WOW ! 3-Tiered Victorian Walnut Gothic Pediment - Fresh NY Barn Find!
Up for bid is a beautiful. Beautiful)note the second beautiful) top crest off a 1870's/1880's organ that was found in a barn in NY state and has not seen the light of day I would say in fifty or sixty years. This pediment has nice Eastlake spoon carvings, mutiple layers of molding and fret work, a finish that screams that it is old and a great Gothic/Eastlake feel. Pediment is ready for stain or if you like it shabby, paint. Pediment is 46" long x 12.75" tall and is a total of 8.5" deep. Chairs are 44" tall x 19" wide in the seat and 18" deep. We are offering a group of as found ornate 19th century carved wood items that were recently discovered in a furniture restorer's treasure trove. All are very dirty and need some attention. This late 1800s gothic revival shield is hand carved with medieval designs including a large central double headed dragon and deeply fluted edge. It measures 20 1/4" tall x 17 1/8" wide x 1 1/2" deep and features a raised band of naturalistic fruit in the baroque manor. A meticulously stippled background and baroque shells. Antique hand Carved Victorian Gothic Mahogany Column Capital Architectural Piece
This exceptionally nice architecturally inspired column measures 35 ½” tall x 13 ¼” square at the capital x 11 ¼” diameter at the carved cushion base. All of the wood is solid mahogany EXCEPT to very top ¾” of the 10 ½” tall capital which is mahogany veneered birch. The veneer is lifting on the corners as shown. As the photos show. The mahogany has rich grain and the capital is DEEPLY carved with naturalistic leaves and flower blossoms and crisp volutes on the corners. You will note old age/shrinkage cracks in the capital but no loss. The finish is a dry old refinish from many years ago and there are traces of old black finish in the details. It has some superficial scratches and scuffs that will disappear with some lemon oil. The piece comes in 3 sections for easier, more affordable shipping.
