, with some that may be old enough to be antique, and many that are unfinished- never used, some with their store tags still on- see my photos. of the 43- 4 have some type of small chip or damage- I'm showing most in my close ups. The rest of the finials are in great shape- there's scratches, scrapes, nicks, nibbles and dings that are small and minor. Those that are finish show a fair amount of finish wear too. They range in size from 1" tall to 4" tall, the smallest sphere shaped one being 3/4" diameter. Even if you don't have a project for these- they'd make for some primitive and unique bowl fillers too! These are 2 carved wooden acorn finials from the Early 1900's. The finials are 4 1/2 inches in height. With a width of 2 3/8 inches. The wood dowel on bottom is about 3/4 inches in diameter and comes out about 1 1/8 inches long.

Antique/Vintage Set of Seven Turned Wood Finials
Lot of seven antique. Turned wood finials. Biggest size is approximately 5" high x 9" in diameter at its widest. There are five in that approximate size. Two have screws; three do not. Add 1/2" in height to the ones with the screw attached. One of these large finials is missing a chunk of wood from its base(please see photo) There are two smaller finials that are approximately 5" h(from top of finial to end of screw) x 7.5" in diameter at their widest. Both have a screw attached. Wood species is unknown, but there is grain variations in six of the finials, so I am thinking it may be oak. One has very little grain at all, so maybe it is mahogany? These finials were once stained, but the stain has been sanded off and they are now all down to the bare wood. These would look cool left as-is and displayed in a jar, or ... morepainted shabby chic style and lined up on a mantle or bookshelf. They can also be used as finials on a wood curtain rod. This auction is for a matched pair of Antique Wood Finials. These are deeply turned Classic finials for a clock or furniture. Each finial measures 4 1/2 inches tall and approximately 2 inches in diameter at the widest part. The one finial has a fine hairline but they are otherwise in excellent condition. They have a lovely burnished patina with no paint. They are clean and ready to use. Please look at the pictures and use your own judgement as to condition. I have lots of pictures with good close ups. Most of the items I sell are vintage or antique. They have had a previous life. You might find some minor imperfections or flaws. Vintage Wood Furniture Finials, Set of 4, Salvage
Vintage wood furniture finials. Set of 4, salvage. These are made of a light-weight wood and each has an attaching screw on the bottom. They are approx. 4" tall and have a bottom diameter of 1 3/4" They are painted white and some of the paint is chipping. I would imagine that these could be stained dark to match a darker piece of furniture. These would be great for a restoration or decorative project!
