Large Victorian Antique Cast EASTLAKE Shelf Bracket -14.5" X 17.25"
This is a large single Antique Victorian cast iron or steel( EASTLAKE shelf bracket measuring 14.5"x 17.25" It is distinctive. Definitely NOT"frilly" and with original, flaking white paint. The handsome design is relatively simple and there is a limited amount of embossing of the metal. The condition is quite good given the age and functional nature of the item. There is a small amount of surface rust. The shorter side has 2 screw holes 2" below the right angle_there is no hole at the opposite end and there is a protrusion toward the end of the longer side but no screw holes. It weighs over 3 lbs. This set appears to be a single Corinthian column cap salvage piece that has been cut in half and meticulously stripped& refinished with a wax coat. Both halves exhibit exceptional hand carved classical details in an unknown beautifully grained& heavy solid wood. The backsides of each have had 2 notched hanging brackets added allowing these very stylish pieces to be displayed on the wall as corbel sconces. Exact age is unknown. Antique 1880 Stambach & Love Wall Shelf Bracket Sign Holder
Stambach& Love was a plumbing supply manufacturer located in Philadelphia in the late 1880's and early 20th Century. This Antique Cast Iron Wall- Shelf Bracket- Sign Holder has a stamped Patent date of June 22. 1880 and is also stamped Stambach& Love. There is a slot above the name which was used to place a trade sign- please see photos. This heavy Antique Iron bracket still has much of its original green paint, but does some surface rust in places. The wall mount side with holes for screws measures 10 5\8 inches. The top measures 14 1\2 inches- the slot for inserting the trade sign measures 5 inches. This Antique Iron Bracket is in good overall condition with no cracks or chips. Thanks for looking. The colors much more muted, not quite as bright. b) the movement has been removed. Cleaned and rebuilt, but was not installed back into the case correctly-the movement is actually lower by one screw-hole; the old holes had become too wide, so instead of repairing the hole, the repairman just made a new hole right below the original. Some of the original screws/bolts within the movement have been replaced with newer bolts, not original to the clock. c) the brass ormolu on the clock face. Inside the front door, is brighter than the rest, I assume it's newer than the rest. d) there are cracks on all sides in the wood and paint is missing. On the plus side the clock runs. But needs some type of adjustment because the pendulum stops after a bit. Without the pendulum the movement never stops. There is a pendulum
