It has six carved griffins as branches and from the mouth of each one hangs an electrical light fitting. The central column is also decoratively carved and it has been taken apart and reassembled with new wiring. A Beautiful Old Noritake NIPPON Wedgwood Style Compote on 3 Winged Griffins This auction is for an outstanding and beautiful Old Noritake Nippon compote that is decorated in what Nippon collectors refer to as the wedgwood pattern. crafted in the style of English Wedgwood. The compote stands approximately 5" tall and is approximately 7 3/4" in diameter. It is marked with the Morimura Brothers' green M-in-wreath'Hand Painted Nippon" mark(c. 1911- 1921) The top. 4 Piece Antique Brass Fireplace Tool Set: Stand w/Winged Griffins & Lions' Feet
This is a very old cast brass Victorian fireplace tool set. It includes a poker. Which has a cast iron tip, a shaft that appears to be steel, and the ornate brass handle; a brush which has natural hair bristles; a brass shovel that was painted black; an elegantly shaped set of tongs with cast iron tips, steel shafts, cast brass handles; and the heavy ornate cast brass stand on which the tools sit. It is highly decorated with 2 winged griffins, along with flowers, etc. It has 4 lions' feet. The fireplace set is 31" tall to the top of the cast brass handle on the top of the stand. The base of the stand is 12" by 9 1/2" It is in excellent condition. But of course has lots of patina, which varies from one area to another. In the close-up photos of the base plate, you can see that some areas have a grayish-green coating over ... morethe brass. I cleaned this area lightly with brass polish, but did not want to take away the original patina, so I didn't try to remove this greenish coating. The brush looks as though it has lost some of its bristles over the years, but is still usable. In my 8th photo, you can see that one of the brackets near the top of the rack is higher than the one on the other side, but it doesn't appear to have been damaged or bent- may have just been made that way. This buffet was my grandfathers. He got it some time around 1900. It has been sitting in my parents home for at least 60 years. We believe it was made in Europe. It is a massive piece of furniture. It features a total of five wood carved Griffin faces. A large beveled mirror with curved edges and a 72" by 24" table top. There are two large ornately carved winged Griffins with feet on both sides of the large beveled glass mirror. The mirror measures 57" by 21" There are three heavily carved drawers. Original carved wood table with three elephant heads. Including their upturned trunks and tusks with thick carved"fencing" between each head depicting winged griffins amidst the other surrounding designs. It measures 28" high and about 22" in width. Please view photo 5 as it will reflect an old mend at the bottom of one leg, though that portion is tightly affixed to the leg. Each tusk has some gentle"give" but it seems thisis by the maker's hand as they are well secured to the heads. There are sone gentle scuffs bumps on some of the edges and feet, as would be expected. this is an old table so it will not look"new" though it is gorgeous from all angles, including the patina of the wood. There are two mirrors which fit into the recessed table top and lower tier. originally there may have been marble ... morebut the mirror makes the table look more"modern" or one can use the finished wood their tops. 6 damask napkins. Possibly linen. But I'm not an expert and can't say for sure; they're silky smooth and soft. A very light mint green. Approximately 22 x 22. Beautiful pattern of griffins or winged lions. There are a few small spots, I tried to photograph all the ones I saw; there are also a few pinholes, it look like they were pinned together or had a price tag pinned on. All items listed are Original and Genuine. As always! Victorian RJ Horner or Karpen Parlor Chair. Circa 1880-90. This is an Exquisite piece of furniture! All original hand carved mahogany with a unusual shield back with figural winged griffins on each side. The griffins are approx 14" tall. Overall wonderful original condition with no repairs or breaks. The only flaws to note is a normal seperation at the joint of the shield(see image#4) Also a small piece missing on the front bottom edge only! These do not take away from its appeal. Just needed to note them. The chair is VERY strong and sturdy! All the legs are in great shape and the casters are present. Antique Mahogany Winged Griffins Three Lobed Table
This is for a beautiful solid mahogany occasional or lamp table with heavily carved legs with winged griffins. Fluting, and a serpentine shape. It has a three lobed top and lower shelf. Im pretty sure there is a name for this type of table, but I cannot recall it at the moment. It also has pretty filagreed brass banding on the apron of the table top, but a small 1 7/8 inch portion of this is missing as can be seen in the 6th photo. Otherewise the table is in very good condition and is sturdy. The wood has a wonderful patina with some dark clouding around the outer surfaces of the two shelves, which is probably residue from the original finish. Measures 29.5 inches tall and 24 inches in diameter if it were round. The lower shelf is 12 inches in diameter if it were round. Exceptional antique hooded oak sideboard w/ large winged griffins buffet server
This is an exceptional American made oak sideboard dating to the 1890-1910 Late Victorian period. The flowing form and fine details set this one apart from so many that I have seen over the years. A deep. Arched hooded top is supported by two large(22"tall) highly carved winged griffins and backed with a large, curving bevelled mirror that is in excellent condition. The base has large pawed feet and even a center wine drawer between the two doors which is seldom found. Every surface is quarter sawn tiger oak and there is no damage. It was professionally refinished about 15 years ago and has been extremely well cared for. Even the interior surfaces were refinished to detail-which is so unusual. Extremely sturdy.
